    Christ, what was he thinking

That's the thing He was not thinking just reacting. Just my opinion.

And look at all the press he gets for it too. Really takes away from the great accomplishment of Taddy's win.

  2. OK I will give it a go to try and explain the exceedily amature technique that I use. Bear in mind the tallest thing I have splatted is about 3.5 to 4 ft.

good kicker is needed placed on ground same distance as obstacle is tall. (so I am told)

first few times give yourself plenty of run at it. Not so much to build speed as just to feel comfortable,

    as you approach the kicker,

    rev the engine,

compress the suspension (get down on it)

as you bring your body up, this begins to "spring" the suspension up ---dump the clutch.

The entire time you are doing this look at a point ABOVE the obstacle, do not look at the leading edge of it.

when the rear tire hits the face of the obstacle absorb the impact with your legs, lean forward a tad, and pull in the clutch.

At this point you will either "clean" the splatter and be on top of said obstacle or sitting on the skid pan. Either way you ain't falling back down.

also good to have a catcher just in case you don't make it. And they can give you a hard time if you don't make it.

If there are any more experienced with the splatter that can point out any problems with this explanation, don't be shy.

If I am wrong, well then I am wrong.

Hello TC people...need your help again.

The 2005 manual quotes the mains seal dimensions as 24-40-7 and that's what I have ordered but... I have now stripped the motor and the old ones are 25-40-7.

Can I get away with using my new 24-40-7 seals or is that 1mm too much difference?

    Cheers

    Wayne

    Depends,

are the old ones labeled as 25-40-07 or did you measure them to be that size. If measured they may just be worn and that would cause the difference. If they is labeled as such, I would call my friendly Sherco dealer and ask what they suggest.

    Hey Ham2

I am finding your adventures of engine rebuild very interesting,

I am planning on splitting the cases of my 2000 2.9 to do crank seals, bearings, rings, etc. etc. lots of stuff.

So please continue to post so as I can learn before I do the teardown.

I am hoping to have a fire breathing monster when I am done, or at least alot better low end performance and throttle response.

Oh crap, here we go again!

    Nice winter project, hu?

Got your BIG hammer out? Ready to go?

Gotta have a winter project to keep me sane and out of the way of the missus. I tend to drive her insane during the winter months.

I am skipping the BIG hammer and going straight for the BIG F@#$$%^ HAMMER!

Don't forget the duct tape and bailin' twine. ;)

  5. My dad had rented one a few years back, Whilst sitting on the PWC at the dock, the POS, sorry I mean PWC, rolled to the side, Dad reached out to catch himself on the dock and promptly broke something in his shoulder.

You know ive been kinda bummed out that the trials comp forum is gone and that there is so little activity on this tc usa site. I really thought these forums could help grow the sport a bit but then there are those who try to tear one make of bike down. . All 5 makes are good, The one that happens to be talked about at this time happens to be the most popular bike in the USA. I find it strange that if they break down so much why do they sell so many. If i was a newcomer reading this forum id think trials bikes arent very reliable which just isnt the case.

    here here!

Trials bikes last a longggggg time for the simple fact that most of us cant abuse them enough to cause any major faults.

Ride what you are happy with. Ride to be out there. If your brand of bike needs to be proven it will be in the woods.

    --Biff

Wait even Biff can't abuse a bike enough to kill it? say it isn't so!!!

Does this mean you are going to stop busting my chops about riding a Sherco?! ;)

It just won't be the same if you do. :)

Heck I don't want my Sherco, I want a 300 GG. Just can't afford the switch. but the next bike I buy will be a 300 GG.

  9. Them trophies is SWEET!

I gotta learn to ride so I might have a chance at one if somebody gives them away in a place I ride. Or maybe I should drop 3 classes and be able to get 3rd place.

In MOTA the individual clubs decide the trophies. Usually it is a medalion with the MOTA logo on it attached to a colored ribbon. The color of the medallian denotes place and the ribbon denotes class. But some clubs have decided to take the medallion and fashion an award around it. Examples: Mugs, very nice wooden base with the medallion set in the center.

Just remember "If there are only 3 riders in my class, I am going home with a trophy!!" ;)

  10. oohhh! how about a trials rider doing a big splatter, nose wheelie, or pointing part way down the rock and about to lose balance so one leg is stuck way out. I would like to see some really cool trials specific trophies.

Maybe we can get "successfull" stinky helmets!

