  1. Well have made my decision then:

I was originally trying to get it running perfect and then sell it.

it is becoming more than I want to deal with cuz it just needs to leave my garage.

So I just gonna sell it.

I like good things that are simple and work form a design and engineering standpoint! And for reliability and maintenance! What can you fix sitting on the side of the road? Easily? Anyone had a load of bad dirty fuel in a Mont? You are fu---!

I think that Copemech makes a very good point here.

The majority of trials riders are do-it-yourselfers when it comes to maintenance and repair. I am decently mechanically inclined and if I have access to proper spares on the day of the event I can repair just about anything that may break on event day and continue to ride. The way the bikes are made now are relatively easy to diagnose the problem, if getting into throttle by wire now there are sensors, contact points, and more wires. if you crash in the water and the throttle is submerged what will that do to the throttle by wire?

What I am trying to say is that the new technology is more difficult for the majority of riders to understand, the majority of riders are not 17-18 and totally interested in all things electronic. Majority I think are 25-50 and mechanically inclined.

Just my opinion, and usually nobody cares anyways

  3. air filter is okie dokie, I even tried running the bike with out the air filter for a few minutes and it did not change.

The bike came with a tune up kit, New points, condenser, and plug.

I will give the points and condenser a try.

I have not done this sort of thing so a few questions

What is the proper method of flywheel removal so that ignition timing is not messed up?

what is the proper gap for the points? (sll I remember from when I was a kid was they need tobe gapped right)

I hope it is not a crankshaft seal.

Thanks for all the ideas and help

  4. OK here is the long story:

Got a TY80 from a relative, was told it was running before gas all evaporated out of tank and tank rusted up.

First did a Kreem kit on the tank (looks spiffy)

    clean out carb.

    still don't run quite right.

    Cleaned out carb numerous times.

    still don't run quite right.

This is the most recent items done to bike:

clean carb with solvent, remove all jets, choke assembly, remove air fuel screw, clean all parts and blew compressed air through all passages.

Set the carb with fuel air screw 1.5 full turns out.

set needle clip in 2nd from top groove. Was originally in the top groove.

gap spark plug NGK B6HS (nice golden brown in color) gapped to .022in or .5-.6mm

    This is how it runs:

    Starts pretty easy with choke

    It will warm up

when sitting idling if given gas it will bog down and stall.

If you are able to keep the revs up it runs beautiful.

messing with choke about 1/4 or 1/2 choke will keep the revs up.

it will idle well for quite some time and then eventually stall.

have tried upping the idle a bit, but no change in how it responds to gas, but if idle adjusted up to where it runs good it sounds like it reving pretty high.

if reved up good runs great and will cruise around yard with my big tush on it. In order to ride around yard gotta rev it up and basically dump the clutch and keep revs up, when shifting it will bog when first shifting but with much gas will rev up and go. (this all may be due to my big tush being on it aroung the yard.

Changed the needle clip back to the top groove, and this had no effect on how it ran.

Even after the head, exhaust pipe, and exhaust gasses are HOT it still will bog when given gas while idling in neutral.

Also noticed al fair amount of oil on the cases and area near the base gasket location.

Any ideas? What did I goof up? What catastrophic thing is broke?

  5. My question is should i put weight because most sections in Kent are muddy? I like Mcdonalds and KFC and don't mind the odd pie, these outlets/foods are on my healthy food list so perhaps i should eat a lot more chocolate. I do my best to stay away from chocolate as i know your all going say that it is bad for me.

Scientific research has proven that chocolate is good for you.

As far as putting on weight..............ain't helped me much....but shaving the head and putting on a fire breathing penguin does wonders.

    :D

Just hitch a ride with Biff, put all the bike parts in the back of the Volvo or whatever it is and he will probably make you drive 15 hours and sleep on the ground! Everything is normal!

Basically that is normal. Except he has a miata, way cool car.

