  1. WOO HOO I'M A WINNER!!!!!!

I would like to take a moment to thank those that put forth the effort of the contest.

Brian was a heck of a competitor, A true gentleman in the sport of caption writing.

    Craig PM on its way

  2. It was a great event.

Even though I chickened out on the section 8 barrel.

    Hey Windfall,

I got more last place finishes than you, :D

I had my typical over 100 score, but had fun. Even had a few cleans, so I did something right.

The new guy that Mitchell brought and rode the black montesa was all smiles all the way home. (we may have him hooked) :(

OH the Border crossing.........Can we say SMOOTH SAILING. I was home 4 hours sooner than last time. :rotfl:

  3. GOOD LUCK!!!! to all from Michigan.

    Above all HAVE FUN!!!

Hey Firstgear if you crash, just say that one is for me cuz I won't be there. So it would be like I was riding it. :(

Nationals are coming up this weekend in Duluth Aug 22-23. Any tips from the local club putting the event on?? How is the river water level? Low / high?

I suppose we should take time to seal up our flywheel covers good.

Only if you ride a Beta. :rotfl::P:D

Hey- Would that Sherco you are seeking parts for be the ever so slightly used unit of Mr Kutchey?

Another question.... Those Pro Taper bars you sold me are a smaller ID than my old renthal's- The bar ends I have are too large- didn't look to see how much smaller the ID is- if it's just a bit I can drill it out. Or should I get new bar ends from you?

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA EVER SO SLIGHTLY USED!!!!!!

I guess that is one way to refer to what he has done to it.

OK I really can't say anything bad about the guy because he has no fear (tries any obstacle you put in front of him), has tons of natural talent for the sport, and he is a truly nice guy.

Anybody know if Mr Kutchey will be in Windsor?

Kjax, you just need a bigger hammer to push them bar ends in!!!!!

God I should have thought of that! We'll buy um cheap and sell them to Zippy!

Yeah except for the fact that after Zippy tells me the wife won't let him spend any money and the kids are hungry and even though his bearings are seized he really doesn't need them as he rides away with his front tire skidding and his shorts flapping in the wind (I assume cause he can't afford pants?) I will end up chasing after him and selling the $4 bearing to him for $3.75

Yeah First gear is just that great of a guy.

Are you suggesting that if my bike was in tip top shape I would ride better?

I think the money is better spent replacing bent bars, broke levers, new tires. etc....

Maybe but your buddies won't go "Oooohhhhh" over a new set of bars.

Maybe not, but I have been known to go "OH S**T" as I go over a new set of bars. :D

  7. Sweating is good for ya, cleans out the toxins. Makes room for more new ones to put back in the body. :D

Here in Michigan, a hot day is actually not too bad to ride in as long as the humidity is low. When it is 85 F, and 90% humidity that's a killer.

I wear a Short-sleeve shirt and MX pants zipped off to make shorts.

Drink plenty of fluids, Usually water and electrolyte replacement drinks work best.

But just get used to the idea of being hot cuz it won't go away.

  8. First off had a blast,

I got 3rd place both days YEEEAAAAAHHHHH!

ok so there was only 3 riders in ADV. :banana2:

Two day seems like the way to go. Really liked starting Sunday at 10:00, works better for those of us that work Sunday night.

Loop length was a bit long, and I had heard some of the lower classes, Beginner Novice etc. had some trouble with the rutted up portions of the loop. I would imagine the rutted up downhills gave them trouble.

One more about the loop. I really liked how the parking/camping area was in the middle, I would ride Sections 1-6 Stop get a drink, then ride 7-10, stop get a drink, worked really well.

Sections--- I thought the ADV lines were just about right. One of the top ADV riders was getting 30-something both days so I don't think they need to be made more difficult. I think there was a good mix of technical and big "Oh Crap" stuff.

Camping charge---can't be too bad it also included parking for both days.

Concessions or food----I usually don't eat till later, and then I like to go to restaurant and sit in a soft chair to match my squishy behind.

Distance-----All events in MI are approx. 2 hrs for me so distance good.

