I have a fifty year old pair of DRs which admittedly are too thin and soft to be used in anger any more and a newer pair of Gaernes which are only about forty years old. I just wash them with cold water let them dry and then rub in some dubbin. The Gaernes are still waterproof. (I have replaced the front linings with leather).
I must have had 10 pairs of boots over the years, and none of them have even been waterproof, even when new. Goretex socks are the closest to dry feet in my experience.
Assuming its an amal ? Screw nearest engine is the mixture screw, in for richer. This screw is very sensitive, so make very small adjustments at a time, and only once engine is warm. Screw behind it is tickover, in faster.
Normal unleaded is fine. Have you tried a new plug ? When you tickling it, don't go crazy, slightly flood it only. If the plugs wet, dry it, heat it and try again. To start it ease it over compression on the firing stroke, then give it a long push, rather than a kick.
Im looking to buy a flywheel puller for a 1990 climber Ive just bought. I cant find a specific one on ebay but a bosch rotax one is available. It is a internal thread of 35mm x 1.5. Any ideas if this is the right one. Thanks
Unless there is more than one fly wheel. M35 x 1.5 right is correct.
You sure you need seals ? Does it run very weak / erratic, dry side seal. Burns gear oil which generally looks different to 2stroke smoke ? Other side.
However, regarding primary gearing, that must be a matter of personal taste from b40rt, as the higher gearing works perfect for me. If not, why go to all the trouble changing clutch basket and so on when you could go for a 56-60t rear sprocket (if you really need to go that slow....)?? ?
Hi G, here we have to agree to differ. I ride in second gear in many sections and agree its very usable, but I do like the option of a lower first gear.
I have an air cooled climber motor, but found the gearing very high, even with 10t gear box sprocket, and 54 tooth rear. Eventually I will change the crankshaft pinion and clutch basket for earlier ones. Have fun !
2 day trial at D'All is very good I'm told, are you riding this year.
Hi b40rt thanks for the reply. I’m in Fife (Scotland) my only concern was the available space to fit a weld repair and the chance of shattering what is there with heat stress.
@breagh Alan can you recommend anyone ? I'm sure the plate would be ok being welded.
A competent welder should be able to repair that easily, there's no real stress on it so doesn't have to be super strong. Possible cause being the stator was loose for some time. Where are you so people can recommend a welder.

This was before it really started raining.