Don't remember the name of the movie, but a advertising exec. decides to write ads truthfully and one he came up with was "Volvo--Boxy but good"

he ended up in the asylum :o:rotfl:

I think we have to go to texas for to see the xispa zippy. I think huffy bicycles is looking for a poster child. You might want to hit up Walmart.... Hmmmm lets see Texas or Oklahoma in January or Michigan..... Hows the clutch in your truck? If not then we will have to take the Miata....

I was liking the idea of Harbor Freight that I saw in a thread around here somewhere.

The clutch in the truck sorta works, if you shove the shift lever hard enough it goes into gear, sometimes even on the first try!!!

Better take the Miata besides it looks cooler than my truck. Maybe we can stay at Copies' house, than we would be loco and local.

This has been a fun thread, but for those that may not understand it totally, it is all just in good fun !

I ain't never understood nuthin' totally. But it been fun.

If you need to understand my state of mind just check out my avatar.

Sorry guys, but as you are not LOCAL, I have no way of monitoring the wear and tear on the Chinese goods, yourself, or the minder to see which one lasts the longest!!!

    Local no I guess not

    But LOCO most definately.

OK serious questions, Is there a US importer? How much gonna cost? Is there really 3 bikes to be tested by riders?

I would be interested to find out how well they hold up and some pics of said reliability and testing would be nice.

    :o

  9. copemech Posted Sep 8 2007, 09:38 PM

Well, since the cat is out of the bag, 3 bikes of the initial shipment will be allocated to local experts for testing and evaluation. The package includes everything needed for competition at NO cost! All you have to do is show up and ride!

Wheels, brakes, tires, batteries, levers, grips, mudguards, bearings, clutches, dildo, fuel, travel costs, food, beverage, fanny pack, hats, baseball shirts, black boots(military), knee pads, gloves, Wranglers and helmet!

If you don't like the bikes, you or you fat minder can go screw yourself! He He He!

Any takers for a full factory ride!

let's hope one of those items is to keep the Mrs. happy whilst rider is away.

Hey throw my name in the hat!!

I am in the bottom of the Advanced class but hey for a full factory ride I would move up to expert. (If I don't like a section I can always jump off the bike and get a 5).

Is it a problem if I am fatter than my minder????

Would I still have to go screw myself????

Can I cut the wranglers into shorts??

If you want to join bent fenders then i am the guy who you have to talk to.

Here is what you need to do.

    1. showup

    2. ride with us.

    3. have fun... hahahaha

Its just that simple. We could use the new member.

Zippy lives in St. Charles. (south of saginaw) He should be chiming in any time now.... ahemm zippy....

    --Biff

    He forgot

    4. watch Biff crash and laugh your a*** off.

    mxasp

Yep Bent Fenders is the closest geographically to you. Biff is a good guy to get a hold of rides more than most of us.

pm me and I can give easy to follow directions to our club property, if you would like to come out.

I may be there saturday Sept 15 (depends on if the wife lets me go out and play)

Look for the bald, fat guy wearing shorts while riding.

  11. OK first off OUCH!!!! and I hope you heal quickly and that all is well when it is all done.

Second: you have got to come up with a better story than tripping over the hoover cord. How are you going to wow and impress anyone that way.

(It may be the truth but it is a bit dull)

May I suggest something that starts "And so there I was....just me my bike and the 8 foot wall..........."

Whatever you do in the game of life, keep it interesting and inspiring for you. Show up at a Trial dressed as a balerina, it could give you a competetive advantage. I did that once at a martial arts tournament, I cleaned up my division, my opponents couldn't stop laughing!! Thanks to Dennis Rodman for that inspiration!

We had an event near Halloween and my 2 riding buddies showed up as a King and Ceaser. So I did the only thing possible in that situation, I rolled out the red carpet for the King to walk each section, and yelled "Hail Ceaser" when Ceaser rode a section.

Apparently riding in a toga is very difficult.

but when you ride like we do ya need to make it fun.
