All depends on what gears you have are they the wide ratio WD ones or standard road?
-
If you have cub hubs I use the grooved ones off fleabay

Yet another clash in the event diary, why oh why don't organisers get together at the beginning of the season and sort all of this out, do you see the British F1 race on the same day as the Italian F1 one, no is answer. #bringthesportintothemodernworld

So, it seems that the big bike classic scene is dying. Question, what's the best twinshock to convert to a right foot gear change and left foot rear brake?
-
Totally agree. Not sure what to say in this politically correct world. Well I do, but just can't say it. 18 entries wtf?
-
Not looking good at all. The entries rose to the dizzy heights of 19 yesterday until someone pulled out. No official line at the moment will let you know when I know. Think I'm off to look at some twinshocks :-(
-
Wow, will you be renaming this next year to the Alvie Highland Twinshock 2 day?
-
Come on gents, only 19 entries so far for the road trial, the closing date is the 16th June. Not sure why the lack of interes, maybe someone can enlighten me?
-
Looking forward to the SVMC trial tomorrow, the grip on it is fantastic, but then I guess Hubbo knew what he was doing when the steel ring were added to the flywheels.
Bring on the rain :-)

They're good but expensive, I have a pair on the Ariel. Got a pair for sale if your interested?

What you need is a Wallo C15 :-)

Back due to popular demand is the road trail at the Bonanza this year on the 27th June, this wasn't clear but hopefully it should be now with this post and the message on the AMCA site.

It's always been a great ride round the Cotswolds so hope to see many of you there.

I'm trying to source a T100 pre unit engine for a mate, if anyone has or knows of one for sale can you please give me a shout?
If you PM with your number I call you back.
Cheers

Happy Bank Holiday to all readers. I am in a good mood today, even after yesterday's trial, but please do not start me on that.
Looking for a set of rear shocks for the BSA and I remember hearing that Mr Pickering supplies some modded Betors, does anyone have any information on them what makes the mod work and where I can get a pair?

Hi all,
I did the Sam Cooper road trial yesterday and towards the end of the trial the engine was sounding terrible, but after letting it cool down for a while it got better and then the noise would return as soon as it warmed up.
From cold the engine runs fantastic, no noises at all, it only makes the noise when it's hot.
I think it must be related to heat and wondered if there any specific things to look out for. To be honest I had a similar issue with an alloy barrel on a BSA where the liner would move when the engine got hot. I had to get a space made so the head pressed against the line preventing it from banging into the head. The top hat stopped the liner from moving down the barrel.
Oil is returning OK and the rockers are getting plenty of oil so this is why I'm putting it down to a heat issue.
I've tried making the mixture richer and may go from a 5 to a 7 or 8 NGK plug.
The barrel is a short stroke one from MD Products should the head press down on the liner to prevent it from moving?
Tonight I plan to run the bike in the workshop and then apply the air compressor if I can replicate the noise.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Ken

Good ride round yesterday, some very interesting sections especially for the rigids.
Mr Miller rode the Ariel and gave it his seal of approval, also gave me some interesting tips, mechanical not riding :-(
Had a very interesting section through a bog, just a gentle 2nd gear plod for the Ariel.
Need to sort out some over heating issues the bike not me, also managed to bend the fat bars with a spectacular off on section 6.

Martin Wilmore is riding a Yamaha on Sunday

So just got the entry list for the Sam Cooper trial, and all I can say is "where have all the big bike gone?"
I counted 4 out of an entry of 76.
How come 2 out of the top 3 in the Pre 65 Scottish were Ariels and you always get a big turn out at the Talmag, do these bikes get wrapped up in cotton wool for the rest of the year?
-
Dark side, phew, I thought you were going to say your building a sidecar outfit......
-
... but nevertheless some fantastic pictures of old iron :-)

Do all the Jackson Ariel frames have the oil filler on the side of the frame, or did some have it on the down pipe similar to the Bartram frames?

Cotswolds Cups 2015.pdf
The results in case people still don't have them

Hi Turbo, I got the results yesterday in the post, and am currently talking to the organiser as I've offered to help get the scores out in the future. To be honest I believe results show be published on the tinternet within 48 hours of the trial, after all it is 2015. I will try to scan the results in and publish them tomorrow on this post, so long as the wife hasn't already filed them.

They were on the bike when I bought and have been replaced. Someone wants to buy them but I aint got a clue how much they are worth.
