  1. You really got to know your bike that evening.

I had a 2000 Sherco that had problems with the swing arm spindle nut periodically loosening up. I used a couple drops of lock tite BLUE to help hold it in place. Did not use red, I still wanted to be able to take it back off.

  2. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has a section about Belgium:

    "Belgium.

Less offensive words have been created in the many languages of the galaxy, such as joojooflop, swut and Holy Zarquon's Singing Fish.

The reason the Earth has been shunned for so long is also due to a language problem. On Earth, Belgium refers to a small country. Throughout the rest of the galaxy, Belgium is the most unspeakably rude word there is. "

Read more on the BBC site that I "lifted" the quote from.

  3. Well we didn't have the 100+ we were hoping but 71 on the first day and 65 on the second wasn't too bad. We all seemed to have fun and the weather was great! Saturday night we had a alch.... ummm ice tea fueled hill climb which showed me that i need to loose a few pounds. WGASA jethro made it look easy with his raga then even easier with my ty175. The Howard clan got their hondamod up there and zippy's trials quad made it about 10 feet before it almost killed the crowd.

Thanks for a great weekend all who helped! We had a blast.

    --Biff

Side note: Zippy was not piloting said trials quad at the time. Team WGASA member Snickers was the "adventurous soul" for that. Zippy took the role of inebriated observer :popcorn:

  4. Why not just drill the mounting holes and cut the teeth and the little chamfer thingies at the teeth and call it good?

Solid piece, no recesses, no big holes at the recess spots. Just a flat sprocket, and then put a sticker on it with a kick ass design.

When making the sprocket the entire piece of alluminum is purchased, whether it is turned into little shavings or not.

    Less time machining = cheaper

    Stickers = cheap(ish) in bulk.

  5. I walked my lazy butt into the garage and looked at my frame number

Yours is VTRGG300203030072 Mine is VTRGG30020403xxxx

So would the number suggest GG300 made Febuary 03 of 2003 and yours is number 72 to come off the production line?

Just curious what all those numbers mean

Also stamped in the cylinder next to exhaust port on clutch lever side is GG30

  6. I have a 2003 TXT PRO 300. It has blue plastics.

As far as I understand how this all worked out is this.

    2002 - Pro engine introduced 125, 200, 250, 280

2003 - Pro engine tweeked for reliability and 300 added at some point in the year

2004 - 300 Officially released with silver plastics etc.. and some fanfare.

If I am incorrect, someone will correct it.

OH and if you would like to look at pics of different years

    http://gasgasmuseum.com/

seems as though the museum site is currently having difficulties. I am unable to click anything or nivigate on that site.

  7. Yep Montesa has been a Honda with Montesa stickers for years.

But maybe with the "name change" we could see Honda 4RT Trials bikes in the USA Honda dealerships????

(It would be good for the sport but I still won't buy one of those overpriced heavy lumps)

  8. I believe they are low on members, also attendance to the events have been dropping off. Which is something I don't understand. The events are always fun, they do a good job with the property they have available. The new Wardsville property was AWESOME, the property owner is a great guy, would hang around the campfire with us, had a power washer set up for us to use....

and another thing to consider. The Windsor group crosses the border multiple times to attend the other MOTA events. It is only polite if the rest of MOTA crosses the border 2 times/ (once for 2 day event) per year and support the Windsor club.

    OK Rant over..............

  9. Unfortunately the Windsor Motorcycle Club will not be hosting an event this season. We all hope that the club is able to return next year. I have always had a good time at the past events. Friendly people, challenging sections, just a good day out.

On edit: (so if you wish to see me ride around showing off my pasty, hairy, flabby legs with my fashionable and protective riding shorts, you will need to travel to Michigan or Indiana. I know that is one heck of a motivator isn't it?)

  10. I completely avoid any of the problems associated with pant legs by wearing shorts. They are comfortable, roomy, offer full range of motion, plenty of ventilation on those really warm days and really show off my hairy, pasty, flabby legs that drive the ladies wild.

  11. Make the videos for your own satisfaction. If you like the music than put it in there. If I don't like the music I simply watch with the volume off. Good videos/camera angles etc..

All the "older"/"established" riders please remember that these young gentlemen are just that, young. This statement is not meant for anyone to not critique the video. Especially since the young men actually ask to have the video critiqued. But the reason I say remember they are young is because these videos are not necessarily meant for the "older/established" audieance, they will show these videos to their friends etc.... and that music may be what gets others their age to keep watching the video. and the more youngsters that watch the better the chance they will want to ride.

  12. What did I do to my GG today? Topped up the tank, dressed up and rode it in ice and snow in the county forest!

It was just too nice out. So I rode it out to 2nd line and back, following the dirt road in the Drury 1 county forest trackt, and the groomed 2-track snowmobile trails. Slippery as ****! But never dumped it. Put a foot down more times than I can count, but man, that's a good way to learn to "feel" your bike, when you have no front or rear wheel traction on ice and slushy snow! I headcam'ed the whole trip....not sure I'll post it though.....

Still and all...it was a great to be on two wheels!

Maybe Spring is finally springing in my neck of the woods..... :hyper:

Your Bio says Canada...........sorry to say sir, but Spring does not arrive in that particular part of the world. :D

  13. Hey 68,

I found that the side by side event was well received and was fun to do if you have the space. It is great if you can do it as part of another event... maybe even get paid to do it :). It certainly helps build interest in the sport and can be a lot of fun. If it isn't a timed event (race) it can typically be covered under the WTC insurance policy like any other trials event... but the riders should still have basic liability insurance coverage on their bikes (which not all riders bother with) as you are typically closer to the public than you are in the woods.
