The whole inspiration for this question came about a couple of days ago when here in Michigan we got our first "real"winter storm. There were a large amount of reports in local media of cars going off the road and getting into accidents. I am thinking that trials riders have a better understanding of traction and throttle control than non-trials riders, so the assumption is that we would be better drivers. Disclaimer: This is a broad generalization and I am not saying that a non-trials rider could not be a good driver. Also obviously the last 2 options are meant for humor.

Most of us married guys don't get a shot to the dude eggs at any trials. We can't seem to get them out of the wife's purse...

I had a Yamaha TY 175 as a kid and that thing would go anywhere, apparently Yamahas can also climb trees. Now that's funny!!!!!

Sorry FanticMatze but we don't have any regularily scheduled events in the winter. There are a couple of people thinking about organizing a winter fun trial but I am unsure of what stage that is in or if it will happen. During the winter I forget what my bike looks like in one piece. For a couple months the swingarm is over there, the tires are against that wall, and tank is hiding under the bench, basically it's all over the garage, same as the other 3 bikes, hhhmmmm........I sense a pattern, guess I better get in gear and put something back together.

Yep that is the kind of bike I have. But mine is green. This particular Ninja has gone through the start and end gates in 2 sections in its lifetime (beginner line of course) but I do prefer the sherco for trials. Now, if anyone can point me in the direction of an online parts diagram or better still a repair manual I would greatly appreciate it. I guess I thought this forum was for more than just help with trials bikes.

I have a 99 kawasaki ninja 250 that I need to replace the cam chain. I am in need of a parts diagram or repair manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I gotta say I was quite impressed with Biff's handling of the "Repsol Honda Reflex". It's a little dirty but no worse for wear. Did I mention the tires are about 20 years old too? Ed was really smooth on that Triumph cub of his. I forgot what year that bike is. Pat and myself had last place all locked up in our classes. Intermediate and Advanced respectively. I had a blast, always love to ride, (don't like little roly poly rocks though) I know the other guys had fun too. It was definately worth the 5 hour ride home and 3.5 hours of sleep before work on monday. I would like to say a big thank you to the land owner and the organizers of the event. Top notch job. Brockway, Sorry my post may be a bit misleading, I don't think Biff is actually going to compete on the Honda, just putt around and keep up on the trail. But I told him as long as he don't break it he could compete with it. Is all that snow from Thursday 02NOV06? That would definately been interesting. edited for spelling.

Brockway, If you go to Enon this weekend, Look for a fully lighted and license plated 1986 Honda TLR 200 to be piloted by the Biffster. Biff, remember to use the turn signals so we all know where you are going.

Not sure what you are talking about Sam, the Ty80 thing? I meant in response to "alot of adults should be on 125's" to learn technique. That the way I ride, I need to really work on the technique and that an 80cc would teach me more. But this has me thinking, I wonder if the TY80 would pull my rather large behind over that first rock in section one this past weekend?

In my own little world the two things that I believe to be the most important after balance is THROTTLE AND CLUTCH control. When balancing try letting the clutch out just a bit and get a feel for when it "bites", of course at some point you may need to give it a small amount of gas to keep the engine from stalling. For throttle control alone, a good muddy or slippy spot is good place to practice, try making it through the "section" without spinning the rear tire. hope some of this helps, welcome to the best sport on the planet, (no matter what part of the planet) Or I may be a complete blithering idiot, don't ask my wife she will say yes.

Yes Yes I am henpecked. My wife runs the house and I just do as I am told. But she is such a wonderful, understanding, lovely and kind lady why would I want to spend more than a few moments away from her? Is she out of the room now? Thanks Biff, I thought I saw "Gifts to" but I am so blind I couldn't see the rest. I have heard of many of the broken parts, and seen some of the quick fixes until the proper parts arrive so you could ride the next weekend. My favourite is still the threaded rod through the headstock to hold that shaft together. I gotta say you are very inventive and the best part is it works. Fastest Indian was a great movie. Only one thing I don't understand what does "Bobs your uncle" mean or where did the phrase originate from.

Buying a helmet should be pretty easy. If you want a general open face helmet many motorcycle shops around that will have them in stock. If you are looking for a trials specific helmet try Ryan Young Products, or The Tryals shop There are probably other importers that I am forgetting.

I don't know of any practice areas in the Detroit, Troy area but if she wanted to ride in some trials events she should check out http://www.motatrials.org/ and click on the next event tab at the top. This is the website for the Michigan Ontario Trials Association. We have six clubs in the association and each club puts on two events for the year. Hope this helps. on edit: yep Biff would definately know.
