  1. Seat pad was cut out of some thick foam with a modified jig-saw (ground the teeth off a blade - works a treat). I will see what I can do. OKO carb is on the phase 2 list, too.

    Roger

You can buy blades from screwfix with no teeth to cut similar materials. (its a sharp wavy blade)

  2. If any of you have seen Derren Brown live you will realise that this is one of his type of observation tests.

Another one is the ping pong doubles team that turn into gorillas.

What it's used for is not to highlight your powers of observation or your ability to spot misdirection, but your ability to focus on the task.

I'll not bore you with the psychology behind it but if you laughed out loud when the gorillas/bears appear(as I did) then you are 'generally':-

    Easily bored.

Have the attention span of a small child.

Have an inability to concentrate or focus.

    Lack determination/ willpower.

Far too willing to accept a compromise.

Will under achieve in most aspects of you life (job, relationships etc..).....

...And so the character assassination went on :o ..and how the audience laughed at my expense. :guinness: .. when I was singled out.

On the plus side he said he couldn't ''work'' with me as it would take too long to hypnotise me and it was 'unlikely' that anyone would ever sneak up on me :) .

Is that good or bad ?

  3. I think it is perfectly reasonable for a UK petrol station to see your risk assessment and method statement before you fill up your 5 litre can. :guinness:

Here in Dubai, the bloke at the pump fills up your car, petrol can etc with you sat in the car, engine running on your mobile phone, smoking a fag. Oh and its dirt cheap.

You didn't mention the sun shining as well.

  4. Dad had a trials bike shop and I was even worse at football than I am at trials.

Holidays included the SSDT and Aberfeldy, rode them as soon as I could.

used to spend the school holidays in the workshop or testing bikes in the car park

suppose there was only ever going to be one outcome...

Ive tried to pack in trials twice but accept now that its somthing to enjoy even when your an old git.

Are you based in Scotland/Uk ? Aberfeldy 2day was a great trial when I rode it.

  5. thanks Jon & Tim looks like I'm not engaging the kick start properly before giving it a good wellie too. mines working now but still not to sure about it but that might be me being a bit paranoid. Jon if the needs be would i be best replacing the whole internals gear idler spring and shaft or is that a bit over the top cheers Paul.

    No trouble.

  6. If the cracks not completely across the casing you should drill a small hole at the ends, this should stop it progressing further.

Personally I would contact the importer or bike shop if this is a common problem, and your bike/cover is fairly new.

  7. Husband and wife are shopping in Tesco's when the man picks up a crate of Stella and sticks them into the trolley

'What do you think you're doing?' asks the wife

    'They're on offer, only

  8. Never had any problems with plastic cans. Petol stations thats different, you have to hold it above your head so thay can see it before they will turn the pump on. Never heard of anybody having an actual problem with any sort of can. Wish "they" would turn their attention to things that actually matter.

  9. Guess which sort i purchased ................. the Wee Guys ! ;) Bassa, might just fling the Buggers in the back of the Drawers and Buy the Long ones. No point in finding out the Short Socks leak when when it's too late !

No they're ok, you just have to make sure they are securely attached, it's more from comfort than waterproofness, even if you do get some water in it soon warms up and thats all that matters.

  10. Speak to DVLA, surprisingly helpfull. Document V848 "How to register your old vehicle" Also how to obtain an age related plate - give info. You will need a V55/5 form. Also ask for INF34 if your bike is over 25 yrs old. V765 to register under its original no. V100 has a lot of info.

  11. Now, if dibs goes on to do wonderful things in the future and maybe even become World Champion - this bike would then be good value for money as an investment I would suggest.

Only if you put it in a vacum bag and dont use it, and keep it for 30 years.

  12. I've got a Scott oiler on my VFR and it works very well, keeps the chain lubricated just enough.

I remember Lynklyfe, you put the chain in it then boiled it until it was molten, then pulled the chain out on a bit of wire and hung it over the tin until it dried and went solid on the chain.

It was very popular in its day but there isn't a person in the world who used it and didn't spill it at some time or another. Totally impossible to remove.

It made you about as popular as a shark in a swimming pool with the ladies of the house!

Still use chain wax, which is similar. Even when I boil the chain in the garage the smell gets into the house, really p*ss's my wife off. Reason enough !
