  1. About once a year maybe twice. It can make a difference in performance seems to perk the old beast up a little.
  2. DOH!!!!!! I too am guilty of such a thing. sssssshhhhhhhhhh don't tell my kids, I preach safety gear like a televangelist.
  3. Helmet would be good. proper safety gear no matter how good you are will give you a boost of confidence to really "give it a go" At least I notice a difference even when I am doing "easy and mundane" techniques. also agree need more downward push with your body to load up the suspension, not so much rearward motion. Think of it like a Pogo Stick. Just as you "pop" the clutch jump up. Just my thoughts
  4. Way to go Super Sherco Sam!!!!!!! You guys got more guts than me. Sam is an excellent rider......But I gotta agree with him about that Joe K. guy. Man that kid is GOOD!!! Joe is crazy and talented,

    Jokes

So would that be Playboy or Hustler? Think about it.......those of us with a juvenile sense of humor will get it right away.
  6. Thanks for the wishing of good weather. You don't have to keep the rain on that side of the pond, having it stay directly over the pond would benefit us both. Would be more fun if you were hanging out with us, but if I could get that silly webcam to work maybe we would take you up on that offer of checking!! Link to the flyer http://motatrials.org/_wsn/page3.html
  7. I knew exactly where my rear wheel was..........rapidly approaching the rear of my skull as we progressed in a gentle arc to ground on the other side of the elevated log.
  8. Kind of like me on section 1 last sunday??? I needed to get away from the bike on the way down. How can someone practice for going over the bars? You and I both did that last sunday also. Although yours were probably more spectacular. Balance, balance, balance. Tight turns, figure eights. Learn to love the clutch. "slipping" the clutch also for finding grip in less than optimum traction conditions. (mud) As silly as it may seem practice bending your knees. This will help with "preload and unloading" later in your trials fun.
  9. Jreilly, It is only a SMALL fracture that means there is room for improvement....with all that time off work just think of all the riding you could do........besides that's what a helmet is for. Take it easy, get healed up. broken bones suck. especially in the noodle.

    Help

    Yep probably it.
  11. DOH!! Forgot the 200cc. Must be because Sherco stopped making them. Hey Cope why did sherco stop making 200's?
  12. Can I convince you to come over to the Sherco side?? If not then we need to figure out how I can get a GasGas 300
  13. Depends on what you want out of the bike. All sizes 125 through 300 will handle your physical size and weight. ( I am referring to 2 strokes, don't know much about modern 4 strokes) A 125cc must rev the hell out of it and use flawless technique when riding. a 250cc has some low end grunt but needs some reving and good technique. a 270cc has more low end torque and better throttle response if you get into a spot where you need to give it a bit of a jab of gas. A 300cc has most low end torque and wicked throttle response. I would suggest a 270cc because that is what I ride and I like the way it responds. (but thinking about a GasGas 300) But a 250 should serve you well. as a side note I am 5' 9" and weigh 240 pounds. (yep got a spare tire if I get a flat on the bike) And I ride ADV class against Firstgear. If I am incorrect about the characteristics of the different bikes somebody will let me know.

    Help

    Are the floats installed properly?
  15. Well sounds expensive and a bit of a hassle. Guess you would really WANT one. So why no direct import to the US from montesa factory? And how long is this predicted to last? I am not interested in purchasing a new montesa but it is worrisome when a trials manufacturer stops importing to the US. I heard last year there was a snag in importing but thought that was supposed to be resolved shortly after hearing that. So it is still not resolved then or is it strictly a sales thing.........not enough sales to justify bringing into the US? But if you don't import to US then there will never be any sales..........seems like a Catch 22.

    Blondes

Why was the Blonde Woman's belly button bruised? Her boyfriend was blonde also
  17. What is this procedure known as "Washing the Bike"???? Sounds like work. OK I admit I wash the bike if it was a really muddy event, but usually the next day. Most often I have to get ready to go to work when I get home from an event. But if it just a bit "dusty" I'll leave it.
  18. Is this a new injury or the same back injury that was bothering Pat a little while back?
  19. Oh yes! especially on those hot summer days, just climb inside and cool off, grab that left over turkey leg and munch away.
  20. By that line of logic than your front door to your house being unlocked is an invitation for me to go inside sit in your chair, watch your telly, eat some of the food in the fridge, all without your permission.
  21. Williamd You missed the point of my post. I was using an example to put the situation into perspective for the person wanting to trespass. So I will put it bluntly. ASK FIRST!! And don't screw it up for the rest of the trials community.
  22. Look at it this way: If it was your land and somebody came through without permission and rode his MX bike through and tore it up you would be very upset. Right? Same principle different bike, It is not yours don't touch. Same thing we all tell our kids so maybe we should follow our own advice.

    Main Bearing

Here is a list of many useful repair manuals for Shercos. http://www.sherco.com/wayne_corner.html You could scroll down and look for the one for main bearings or just click this. http://www.sherco.com/wayne/Sherco%20Engin...ly%20Manual.pdf When my Brother had his 2000 250 he printed all of these manuals off in full color and put them in plastic sleeves in a 3 ring binder. He then sold the bike a few months later. I inherited the manuals, Thanks oh wonderful Brother of mine. I did a complete teardown of my 2000 2.9, If you follow the manuals and take your time, it is not that bad of a job. I would assume the principles are the same on a 99 1.25. Just make sure you have enough work bench space to lay out all the parts of the engine.

    Big Mac

Hey Cope is "Suck n Swallow" anywhere close by to Cut N Shoot?
  25. UUUMMM, actually if you want a shorter wheel base you would have to loosen the chain, by tightening the chain you move the rear wheel away from the front wheel. How many beers have you had. Hey Scorpa3, Just give it a try hopping that DRZ400, It's all the same techniques just a bit heavier, yea that's it, should be easy
