  1. To test injectors I rig up a pressurised petrol supply (40 PSI) using a regulator, but a supply from a tyre inflated to 30 PSI plus should do.

To supply the injector with electrical pulses I have an old model railway transformer that can supply AC or pulsed DC. I generally test at 25 Hz pulsed DC, starting at low voltage and turning it up until it is just sufficient to fire the injector. I would think tapping the wire on a battery terminal would work reasonably.

Remember injectors are only meant to be fire for a few m/sec. Keeping the current on longer will trash them

EDIT - remember electrical sparks + sprayed petrol = explosion Probably best to do test in garden. I only use a small volume of petrol, probably about 2 to 3 cc per injector.

And having done all that, how do you identify a "burble" ?

  2. The fact Dave did it on an XT500 is a feat in itself, I was fortunate enough to be a friend of Dave and he was years ahead of his time in his achiievements, only Doug Demokos bettered Daves distance, but he used a motor on the front wheel to keep it spinning, as this acted like a gyroscope and helped him balance.

Were the foot rests not moved up near top shock mounts ?

  3. My 82 has the brake arm out to the front and I don't believe it works as well as this design with the arm at 90 degrees to diameter across the cam and pivot as in the one pictured above. Anybody tried this mod on a latter model and did it help? Cheers Mark

Hi Mark, has the arm also been cut and angled lower, so it's at right angles to the cable ?

  4. Mmmh the photo is blurred or fuzzy can you post a better one?

Is it that thingy in different color at which you are pointing with an Allan wrench?

There should not be a grease nipple if this is one?

It's probably the crankcase drain which goes to the carb, looks like an Aprilia motor.

  5. I got my Greeves TFS back together last year after it being apart since 1980. A guy at work gave me a good 2nd hand rear tyre which I fitted to give the best grip according to the wear. All good until mot time when I, and the mot tester both noticed the tiny arrow on the sidewall denoting the correct rotation for the tyre. Had to reverse the tyre to pass the mot....

    Dremel.
