  1. You can't get all the filter oil out and the dirt with washing up liquid despite what anyone says, you need filter cleaning fluid. People think that their filters are clean but if you then clean them AGAIN with filter cleaning fluid you will see more grit and muck wash out.
  2. They will need to! the ones i was watching the other week looked woefully underpowered, having said that, the riders could have been a bit limp-wristed with the things.
  3. Fantic's 'good quality' reputation went out the window quite a few years before their final demise, the twinshocks were really good, but some of the monoshock models simply fell apart before your eyes.

    Tank Unit

What's up sparky? Dented the shiny tank i sold you? I can sell you a replica of mine for
  6. I think your being a bit critical, some of the rounds i went to last year were an absolute disgrace! Do you enjoy travelling in the van for bloody hours to go round a course to tie with loads of other people on no marks lost? What a waste of time. At least it's a bit of a challenge with a winner at the end of it all, no roadwork either, proper off road loop!

    Honda Tlr250r ?

Didn't realise they were that old! Reckon you should steer clear though.
  9. Hey you guys, make sure you get up to the Bootle classic round on your Kwackers, it's the best round of the whole series by a long way.

    Honda Tlr250r ?

Don't get confused, the monoshock TLR250R is a TRAIL bike which is actually quite recent (i.e. not from the '80's era) and has nothing to do with the TLR250F twinshock machine which we all know and love, if you tried to ride a trial on one of these R machines you probably wouldn't want to try it again the next week.
  11. You can use a pressure washer so long as you're not stupid & blow your paint off or wash out all your bearings. Also i wouldn't start the bike to dry it off as there may well be water and/or dirt in the airbox from the trial which will need cleaning out before you next run the bike.
  12. Mick is right, David Silver is the place for spares, I was very impressed with the service and price of spares from here.
  13. Are your spoke nipples all rusty in the picture?
  14. I have found using soap/washing up liquid does not work well enough to clean a filter properly, use a filter cleaning fluid to see what soap & water leaves behind in your filter, you'll be surprised. Then of course, you must use filter oil.
  15. When taking delivery of a new bike, I always used to strip it down & use copper anti sieze on all the bolts, axles etc (this was vital if you rode a Gas Gas!) This used to save so much hassle later, also you could spot potential problems like crap wiring/cable routing and loose nuts & bolts before they caused a problem, I also used to grease the linkages & any bearings i could get to, (gas gas used to assemble a lot of components dry) There is no excuse for siezed axles etc, it's only a 5 min job to grease it up!
  16. My advice is to hook up a red bull drip & flood your system with it ready for the start!
  17. Never mind Sparky, i hear some guy is entered on a '79 Sherpa!!!!! You could have taken the old TLR & had a twinshock battle!
  18. Is that not for cleaning your bra Gav?
  19. 4 PSI in the back, 6 PSI in the front, all conditions, certainly no higher than 4 though as you will start to lose grip.
  20. Speedy Working Motors actually!
  21. Don't remember that laurel & hardy movie, i think the fuel is supposed to ignite AFTER you put it in the bike.
  22. I don't think that actually applies to trials engines in practice, you can't get much more controllable power than a trials 2 stroke.
  23. Last nights chow mein microwaved & a mug of tea.
  24. Take heart. some people have their very own SWM for personal use, and can often be seen wrestling with it up to their knees in mud.
  25. Some spanish trials bikes can be disassembled simply by riding them!
