  1. I could be dense (well more likely than not) but this kinda confuses me about built up air in the forks.

If the fork tube is a sealed system than theoretically the amount of oil and air within the chamber(s) should not change.

All I can think of is that air bubbles may become trapped in the oil through vigorous use, and would need to allow to rise up out of the oil.

or possibly the warmer the tubes the more the air pressure inside the tube, but I would think that it would take a rather large temperature change to cause significant amount of pressure.

Are the fork seals not perfectly sealed and that is where the air enters?

    Just having trouble grasping this.

banning people and locking deleting topics ? not a forum really at all, off topic off center ? moderator ? perhaps we should just ask what were supposed to say

Could you translate that into something meaningful or have you just surfaced after 3 months to have a dig?

Are you hinting that someone may have returned from filming a major stunt in a major film in (insert country of your choice) and has not had time to be online and make a response to things said to him? :icon_salut:

Mate, if you busy checking out the adams apples on the ladies, makes me wonder what kind of circles you've been hanging with...........

Hey better to find an adams apple early on than something more serious when the lights go down.

I've got to say I'm not speaking from experience, but I've heard some horror stories

There's people cringing all over the world

Back to the original topic I think

Have there been reports of somebody really checking out HL's avatar again? :D

Zippy, you hilbilly! Is that my old 305 Scrambler in your avitar?

I are a cheap redneck yessir

Nope no scrambler, that there is a 1968 Sears Puch 250 2 stroke with 2 pistons and 1 combustion chamber. It's a pretty neat bike. but not running at this time. :D

  5. Ps... Zippy when you broke your ankle and i was driving your truck i was going to acutally peel off and take it to mexico but i soon realized how much of a p.o.s. it was and decided to stick with the orginal plan

Yea thanks, that's why I am stuck with the dang thing and can't get a new one. :D

    That water landing was HILARIOUS!!!

  6. This may be a bit extreme or totally irrelevent, but one of the pinch bolts for my front axle was broke off and seized in when I bought the bike. I tried the easy-out and broke the not-so-easy-out. Total disassembly of offending fork. Took lower fork tube to awesome welder guy. He cut out that section where the bolt was, filled in the chanel that was created when cutting out bolt and stuff. Re drilled and tapped the hole. I have had no problems since, works great. But I don't know if the yokes can be welded as the lower fork tube was. But maybe solution instead of buying a new yoke.

  7. I gonna stick with my glasses, I tried contacts just couldn't get myself to shove something into my eye, and I have seen a video of a Lasek eye surgery. It was right up close to the eyeball I won't get too graphic but eeeeewwwwww a flap is sliced off the cornea and then the laser hits the area under it. The flap is just laid back over no stitching I think it heals back up.

    I Like glasses.

    Clear as mud

come on then clever clogs you do better.......

Nope, can't, my computor skills are exhausted just doing a cut and paste for the quotes in the forum.

    myself

    :D

  9. I was just sittin' here thinking earlier that it is pretty easy (once the fear is put aside) from a skill point of view to just pin the throttle and fly off the jump into the wild blue yonder. The really skillful part is landing without mangling yourself.

Barry-bike-tree this was one of those moments when you ask if those super grippy expensive pedals were worth it? 21 stitches in the back of my leg

We have a gentleman who is an excellent rider that sharpens his foot pegs to a point. This of course keeps his boots on the pegs REAL well. Unfortunately at a section that I was observing he went up a fairly steep hill with a log at the top that was hanging over the edge, nicely undercut. His foot came off the peg and the peg scraped upwards on his shin. The part where his boot was did not have any damage but he got a really nasty cut or two between the boot and his knee, I may be wrong but I believe it required stitches. He is a tough one though didn't say a word at the time and finished the event. My hat's off to him.

but of course those super grippy pedals and the sharp pegs are worth it, you just gotta remember how many times it kept your foot on so there was no dab and a lower score!! :banana2:

  10. I have come to a conclusion......... with my limited time on a MX bike (one time out) and watching many YouTube videos also lots of shows about "amazing things caught on tape".