  9. Not sure what a "Decoke" is but when I rebuilt my Sherco, I just used hot soapy water and one of those sponges with the green scrubby on one side. Seemed to do an excellent job removing all the black burnt crap from the head and piston. Did take a little elbow grease for the piston.

Just remember, we (MOTA) need to stick with the same rules as the NATC. MOTA has always been good at this, usually in exact line, but not always to the T. For example, when NATC went to the no-stop, and then back to the stop rule, MOTA did as well (same year)...etc. This year there are a couple minor variations between the NATC and MOTA rules, but they are for the most part, as I said minor. The MOTA organization (as far as I know) has always prided itself in promoting our top riders to compete and prepare to ride at the National level. If we don't ride by the same rules, it can really effect a riders place if he falls victim to a rules inconsistency between the organizations. Just ask Firstgear about the 5 he got in OH a couple years ago...he is still pi$$ed. For the past several years, MOTA has had several riders competing at the National level, and I don't think most MOTA riders know this. For myself I know I ridden over 60 Nationals and Firstgear has ridden almost as many.

Well since we are way off topic (yep partly my fault, all my fault on this one) I shall state an opinion of mine concerning different organizations holding events.

MOTA does not need to stick with the same rules as the NATC. It is the riders responsibility to be informed of the rules for the event in which they are participating in. The NATC has a copy of the rules right on the website. Easy enough to become familiar with.

as an example, MOTA, TI, NATC, ITSA, all hold events, all have differences in their rules. If I want to ride an ITSA event I need to be sure to get familiar with the rules.

I agree that it is great that MOTA wants to have our top riders compete at the national level. I have ridden 2 rounds (total so far) and it is tough. First thing I did was read the NATC rules. Much respect for those that have done many NATC events and placed well, many members of MOTA have done just that. :banana2:

If the majority of MOTA members are pleased with using the same rules as NATC then fine, no problem, that is what we use. But no member of MOTA should feel stupid for making a suggestion for a rule change or a class designation change .

  11. I didn't mention a stopwatch.

but for the ease of observing leave it the way it is.

    kjax post Today, 09:27 AM

I do agree that timing someone on the dab might be a bit tough. I sure like what that would do to riding trials as far a skill goes. That would add to the technical side with out creating more big hazards.

Thanks for agreeing with me that it would add difficulty and require more skill. But if there is not enough interest in this type of change then it goes the way of the dinosaur.

Maybe I should bring a beer this weekend.........yep cheap date only takes 1 or 2 and I'm feeling good. :banana2:

  12. Here I am off topic again,

We could add difficulty to all classes with one simple rule change.

"Stopping with foot on ground equals a 5"

OK There would need to be some observer discression with this one.

What this rule is intended for is to stop those that are taking a break in the middle of the section or stopping and putting foot down to discuss the next obstacle with someone else. At this point you have become a kickstand.

The rider that hits a rock stops and loses balance, puts foot down and then proceeds forward should be ok.

Maybe observer gives a count of 2 Mississippi or something as long as they are consistent for all riders.

This would increase the technical side of trials by forcing people to actually ride their bikes. Then there would be no need to make HUGE obstacles.

except in EXP and BIG obstacles in ADV.

Just My Opinion, and as the saying goes Opinions are like ***holes... everybodies got one.

I like the idea of a Champ class. But there is no need to lower the difficulty of ADV just for me. I moved up knowing it would be much harder, half the reason I moved up. I think I am improving, gotta work on that using the throttle thing, and the mental "OH my God that looks hard!"

  13. kjax Posted Today, 04:01 PM

Zippy- You are WAYYYYY to young to do the SR thing. Be all the nut that you can be!

Are you suggesting I should stop taking my medication???? :hyper::banana2::blink:

Hey FanticMatze, Good to know you are still challenging yourself.

Even with the downhill and drop off phobia, You are a good rider and very determined to finish a section, also I have seen you crash and just brush it off and try it again.

You just ain't normal..........well neither are the rest of us.

As for the scorpa just strap it to the top of the plane with tie-downs.
