  1. Go ahead weld your nuts.... there is no protective coating on the pipe. I cleaned my melted pants off with a knife and scotch brite.
  2. Just a thought here.... if the metal parts are not sticking to the magnet then the metal is aluminium. Likely, i'd say, from the clutch basket - look for indents where the clutch plates sit/slide of warn friction plate 'teeth'. Agreed .... ATF in a Beta is good. Replace it often.
  3. He's having fun. Safety.....Get him to wear some glasses, and go to a bicycle shop and look for the thinest/smallest grips available.

    2010 Xispa

Jeez Nigel..... what is it with the freek'n conspiracy theory.... it is a good - well written report. You don't have to agree with it. This is a friendly site. Try acting friendly.
  5. Beta buy these forks already built up. I'm picking that you have a pair of forks built on a Friday at 4:45..... someone has forgotten to put in all the parts. There won't be a "factory" fix. Just take them apart and have a look at things..... O-ring missing on the oil leak side, and a washer between the spring and the compression adjuster.
  6. I have the Beta Rev4T running great.....Changed the Main jet to #115, Raised the needle all the way, 3.5-4turns out on the fuel screw. I tried a richer low speed jet but returned to std as it wasn't nice. The bike is well tuned - valves are ok, iridium plug is gapped to 0.6-0.65mm, filer is properly oiled. Boy does the bike run really well...... way better than std. However it still has an occasional miss-fire or something just as the bike is coming off idle. Not every time, perhaps 1 in 4 times..... it has me stumped. Any ideas out there?
  7. As the guys above said.... you got to be able to reach the brake & clutch really comfortably when your a*** is just about to touch the rear tyre cos you are so far back. Keep them just below horizontal.
  8. The choke system may be opening up?
  9. The Beta 4T gets 11km/l so will have a range of approx 22km.
  10. I agree with the gearing.....12t on the front is too high. Try a 10 (for a novice) or 11. Yes adjust the timing. I adjusted my 07 Beta 270 a little retarded (like my riding ) and it was brilliant for taking the edge off the power. It didnt change how the bike started though. Fit an Iridium plug to make the bottom revs smooth. Chewy... is that one or two EVOs? 200cc?
  11. Hi Steve. Your fix will likely be a clark from Australia. As a thought perhaps you could try a Hope bicycle brake master cylinder
  12. Surely there is a tire lock/clamp? and you have tightened it? If there isn't... i'd get down to the bike shop and buy one. Drill the rim out to accept it (opposite the valve hole). It will stop the tire from turning.
  13. Most of the European Trials bikes (well that is all of them d'oh)are set up for a 70kg rider. Fork and shock spring adjustment can take that up to 85kg (ish). I'd agree with the other post. I would also suggest that a bikes suspension will work better for a rider if there is NO pre-load on the springs. If you are a faster aggressive rider choose the heavier spring. What do the Lewisport team suggest?
  14. Beta Rev4T workshop manual has the flywheel nut torqued at 120Nm. I'd say the 2T should be the same.
  15. Stretch it over with soap or lube. make sure it has even stretch all the way around as you settle it in to the grove. You will have to work your way around the rim tape so that it is neatly tucked into the extruded grove. The seal, i feel, is where the tape sides seal against the rim extrusion. Someone else said it....... CLEAN...... it needs to be clean.
  16. If i were you i'd be talking to the importer.... after all it is a new bike and they do have warrantees! Note it in yours, and get them to note it in their diary just in case it turns pear shaped after the warrantee runs out
  17. Hi Tony is right, it is a nice bike. It just needs setting up so that it starts easily. I think the four stroke bikes are highly likely to last many years (upwards of 800 - 1000hrs) between pistons.... see this post....... http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index....showtopic=26585 Ralphy
  18. I can track stand my fathers Honda Goldwing tourer! Straight up no BS. Some times i can do it sat down and just move my knee about for the ballance. Some times i had to stand. You get some weard looks and you feel a bit of a dork standing up on a Gwing at the traffic lights though. End of competition.

    Cv Carbs

Hey the Beta 4T bikes - both the Rev and the Evo - use a CV carb. They run brilliantly. No hiccups or coughs. I haven't had any issues with dirt in the slide/boot. The bike runs great. You have to take the top off to get to the needle and it is a little challenging to get the top to go onto the carb without causing the boot to be pinched. But it isn't super difficult and the previous suggestions are all good.
  20. it will be the speed of the fan and the pitch of the blades. You could put a diode/resister thingy in the wiring that feeds the fan but you'll be on your own re warrantee etc ...... or chose a better bike like a beta. ;o)
  21. My Beta 08 Rev4 is 3kg heavier than the 2t of the same year. It took me.... oh .... about 30minutes to stop worrying about it and enjoy the bike more than the 2t
  22. The Beta is cheeper. Lots Mot 4rt can be a bit brutal down low as.... perhaps.... lack feel The Beta has a carb which is what... perhaps.... is what makes it get great rider feel for the traction No Engine issues with the Beta 4t.... not like the 2t which had a few issues (that were well covered by importers) Tests.... http://www.r2wtrials.co.uk/html_files/beta4t.html http://www.r2wtrials.co.uk/html_files/bvmtest08.html http://www.tmxnews.co.uk/content_database/beta_evo_4t/index
  23. What he said. Oh and i guess you meant to say engine oil..... as the Rev4T does not have a separate gear oil. The 15/50 makes the gear box shifter a little heavier. But you will get used to it. The bike is designed for 15/50 so that is what i use. Fully Synthetic only!!!! .......15 hrs between changes, 800ml per change, oil filter every other change.
  24. If the pads are warn with a slight taper across the face this can happen. Swap the pads over LHS goes to RHS and vise-versa.
