Just had a mess about with it if you push the pickup for the flywheel to one side it will run but only just if you push it to other side it starts in reverse lol wtf is that all about
Did you have to loosen the pickup to "push" it or did you just push it and it moved?
If it is loose maybe it starts ok and then vibrates and moves to new position causing bike to stall???
I ride in Alpinestars, very comfy and have lasted me a couple years so far. I ride about 14 events a year and as many practice sessions as the wifey will allow.
If I remember correctly a Montesa 4RT was used for the "Splatter" in the movie Quantum of Solice. Shortly after the splatter there is a "boat jump" where he lands on a boat. I think that is where he is saying they used the CRF450.
............2nd to last!! Hahaha!! I dont really care, I had a blast anyway.
this season at an event we had 2 riders in Sportsman class. The guy in second proudly proclaimed "I got second place" When asked about the other rider the guy in second said "He did not do so good, he came in next to last"
It's an "Easy" trial, and I've entered the "Very Easy" category, so I'm hoping for sections such as The Big Flat Sheet of Plywood, The Muddy Puddle and The Slight Incline.
I'm really looking forward to it, though. Just hope the bike behaves. If I come out half as jazzed as od10, I'll count that as a good day.
And good luck for Sunday, od10!
OH You are falling for the classic misdirection of the course maker........
The Big Flat Sheet of Plywood - will be covered in greasy slime and have zero traction, you will put your foot down all day just trying to turn off the darn thing.
The Muddy Puddle - will be 4 feet deep....
The Slight Incline - will be dry loose sand, your rear tire will just dig a hole.
Actually I have had events where I looked at a section and the spot I thought was going to be easiest I took points all day in that spot. Drives me completely mental....but in a good way.
od10 and nedrapier WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WEIRD WORLD OF TRIALS we are happy to have you and please enjoy yourselves.
Got the bike a month or so ago, but I've not had a chance to use it at all. 1st Trial on Saturday; bar a couple of laps of BVMs car park, it will my first go on a trials bike.
Should be Interesting!
I really need to be a billionaire............................. So I could hop in my private jet and be there to watch you.
Have a good time, don't worry about points....(you will get a few ) Just have fun.
My recently sold 2000 Sherco 2.9 had a VERY light clutch pull. especially compared to the Honda TLR200 Reflex that I rode getting back into trials. And what surprises me is people actually do modifications to make the clutch even easier to pull.
- Ironically, it appears that rain will now be make things very slippery, and with snow forecast for the Mountain Passes, just getting to the Trial, might be a challenge. - Good luck to all particpants
They are trials riders, they will find traction whether it is with the bike or the transport vehicle
Thanks for the advice, shall I throw some tools around my garage too?
I thought that was just standard practice in every garage. Or maybe a couple to make it go smoother. but if there are too many you may forget about fixing the bike and start
But I do agree with Copemech that it is good that chunk did not go in the gears.
You sure?? Gotta be careful when going out these days. Could look like a hen, scratch like a hen, peck like a hen and still use the urinal!! :rotfl:
Bike is looking good, hope you have many many hours of fun on it. Try attending the Fun in The Sun 2 day in 2013, March, April, May sometime in there. I went for the Saturday and had a blast. http://www.floridatrials.net/
We have an event Oct. 13-14 in Vermontville. There will be many bikes there and many people willing to chat and probably let you take them for a spin. Sadly this is the last event for the season.
I am currently Sherco mounted but am looking to go Gas Gas. All the bikes are good but have their own quirks. I have had good results getting parts for my Sherco and have heard parts are easily available for Gas Gas. I suggest getting to an event and riding as many different bikes as you can get on.
We have a member of MOTA that is a Gas Gas dealer and a member that is a Beta / Sherco dealer.
