He said that he remembers getting epoxy to seal tanks but he had a huge collection at the time and doesn't recall if this bike was done, can you tell by looking inside, or should I just get it redone?

Really not sure I'll have to ask
Would using non-additive gas like cleanorbust suggested aliveat that problem?
-
Thanks so much for going through the trouble to get the capacities much appreciated, not sure who sells non additive gas anymore more research
-
I should be picking it up early next week, I'll have to check the numbers and get new fluids in it
Hopefully I can find out the capacities

I notice there are 2 filler caps on the left side of the engine?
Clutch & gearbox?
-
Thanks for the insight and the heads up about the compression release

I'm back after a long hiatus just couldn't keep away from the throttle, my last bike was a 2002 Sherco 2.9
I had an opportunity to purchase a Montesa Cota 247 COMPLETELY rebuilt New everything. New main bearings, rebored, new piston, new rings, chains, It has only been run for about 30 minutes after the rebuild.
The owner is unsure of the year at this point it has been sitting a good number of years, my main question is about the break in period I have no idea on this bike
Also any help of mixing ratio's , Crankcase oil, or other valuable information would be greatly appreciated
I should have it in a couple weeks and I'll look for numbers on the frame
Thanks
Chuck

OK
I was riding today, same thing, ran like crap, going downhill it would stall, when I got stuck on a uphill it was revving, what the heck?
Now I knew something was up!
I started thinking about changes I made recently, then I pushed down on the choke, the idle picked up, hum, pushed it again, same thing, I got it!
2 weeks ago Mick had a zip tie around his choke on his Sherco to make it easier to get at, well I put one around mine to, it worked, but now it wasn't letting the choke fully disengage! Once I took it off, the bike ran great!
Can you say SQUID!

1993 Beta Synt 260
Runs very rich, I clean it out and it's a very strong runner, but shut it off, or ride slow and it loads back up.
Mikuni carb
135 Main
EJ5CD needle on second clip
Air screw 2 turns out
BP7ES Spark plug
Very hard to see any numbers on the pilot jet, OE 05? but the holes in the pilot are HUGE compared to my dirt bike.
Previous owner said it does not like the cold weather, I had it out on a much nicer day and I cant remember it loading up like it is now (48 deg.)
Is there an outlet for getting jets for this bike, in case I need smaller jets?
Thanks
Chuck

I bought a 1993 Beta Synt 260 off my friend just before this winter.
After a good cleaning.
I was learning off Brian (district 6 A champ) and Gale "Turtle" Petro (District 6 B Champion) before his sudden departure a few weeks ago.
Here is the video from the Trials ride I went on with Brian and Gale, a lot of it was capturing them play riding on the helmet cam.
Conditions, wet slippery leaves, over mud, over frozen ground.

I have been trail riding dirt bikes since I was 13 (now 45) I was introduced to Single track a few years ago and became addicted to it. Some of our sections are slow boulder climbing first gear trials like riding, and very tricky hills, I figured the trials would be excellent training for this.
I just started making a 4 line (easy) loop by my house, I only have a handfull of rides on the bike.
Just wanted to say hello to everyone, and I look forward to learning from your vast knowledge of trials bikes.
