OK this may get me blasted, I realize that we are all individuals and require different things from our bikes.
I have noticed there are ALOT of threads about "taming the sherco 290" or "easing the power delivery" or similiar type of things. My question is two fold, first is there anybody out there that likes their sherco 290 as stock right outa the crate so to speak? Secondly, is there anybody that likes the power to be "snappy", instant, right there right now?
disclaimer: I have a 2000 290 that I bought used and I believe it is stock. I know this makes me look a bit silly not knowing for sure if there is 1 base gasket or 2 or if the ignition is retarded or if there were any carb changes, and it probably could use a new set of rings. But the previous questions are mostly "acedemic" any way, just curious.

Was that color red or alot of pink?
Actually looked like a bit of good riding, that last section appeared to be some pretty loose sandy type stuff.

MOTA all the way!!!!!!! Zippy

I am always amazed at how smooth the older guys ride, sometimes it is just poetry in motion.
-
Fire away! I am oppinionated (sp), usually full of it, balding, fat, mediocre rider. And yes getting older. have fun.
-
FIRE! FIRE! HEE HEE HEE FIRE!
Good to hear you got it all sorted out Sam.

I am not sure what 13 stone is but I am about 225 pounds and I run 5 wt year round. Still amazed the bike hauls my butt around.

The guy doing the yelling is the "minder", basically he is the coach. His job is to make sure the rider is in the correct position, placement of tire, etc.
Yep would drive me completely off the edge too. Also I believe at the world round level of competition those riders definately should be good enough to know where their rear tire is.

I could be dense (well more likely than not) but this kinda confuses me about built up air in the forks.
If the fork tube is a sealed system than theoretically the amount of oil and air within the chamber(s) should not change.
All I can think of is that air bubbles may become trapped in the oil through vigorous use, and would need to allow to rise up out of the oil.
or possibly the warmer the tubes the more the air pressure inside the tube, but I would think that it would take a rather large temperature change to cause significant amount of pressure.
Are the fork seals not perfectly sealed and that is where the air enters?
Just having trouble grasping this.

aaaaahahhhh! I sit before my computer screen corrected.

Are you hinting that someone may have returned from filming a major stunt in a major film in (insert country of your choice) and has not had time to be online and make a response to things said to him?
-
My sherco 2.9 is a year 2000 and I believe it still has the original rings. Maybe it is time for a new set.
-
It was not just you I had a problem earlier this morning. Maybe it was just us.

Have there been reports of somebody really checking out HL's avatar again?

I are a cheap redneck yessir
Nope no scrambler, that there is a 1968 Sears Puch 250 2 stroke with 2 pistons and 1 combustion chamber. It's a pretty neat bike. but not running at this time.
-
Yea thanks, that's why I am stuck with the dang thing and can't get a new one.
That water landing was HILARIOUS!!!

I like to wrap the handle bar and the throttle tube with a layer of electral tape, dump a little gas in the grip and swish, swish slide it on. Grips never move after that.

This may be a bit extreme or totally irrelevent, but one of the pinch bolts for my front axle was broke off and seized in when I bought the bike. I tried the easy-out and broke the not-so-easy-out. Total disassembly of offending fork. Took lower fork tube to awesome welder guy. He cut out that section where the bolt was, filled in the chanel that was created when cutting out bolt and stuff. Re drilled and tapped the hole. I have had no problems since, works great. But I don't know if the yokes can be welded as the lower fork tube was. But maybe solution instead of buying a new yoke.

I gonna stick with my glasses, I tried contacts just couldn't get myself to shove something into my eye, and I have seen a video of a Lasek eye surgery. It was right up close to the eyeball I won't get too graphic but eeeeewwwwww a flap is sliced off the cornea and then the laser hits the area under it. The flap is just laid back over no stitching I think it heals back up.
I Like glasses.

Nope, can't, my computor skills are exhausted just doing a cut and paste for the quotes in the forum.

Im my best Beavis impersonation: "Fire, fire, he he fire."

Sam,
Have you tried starting it with the exhaust off?
Not sure if it would run correctly that way or not due to back pressure being wrong but that may help to figure out if exhaust is plugged.