Jumping and tricks are easy (relatively) but that landing has got to be the hardest thing to pull off. :banana2:

oops this was suppose to be in "anything goes" sorry

    Thanks Andy

  11. Well, if the limelight makes you uncomfortable than by all means avoid it. But Thanks for the site, even for us cheap b@#$!#ds.

As for Barney - I can't even recall how or when he came to be my avatar, but it's been years. AtomAnt then offered to animate it with the trademark belch and I could hardly refuse. It does, however have its downside. Last year I went into a restaurant for a coffee before a meeting. They had free WIFI so I took advantage and accidently hit Barney without the sound muted. Ever seen a restaurant go silent and have everybody stare at you?

    :banana2::blink::rotfl:

    That's FUNNY!

as for the question, sadly yes I have seen an entire restaurant go silent and everbody stare at us. This always seems to happen when me and the missus take our 3 boys out with us to the restaurant. Man, I gotta say kids are a blast.

  12. Why won't I sign up as a Supporter?

Call me cheap, lazy, paranoid.........whatever I don't care.

I just have no ambition or gumption to do so.

What REALLY bothers me is that the Site Supporters get this huge logo under their avatar but the SITE OWNER has just 2 small, little words under his avatar telling us who he is. Remember, this is the guy that gives up spare time, uses vacations to report on trials, deals with scammers and spammers just to bring us this wonderfull site, one would think he should be just a tad flashier.

Andy I really enjoy the Belching Barnery avatar, and my four year old sees me on here and tells me "make him burp".

I agree that it will take some "Other" organization to create a series. The GNCC series really opened up off road racing in the east. And it didn't just benefit the pros, the sportsman classes are HUGE. I would say because of that series The racing sport Quad was ressurected by the manufacturers.

Instead of looking for a club, maybe a good promoter would do the trick. It's not like they would need our permission. If you knew there was an event that attracted a thousand entries twenty or thirty Pros, that was run like clockwork you would want to go! ( would that be ALL the trials bikes?)

Yep, seen more racing quads and utility quads for that matter.

I guess it would take a promoter that was willing to take the risk of holding a single event (Endurocross) to get it started and then make a series. Maybe get RedBull to throw some money at it, they are into sponsoring or advertising at "extreme" sports events. Maybe nobody sees it as a money making venture.

That would be ALL the trials bikes in the US plus the few hundred that got sold just before the event to fill the entries.

Boo Hoo, that lane is so wrong and hurt my "Feelings"!

I think maybe turn off Oprah and switch to some ultimate fighting, that should give you some perspective. Even those "Pro's get paid.

Who gives a rats tail if you agree with lane or not. Why can't you give your opinion without having to qualify every thing Lane ever talked about. Will the kids at daycare beat you up if you agree with him? or is it the nursing home? You waste a lot of thread space constantly whining about what Lane may have said at some point.

Why not "wow Lane Great Point!". You are an asset to TC.

Or "Lane you're dead wrong, And here's why........"

Well, apparently a "tongue in cheek" comment about agreeing with someone I normally don't agree with is wasted on you.

    back on topic:

Would there be funds available or "thrown around" to pay the "pro" trials riders if the AMA spent more time and money on advertising the sport and generating interest?

Or maybe we need the AMA, NATC, USMTA, Sponsors, or some other organization to create a pro series similiar to the schedule/format of Supercross. It may require that the series be indoor events, and really would that be that terrible if it was?

  15. At the risk of going off topic.

Yes Lane you do have some good points to be made, and other points I may not see eye to eye with you on. I guess for what I don't agree with is your presentation of the ideas, unfortunately it is difficult to describe or pin down any one item or style. Let's just say that we have a clash of personalities, and that we may still be able to agree on a few things.

    On topic:

If it is called "PRO" then there should be some monatary compensation. Whether it is trials or competative basket weaving it don't matter.
