No new class, The best are the best and should be celebrated as such.
World Trials is entertaining and amazing and does very little to nothing to bring more riders to the sport. (as far as I have seen)
To even the playing field:
Keep the dreaded minimum weight rule (make it realistic so that a standard production bike meets it)
Bikes used in World Trials Competition MUST be a production bike - only "tweaks" available are existing aftermarket bits that are available to the public.
and if those two don't cut it maybe cap the number of tweaks allowed, so the rider will have to choose between greatest suspension and maximum horsepower or some such.
Just thoughts, I am not exactly adamant they will work, my mind can be changed. Discuss
within MOTA (Michigan Ontario Trials Association) we have 6 Clubs, each club hosts 2 events per season. For a rider to be awarded season championship points they must work 2 events per season.
This is how we get the majority of our observers, the members of the club will set up, run, observe their 2 events for the season. and then you ride the other 10. Season championship standings are determined by your best 8 rides.
It seems to work pretty good.
But you do not have to be a member of one of the clubs to ride the events. You will get a trophy that day (provided you finish in the top 3) but you will not be awarded season championship points for the year end awards.
No I couldn't find one on eBay for sale but found this universal one, hopefully it will do the job, I got fed up with the bike falling over, when others just put a side stand down.
I use a tree, rock or a log.......... if none of those are available, I have leaned it against a buddy's bike.
Or just lay it on the ground, that's her happy place anyway. Spends enough time there
I don't like the swining arm design, it will fill up with mud and will also cut a hole in your boots potentially.
A local rider has one, well local (ish), he rides our events. anyway back to topic at hand, he has stated that he has has quite a bit of mud accumulate on the top of the swing arm but never in the sides.
The day I got the look at the bike was an event my club was hosting and it was a mud fest, and sure enough I did not see any mud in the sides of the swing arm.
As for the potential boot damage............. I don't know one way or the other
the oil is propelled by CO2 so it comes out rather cold and really stiffens up the filter. This makes is difficult to fit the "cage" inside the filter without possibly ripping the filter.
So I will gently massage the filter to warm it up, which in turn gets the oil to even out in the filter.
when warmed up, give it a good squeeze to release excess oil and good to go.
Should there be another class in Trial GP?
