I currently ride a 2000 Sherco 2.9, In 5 years I will be riding............... a 2000 Sherco 2.9.
So buy the bike you know you like.... sounds like 2 stroke. I personally believe that parts will be available for many years for it.
Eventually probably 4-stroke will be the norm unless the political bias against 2 stroke goes away. I would hate to see 2 strokes die.
Personally I think all these "electric, Hybrid, and alternative fuel" vehicles are nothing more than a marketing ploy by the manufacturers to make themselves appear to be environmentally conscious among the general population. And they are doing the bare minimum work and research to comply with the Government mandates of exploring "alternate fuel" options. Besides Auto Manufacturers and "Oil Companies" are basically business partners. Why make it so that the general public is using less gasoline or Diesel???? We have no other choices Built in dependancy.
I won't comment on the price of oil products but will say that my opinion is that oil ain't going away and is actually renewing itself.
Another opinion. If you think that "alternate fuel" of any kind will actually make it cheaper to drive your vehicle.. you are mistaken. The oil companies are no longer calling themselves "Oil Companies" They are now known as "Energy Companies" Therefore no matter what fuel is used to power your vehicle (except maybe solar) the rights and patents will be purchased or taken over by the "Energy Companies" and these fuels will be supplied by the "Energy Companies", and the "Energy Companies" will be setting the prices. And you can bet that the prices will be extremely close to gasoline prices. Reason is simple....profits... the companies like them and want to keep them. Anything that takes away from Gasoline sales, they will want to be selling and at a price that is comparable so they can keep the same profit percentage.
Well there is my sunny outlook on life.

I cut about a half inch off each side. I use Pro-Taper bars and they have cut marks on them makes it easy.
With the bars wider it puts my wrists at an odd side angle.
I try to make it so that my hand and fore arm are "in-line" with each other.
-
Yep I am definitely getting to be an OLD FART!!
I find myself complaining about all kinds of things that "was better in the old days"
Hey wait a minute I am only 35.
Thanks to all that wish me a Happy Birthday!!!
Biff,
Just remember you and Hollywood ain't that far behind me.!!!
-
Damn you read ssssslllllllloooooowwwww!
I imagine the short bus took you to school.
Hey is that Lane enough for ya?
-
Sure looks tasty..........
(needed an excuse to get the barf smilie in there)
-
So a section is in start gate, turn right, and out exit gate??????
I'll just bring a Skid steer with a rock crusher attachment.
When I was a kid my dad and brother and I would try to spray the guy behind us with the cow pies..... ahh great fun. Not exactly sanitary but lotsa fun.
-
It's not the heat it's the humidity........LOL
Yep the heat got to me more and whipped me out.
Now that you mention it the sections were pretty open not alot of hopping.
I would love to drop less than 110 pts in an event HAHAHAHA
I am not sure if the "extra 5's" on my card would have been much different if I had time to finish.
I do think that the ground was drying up in spots as the day went on.

Always a good time.
I heard there is a big rock that I won't like. (I don't like most rocks anyways )
-
Well #&^^%@%^^$!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHA
-
Here is an opinion of mine:
I have noticed that the majority of the Xtreme stunts and BIG events are not really that technically difficult just lots of erm.....Testicles and gas.
But here in the states that's what puts butts in seats.
OK I are ready for the opposite opinion to be expressed.

Back injuries are not something that you don't want to have heal right.
Ya'll are thinking of the future which is a good thing.
Pat may miss some or the rest of this season, but if he heals properly he will have many years of riding at the world level to come.
Pat,
You have made the US proud!!!!
-
AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!! IT'S A SIGN OF THE APOCALYPSE!!!!
-
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Graham Jarvis as a Youngen, John Lampkin, Steve Saunders..........what more could you ask for?
Wowzers some of the youngens have a few nasty crashes but none gave up. Very determined riders.
-
Jay,
Excellent looking machine!! Have fun with it. look forward to pics in action and an update on the performance of it.
-
I just want that huge boulder that was in front of the entrance. Well used to be a big boulder, they kinda broke it up.
-
That weather was something all right.
I am quite pleased that I made it on top of most of the BIG logs, I think there was only 2 sections I just could not make it through but the rest were 3's until the rain came. Sam you is right about the technical getting ya, what got me most was turning and trying to go up the slippy hills. I discovered I could push the sherco up the hills using the edges of my boot soles to dig in like steps, Very tiring.
When the rain came my first thought was "No big deal I gonna get wet," 3 seconds later it was "hey it got DARK in these woods!"
As always lots of fun.
-
FanticMatze,
You definitely win the "who has the more wet and muddy" yard.
-
Well let's see it is a "Bumbag" so of course I keep me extra Bum in it.
-

It is always a great event at the Great Lakes Property. Beautiful place to ride, nice long loop to cool the head between sections, Sections are always laid out well and challenging. Some of the obstacles look scary but after you ride it the first time you think "That wasn't so bad, rides allot better than it looks."
OK just for the record I ALWAYS have fun no matter how I ride. I am in my own little world. (Who else wears shorts and has "highway pegs" on their Sherco)
I just gotta work on 2 things:
downhill logs.
giving enough gas to get up onto those "bigger than usual obstacles" and getting used to the idea of "hitting" the front tire on the face of the obstacle. For example the barrel in Section 8 at the Windsor event.

-
See ya'll there.
Me thinks it will be a bit wet and muddy.
-
I do believe that the current discussion is which style is harder, not which rules should be adopted.
Personal Opinion: the Stop Hop, no room room to make a turn, balance then throw self and bike at huge obstacle is harder.
For example: In MOTA events The Lower classes, Novice line and majority of Intermediate lines can be ridden no stop, Majority of upper classes, Advanced and Expert lines require hopping and bopping. therefore stop and hop harder, requires more skill.
As far as rules adopted for mere mortals:
Stop balance, Acceptable. (skill required)
Stop foot down is failure (5) (Your leg is a kickstand)
Just my opinion.
-
I had heard about the Air show contributing greatly to the pile up.
Again I must say Great event Windsor club, you could not control the traffic.
HEY why can't we get that many spectators. We had plenty of Experts "Flying" in section 3. (Yellow Trailer)