I will have to call Spain again! Hey, maybe you can buy the stinky tighties off one said former world champion spanish girl, Zipper!

Would not bother you if it had a Repsol/ Montesa logo would it?

Hey don't tease me!!!! Don't promise if you can't deliver.......... :D

  12. DON'T WASH IT!!!

If you do you will destroy the "AROMA OF SUCCESS" :D

Once the Aroma of Success is gone the magic that is held in the helmet that produces all those clean sections will be gone.

Or asmy wife says "That really stinks!!"

OK I am just lazy and spray it with Febreeze, it helps but still smells a bit.

  13. I crashed over the side of a 55 gal drum (it was laying down) and placed my right foot into a tangle of small logs and promptly twisted my ankle up really good. I found out that if a tendon is tore 3/4 of the way through the doctors still call it a sprain. It is a severe sprain, I thought that was interesting in the fact that a sprain can be alot worse than just stretching things. Anyways I was off the bike for a couple months. My first question to the Doc was "when can I ride my motorcycle, I know the trials bike is out for a bit but at least when can I get on the road?" he gave me the usual don't sue me super vague answer of "we will have to wait and see how the healing progresses" As soon as I could sit on the road bike and hold it up with my "bad" ankle I was on the road about 2 weeks later I was back on the trials bike. Of course both of these times of re-entering the motocycle realm were about a month or two earlier than what my wife thought was a good time line. God bless her, she cares but just doesn't understand my frame of mind. I can be a :D from time to time.

  14. oh geez!!!

Don did you have to hijack this tred(hahaha) come on you had your say in the "Lane's apology" thread. let it go. Oh and why is everyone backing up their opinions? In Don's world you do not have to take responsibility or explain what is meant about what you say or type.

The topic for this was a request for a new forum.

Andy has been kind enough to add such forum.

therefore there is no extremely important reason to keep this thread open, Andy pleas close this one. The original desired result has come about.

    Thanks for the new forum.

  15. OK in the ever changing world of Zippy wants something but then reality kicks in.

I have decided to take apart current caliper again clean everything, pistons, pads, pad holding pins, clean disk, reassemble with new O-ring and bleed very well. Also will replace brake line, the way that it acts I keep thinking that there is a weak spot in the line that is bulging out when more pressure is applied. If this does not work then back to the drawing board.

Thank you all for your help, learned a bit, went a little looney (was already mostly there anyways) ;)

    ;)

But no one has the right to make personal attacks on people whether it be on here or anywhere.

That may be true in Canada (which definitely has limits on unpopular speech), but in the United States we have a Constitution that guarantees us the freedom to make personal attacks (though it does not supply us a forum, and posters have zero rights here or on any other privately owned forum). In fact, down here, we cherish that right and we put in right up front in our Bill of Rights.

Agreed that we have freedom of speech, but if we do not have to back up our "unpopular" ideas with facts, then explain to me why there are so many court cases that involve "so and so said this about me in the press" and the "so and so" guy has no proof of their accusations and ends up paying money to the "me" person.

I like having freedom of speech, I like their being different viewpoints, no body says we have to agree. But I also believe that if you say something it is your responsibility to have the balls to back it up!!! If you truly believe it than be able to back it up and have just cause or facts to support it.

One more thing that I just thought of: Lane is such a powerful being that just the mention of his name has produced a political and idealogical discussion of great magnitude. He should be so proud. (read: without even posting Lane is able to rile up alot of people)

  17. I am not sure which has me dismayed the most: The fact that there is a tred (haha tribute) about Lane, and rather lengthy I may add. Or the fact that I am actually reading and posting in it. ;)

OK the Dude is banned, he breached forum rules therefore banned. Let him go, it is not worth worrying about. But I'll wager if he still lurks these forums and reads them that he is having a good chuckle about the fact that we all is still talking about him. ;)

I gotta say my opinion is that "high traffic does not always equal quality content".

It will take place on the 24th November in Cordoba, Spain,

got the info from the F.I.M website so guess its gonna be correct.

Think we all know who's going to win it though dont we.

    UMMMM! THE U.S. !!!!!! yep that's who.

wait a minute are we even attending the indoor?

is it a totally different invitation system for th indoor than the outdoor?

Say what you like and I know there are much better riders out there but I am very pleased with how the U.S. finished in this years outdoor.

OH and the previous questions are serious, if anyone has the answers please share.
