It’s an easy measurement so don’t think that’s the reason - think more the marketing is now done by “branding experts “ as they say on the apprentice rather than engineers so graphics are more important than mm ( inches for the pre 65 brigade) and degrees ??
? Think you'll find there has been more development in pre65 's in the last 20 years, than in " modern " bikes
The hole is very small (which makes it block easily) Soak it in carb cleaner / brake cleaner, blow out both ways with an air line. Guitar strings will clean it but this is NOT recommended. When you last put it away it was running ok ? It so, did you drain the carb ? No ? The fuel will evaporate and leave deposits / varnish, this is probably the problem.
Up to yet I've checked the fuel,installed a new inline fuel filter,cleaned and oiled the air filter,had the carb ultra sound cleaned,all the jets cleaned ...

That of all the brands, it seems like TRS riders are the most likely to go full "power ranger" with the TRS clothing? Do they come cheap with the bike or does the bike attract a certain type (like with BMWs). I'm a tart and I'd like a shiny new TRS RR but I don't think I could bring myself to wear the kit too... But then I'm a fat old man..

I’ve just put a new BPR5ES plug in, the previous one was original! New one is now dry, sooty and black so definitely rich. I also have a new BPR4ES to try.
A hotter plug will only disguise the problem, not cure it.
What is the correct procedure for setting the points gap?
I had the primary stator coil give up the ghost this spring.I then put the lighting coil in its place along with a new set of points and condenser.Checked for spark,which was good and back in the corner she went until last weekend.
It was very reluctant to start and when it briefly did it sounded really out of time so I shut it down and took the Sherpa T.
Maybe there are other problems in my using the lighting coil,but I would like to make sure that I have the points set correctly before anything else.
I think the way that I did it was to turn the flywheel until the points looked to be fully open and then set the gap? I want to give it one more try before I order up a new electronic ignition.
Does the lighting coil and the primary coil have the same part number ? If not, its unlikely to work properly over the full rev range.
I also rode a TRS and liked the S3 Curve footpegs, so put them on my Scorpa. I'm a clubman rider, but I benefit being short, that they help me get more forward on the bike and improve my overall riding position.
