  1. use the bolt as a pry point. loosen the bolt a few threads so that it sticks out a little bit. then take the kickstarter and "open it up" like you would to start the bike. the kickstart lever will contact the bolt and "pull" itself off the shaft.

    Budget Trials Build

All depends if you planned it to be a long term project from the beginning or if you wanted it done before the following week of starting it. If you planned long term, just take it at the pace you can get and enjoy the build.
  3. In theory as you tightened the bolt into the spindle it should have pulled the spindle in the rest of the way if it was not quite tapped all the way in. I was just thinking if the pinch bolts in the motor were tight it wouldn't let the spindle move. but you had them loose at the time of tightening. Quite frankly, I am at a loss.
  4. Did you tighten the swing arm axle bolt with the motor pinch bolts loose?
  5. Leo Moracchioli has some of the best cover songs I have heard.
  6. Whack the tire against a tree to make it move the other direction.
  7. my transmission parts arrived on Thursday, that night I found out I have an opportunity to ride with the Neiderer brothers on Saturday (today) So Friday evening I reassembled the engine and rest of the bike. Took me a little while (hours, too many to admit to and a couple ) but she is together. So before heading out to ride today with friends and the Neiderer boys, I fired up the Old BAGG to put around the yard to verify all going well. All did not go well, she ran like crap. I blamed it on the copious amounts of 2 stroke oil I used on the cylinder and piston for the reassembly. so off to the trials property, met the boys. Very nice guys, easy to chat with. No big egos getting in the way. and very very good riders. My bike continues to run like crap, revs way high on choke and bogs out when given throttle and take forever to idle down. So with those symptoms if you guessed "sucking in extra air" you win a prize! go to your nearest fridge and retrieve your prize. (I am too cheap to supply one) My buddy Biff, the great thinker, suggested spraying carb cleaner at the base gasket. and guess what that caused the bike to stall out. DING DING found the problem, base gasket sucking in air. but why?????? It turns out in my haste last night to reassemble, and the use of assembly fluid , I had left a 1 inch piece of the old base gasket on the cylinder when I put it back together. Break out the tool box right there in the parking area, time to fix the Old BAGG so I can give her a proper thrashing. And yes everyone thought "this is kinda sketchy, but if it works it will be cool" I took off the carb, motor mount to the cylinder, header pipe, remove water pump from clutch cover, basically whatever I needed disconnected to be able to lift the cylinder up about a half inch. Lift the cylinder and use a this flat head screwdriver and needle nose pliers to gently remove the offending piece of base gasket. Reassemble the bike and viola it runs like a top again. Off to play and watch others. Alex and Andreas are very talented, riding up near vertical hills out of creek with only a bike length run at it. Rear wheel hopping two logs and then to an elevated log. just so much going on, Both are very smooth. I was highly impressed. I was also impressed with buddy Biff, he was trying most of the stuff they were riding, total mental. Both of them would chat with us, discuss various techniques. Great couple of guys. about 15 mins before everyone was done for the day my bike decides to act like she is starving for fuel. So I am now off to the garage to clean my carb.
  8. I too am old (43) and do much trials practicing on Xbox Trials HD, and Trials Evolution. (easier to while practicing trials that way)
  9. Welcome back, glad you are enjoying yourself. Arthritis sucks Nothing like joint pain to shut down a really fun day.
  10. It is amazing how much of a Ninja this fat middle aged body can be when crashing and trying to get away from a falling bike.
  11. I run 4psi in the rear and 6psi in the front. I weigh (ahem quite a bit more than 200 lbs we will leave it at that) anyway I have ridden with a completely flat rear tire and it was only a little squirly I have ridden with a completely flat front tire and gained many points and crashes. hope this helps................but probably not
  12. So basically every time I ride then - check
  13. The kickstarter already stuck up too far and looked like it would get in the way. Now even more so. How long before the kickstarter is so long you can use your hand to start it. (similar to those manual crank start cars)
  14. Build a Teeter Totter. hours of fun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaYGaQlepPg
  15. Good Job enjoy a well running bike
  16. I needed to replace the rear rubber on mine and of course it was not available from anywhere. so I replaced the front rubber with a new one and cut the front section of the old one off to use as a replacement rear rubber. Don't know if you currently have a front rubber piece that you could do that with. but it's an option.
  17. Holes in the peg have worn oval. the "plate" on the peg that contacts the mount has worn an angle on it. mounting bolt wear as mentioned above. You have really picky feet? (just trying to cover all the possibilities )
  18. Talk to Biffsgasgas about how to get that hitch on a Miata. he successfully pulled a 3 place open trailer with his for many years. Was the coolest car to roll up in the pits. And moved some logs etc around the trials property as well. Also if you need a roof rack on the Miata he is the man that know how to make that happen.

    Snail Cams

Honestly I don't think it matters which direction they are facing. I and a friend both have 2003 GasGas 300's and our snail cams face opposite directions. both work
  20. Welcome to the wonderful weird world of trials. Glad you could join us
