I would like to congratulate the East Side Club Crew for setting out an amazing, wonderful, challenging and fun event. And then Mother Nature decided she did not like that event and gave us a HUGE amount of rain.
So in the spirit of trials the East Side Club reconfigured the sections (Sat. morning I believe) so they would be rideable and fun, Taking into account what mother nature gave them to deal with they did very well coming up with a good event. It is just a shame that we could not ride on the hillsides.
Slipping and sliding was the order of the day, I did at one point wonder if I was supposed to be laying on my back looking at the sky that much. Firstgear this is your cue to post that "this is what 2nd place looks like" pic. I had fun on Sat. was a good time.
Sunday did not work too good for me, I had to DNF when my bike decided it did not want to have the coolent stay in the radiator. Doggone thing overheated with the fan running and the radiator clear through the fins. Well time to check the water pump.
Trials riders are tougher than Baseball players........we don't quit for rain. And we get paid A LOT less.

OH sure, I am not allowed to have alcohol and then drive, but my truck and bikes can have alcohol!!! That's just not fair!!

And that is what makes our sport so special and unique. Also what makes it so hard for the General Competitive Motorsports People to understand.
I had a minder for the 2 rounds I rode couple of years ago and I am glad he was there. He not only carried water, tools and my broken shift lever, ( was stuck in 2nd gear for 3/4 of the loop ) But he also helped me to relax, I was so nervous cuz I was riding a NATIONAL. And I am in my 30's and rode Sportsman class.
-
You should be pleased that there are so many minders for the Support classes. Because as the title states Minders=$ and therefore more money to pay to have those better awards and t-shirts made. Rate the awards

The Garage is a great place for somebody with graphics ADHD like me. I change the way it looks so often, even members of my own club don't know if I got a new bike or not. But changing graphics is cheaper than a new bike.

Thanks Biff,
Sad thing I don't ride much better now!!
And she still has "Them" in her purse
-
well then post it in The Shed
-
See ya at Rose City,
Sorry I could not be of any actual help.
Good luck to ya'll
-
Sounds like it just needs to be prepared properly.
Not sure if I wanna give it a go though..............I am not much of a hunter probably won't even be able to find one to shoot at.
-
Just thinking from the environmentalist standpoint.......................................Didja hurt the tree???
Sounds like a HUGE ouch dude, heal quickly.
Don't give up trials: here is my logic.
You were injured on the trail, not in a section.
You were traveling fast and wheelying. That points to this being a Moto X or FMX injury. So stop the MX and FMX and just ride trials, you will be fine.
Oh and with your bike now being a foot and a half shorter you won't need to hop the bike in those tight corners. GENIUS!!!!
OK I am being a Smart ass trying to cheer ya up.
-
I am also looking forward to a great weekend of trials.
-
reading a couple of recipes on the wonderful world wide whatchacallit........Haggis sounds a bit .....ummmm
But could somebody honestly tell me how it tastes?

If it is the thermo that has gone, it is possible to take a jumper wire and connect the thermo wires together. Thus making the fan run constant. This is a quick fix, I did it to my 2000 2.9 left it that way for about half a season. Of course constantly running the fan will make it more prone to burning out the fan, but it would at least get the bike through the Rose City event this weekend...................of course if it is just the Thermo that is causing the problem.

I keep telling my wife "Chicks dig scars"
-
Copie, It Depends on the suction provided by the pump..................I got some ideas.
-
I got no speedo have no idea.
But like I tell everybody around here that asks: If you're really good they don't move at all, and your feet stay on the pegs.
Or: We go REALLY fast for about 3 ft and then stop.
Yes I am a Smart A**

Not sure how it is done in other areas of the country, but I think at the club level events there needs to be a loop specifically just for the bikes and a separate loop specifically for spectators.
The "Bike Loop" could be nice and long and winding to help reduce line backups at sections and to "test" the longevity of the riders.
The "Spectator Loop" needs to be the shortest distance between the sections, also as smooth and easily navigated as possible.
This will make it safer for the spectators and easier for them to get to the sections. I have personally experienced when having my family come to an event to see me ride that when walking down the edge of the trail and this A**hole come flying down the trail and yelled for my boys to Move It and rode directly between them without slowing a fraction. He also came within an inch of his handlebars hitting my bars. The most aggravating thing about it was the "trail" was actually a wide Moto X track and he had about 15 feet or so to the side of us to go around. This is not the only "Speeding past walkers on the Loop" that I have witnessed it is just the most personal.
If we provide a better Spectator Loop It will make it easier on the riders so they don't have to worry as much about encountering walkers on the trail. Also we may get more attendance, better exposure, and we will look like real nice people for giving an easy walk in the woods for the spectator.
We can't grow if we don't have anybody to see what we do.

WOW!!! That kid heals Quick!!!
Good to hear he does not have any breaks or major surgery to deal with.
-
This also applies to Global Warming.......................
Yep it goes up, it goes down.....But it would be nice to walk into a moto shop and say hey I need a Kickstart for (insert bike here), and Part Guru goes in back and brings said Kickstart. TADA no shipping charge and you riding later that day.
-
From what I have heard isn't it their norm to copy GasGas?
I was waiting for that one.
Even with all the ribbing (taking the p***) I like my Sherco very Much!!
-
Just an opinion of mine,
The US has historically enjoyed motor sports that are high speed or huge air or both (supercross). Trials for the most part is slow and precise. The youngsters that ride bikes like the speed and adrenaline of moto X, Enduro, etc....As the riders age (I have heard this next statement from many trials riders older than 25) they say "I am tired of big crashes, getting hurt, and rebuilding my bike every 6mos to a year. So they enter trials. When they do start riding trials these riders are having such a good time and enjoying the camaraderie of the trials community that they wish they had done it sooner.
I don't know how many riders the previous statement actually applies to but it does apply to some, maybe that is why we don't have as many youngsters as other motor sports.
As for attendance at Nationals..........I don't know, I only attended 2 rounds (same weekend) so far (had a great time, I can still hear the guy behind me waiting for our names to be called to start on Sat. He said "That guy is wearing SHORTS! HAHAHA" And watching the PROs hit HUGE splatters was definitely a treat.)
-
Doesn't really show the actual routing of the air filter and carb. A fuel pump could just be one more thing to go bad in the middle of a section. HMMMM only time, and riding will show how it performs.
-
I am right handed therefore right hand kickstart feels correct.
Would be interesting to hear from the left handed group of riders what their opinions are.
-
Swooshdave,
if ya look real close at the rider in that screen shot...........He has exactly the same traction inducing weight hanging over his belt that I've got!!
and I got something in common!
-
Yep Biff they got your crash style down perfectly!!!
I like it and hopefully they have a trials bike as one of the "unlockable" bikes.
I would like to see a trials game for the Wii. Could be awesome, hold the controls like holding handlebars, twist the Wii remote like the throttle and the B button on remote could be front brake and the Z button on chuck could be clutch.
