    Seat Height

You could also enter a Flat Track Race on a MX Bike, but nobody does......... I guess my point is that Trials Bikes have become too specialized. A minimum seat height would bring Trials Bikes back into the mainstream as far as ergonomics and a bike that the newbie may be attracted too, but could the Trials Community accept this as a standard?

    Seat Height

Does the seat height or lack of a seat at all have anything to do with Trials Bike Sales or the Popularity of the Sport. I was looking at my sons 2010 Sherco and my '76 Honda TL 250 and thinking. After deciding to hang up my MX Boots in 1975, I decided to give Observed Trials a try although I had never attended an event. But upon deciding to purchase a TL 250, I figured it would make a great trail bike if Observed Trials wasn't for me. I was hooked after my first event. But I am just wondering if the lack of a basic seat on newer models turns people off as current Trials Bikes look too specialized. When I watch new riders ride a modern Trials Bike for the first time, I can't get over how clumsy they look regardless of their riding ability/experience. Mostly they are standing as sitting is not much of an option if you are to have your feet on the pegs and want to shift and brake. People who are into the sport know how to live with these inconveniences, but someone who is considering a modern Trials Bike may not. After all, you need a Trials Bike to participate in the sport, but for the casual newbie who wants to have the ultimate trail bike, a Trials Bike my not be his first choice.
  4. Great job......looks showroom condition, and street legal!
  5. Using this "specific bike" mentality, would you not check perhaps the kill button first? I have had failed coils and stators, probably more stators, but I would always check the easiest items first ( kill button, coil, stator......) Sounds to me like lack of "generalization" can cause further delay.
  6. Oh....stupid me, I thought Cope was referring to himself!!!!!!!
  7. Looks like Cody finally closed the gap on Pat. The 2 stroke must agree with his style. Any overseas plans?
  8. Maybe no one made any money but Craig G. had one hell of write-off!!!!!!!
  9. Well the answer is very simple. Spends a lot of time and money, and not to mention the pain in the ass it is to travel. And after all that, gets 2 clean days!!!.......its just too easy, he's bored......he should be riding up a class but he can't. Maybe next year (or the year after that)
  10. Will somebody please serve Nigel his Crow.
  11. Oh, and please hold the "flames"........
  12. Did I not read somewhere on TC that Diego Bosis was overseeing the sections as a Rep for the FIM. Surely he has the experience to advise when sections are out of touch for anybody but the top 2.
  13. It seems to me that less severe sections makes for a more level playing field among the top riders. Compare the results and the finishing positions between Spain and Portugal. Are easier sections the answer to Bou's demise?

    New Ossa Video

And I was thinking it must be the bike!!!!!!!!
  15. When Americans compete in Europe, we are basically starting each event between about Midnight and 2 AM U.S. Time ( well into our normal sleeping time) On the contrary, Europeans when competing here in the States start each event at about 3 PM European time, which leaves them plenty of time to complete the event prior to their normal sleeping hours! Even if North American Riders arrive several days in advance of an event, this is a tough disadvantage to overcome. If you see Pat or Ryan with their eyes closed at times during a Trial, wake them up for us!!!!!

    My New Tl

You might try B & J Racing in Tenn. They have lots of info on Vintage Trials in general.

    My New Tl

Check with your local Trial Club Members about lighting kits that came with their modern trials bikes and went largely unused. My TL has a dual headlight from an early GG Trials Model. You will have to run a voltage regulator as that 6V lighting system will peak out at 16 plus volts and blow every bulb in the system....even 12V bulbs.
  18. Now that is a Classic "first Trial" story!!!!!!!

    Usa Beta Importer

I heard a rumor that we have a new Beta Importer here in the U.S..........????????
  20. What......you from Texas or something? Actually a shovel does work and it can be good for balance practice.
  21. The Greeves reminds me of the Scorpa.......Kind of Odd, and the Linkless rear suspension will hold it back in the current market. Not to mention the PRICE!!!!!
  22. Bernard won several World Rounds long before he ever made his home in Europe. Now back to the question.....
  23. Take the 2 top US Trials Riders, Pat and Cody and at their current ability with their current bikes. How many years back would we have to go (and everything else being the same in that era, bikes, riders, etc.) for them to be top 5 World Riders? Or better yet, World Champ?
  24. My sons 2010 has about 1/8 th clearance on the right side and about a hair on the left side. Looks like it touches, but it doesn't. It does turn tighter than the '09.
  25. I remember installing a Mikuni 28mm round slide on my 199 and the power was much softer and smoother than the Bing. I eventually went back to the Bing as it felt better overall. Maybe retard the timing to 2.0. After the engine is run in awhile, it might smooth out somewhat.
