  1. Edinburgh police have now acknowledge there is a major bike theft problem, and have launched "break the cycle" initiative.

What has prompted this, a fourteen year old was killed on a stolen bmw after an extended chase. The actual thefts seem to be of secondary importance !

For the better part of 2 years, I was using Silkolene SX Pro2 (higher flashpoint than Motul 710 2T) at 80:1 and kept struggling to get good spark plug readings using 95 to 98 octane equivalent with mix of 1 to 2 parts 108-110 Octane leaded race fuel with 3 parts 91 octane non-ethanol pump gas in Trials bike. I recently switched over to Motul 710 2T pre-mix at 80:1 and now find it much easier to get the carb jetting dialed in and near perfect spark plug readings on my Trials bike. I'd prefer to keep using around 64:1 on my 250cc 2T Woods bikes that are typically run at much higher engine rpms, but 80:1 is best for Trials bikes as heffergm mentioned above.

    What ????

I use a standard engine and clutch sprocket setup The gear box is 13t and rear is 58t (420chain) but I use a lower sleeve gear and lay shaft gear as the bike was set up for the Pre65 SSDT which has road work The rider tells me the gearing is fine for the sections and moor work

What is the best gear for bogs ?

But if they can get away with it why not? Its up to the governing body to impose stricter rules if they feel its required.

As for the "non stop" rule, well this is a joke and it seems the higher ranking you are the more stopping you are allowed! I guess Bou gets away with it more so if he "cleans" a section that other riders have failed to negotiate, a big cheer from the crowd and the observer may feel obliged to show some discretion regarding momentarily stops.

Governing bodies may make the rules, but it is unpaid amateurs are expected to enforce them. Professional riders /teams should respect this and not take the urine.

Agreed. The eventual film will depict quite a heroic struggle if he gets through the week. Let's face it, he must be having quite a torrid time. Of the 60 sections in the first two days, he's fived 49 of them.

Good on him for giving it a go.

Has he attempted all the sections or been asking for 5's ?

I was watching an Austrailian Trials video on youtube a few months back.

It roughly said that nearly all trials riders are nice people which is true.

However it was stated there aways seems to be one insufferable a***hole who is generally tolerated by rest.

I try not to be that person at every trial.

Your not aiming particularly high if your only ambition is "not to be an ahole"

The way I saw it, these guys were riding for a living or at least to make a few bob. I had Monday morning to do that.

I've corrected your spelling. " The way I saw it, these guys were cheating for a living or at least to make a few bob. I had Monday morning to do that."
