  1. Brilliant handling, light weight, FANTASTIC engine, and easy to ride = Beta
  2. Springs were changed in 2011

    Cool Video

    Flippn heck that is brilliant.
  4. I have to go to work. Sigh I use Maxxim spray chain wax on the chain before each ride. Thats it. The chain is lasting fine, there is no mess, doesn't need adjusting, dirt washes off, and it lasts a trial or trail ride.
  5. At 125kg you will nee a stiffer spring at both ends. Seals are straight forward and the Sherco note is spot on. Get a seal driver - I use a piece of plastic tube - other wise the seal is likely to leak.
  6. 2003 v 2008....? Buy the 2008 it will be nicer
  7. This is a silly thread really!. All bike have their faults so you can discount the the importer type comments. Everyone here is giving you their opinion...... what you seek is YOUR opinion surely? Not everyone else's?. Suggest you go ride them both
  8. Never had a problem. Never had to bleed up hill. Never had to remove a caliper. Never had to bla bla bla. Every one thinks Betas are "special". Balls. Beta's aren't special..... it is the same system fitted to most other motor cycles! Stop the BS and learn good technique. Does it need new seals? Fit them if needed. Make sure the master cylinder has clearance between it and the push rod/leaver. Remove the cap. Then pump-hold-bleed-close-release fast. Actually quite fast. Works every time. Every time.

    Evo Suspension

I fitted one of the TRP shocks to a mates Evo. It made a huge difference and is a lovely shock - perhaps even better than a cheep Ohlins http://www.suspensionsrus.com.au/2006/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=257&Itemid=474 http://www.trpracing.be/
  10. Sweetgas. Sorry I missed the point you are in USA and have no trials shops. You really have to get out and go look or take a punt on one brand. Please don't select a bike best for hopping - you use good technique for that. Select a bike for balance and feel. Balance and feel are both subjective and you need to try a bike. You'll get a feel for the preferred bike and will build a relationship with the importer or shop which should last 20yrs. I have known guys buy a bike NEW and untested by phone and have it for sale 4hr after delivery because it is the wrong feel!!!!!!!. Be careful. If I was a beginner I'd buy a 200cc bike for the first couple of years. Oh and ALL the brands have issues in one form or another because the factories as small, and only make limited production runs. Hence select a brand by also selecting the better support in USA. Make some phone calls. Lots of phone calls. I'm stuck on Beta. Ask Chewy (on this site) - he gets a new bike (actually 2 bikes) every year and flips between brands often - for his opinion.
  11. Sorry but everyone is wrong and to be frank all will favor their "own" bike for no reason to get their bike to hop. All world class riders are world class riders because of their skill not because of the bike that they ride. Don't buy a brand of bike thinking it will make you a better rider. All new bikes will have the "wow I'm riding better" effect. Test a few brands and sizes and go to a few trials and ask the guys why they ride their own bike....(go to some shops to find a test ride) Easiest bike to hop is the one with the rebound damping turned off..... it will also get the worst traction. Get a feel for the best bike for YOU. Get to understand what importer will give best warrantee support. Get the Ryan Young Training DVD.
  12. Look ahead (not at what is just in front of you). Leave the clutch alone. Steer the bike with your feet (really!.... stop forcing the bike to go where you turn the bars) just my 2 cents.....

    Rusty Stator

Can't see anything wrong...... If the electricity is still flowing then just live with it.
  14. Remove the whole system. remove end cap and packing. wash whole system through with petrol. allow to dry overnight. repack muffler with new packing (get this from the trials/mx shop). done. run oil mix at 70;1
  15. Also sign of carbon build up on cylinder head and top of piston. It could be time for a de-coke and polish.
  16. ........ and still not believing you are doing this in the house...... !!!!!!
  17. +1 all the engine mounts and ...... + exhaust mounts and...... +frame bolts
  18. Brilliant mate. Just brilliant. you look like you are having fun. Is it dangerous if you separate from the bike...?
  19. FWIW. The 09 & 10 Evos came with a soft rear spring...........plenty of lads upgraded their rear spring to a slightly stiffer one to improve suspension performance.
  20. Hi and first up how heavy are you? I'd say change the fork oil before you buy new springs (unless you are heavier than approx 95kg) I could be wrong and the springs may be knackered but it is rare.

    Beta Evo 4T

just do the clutch mod pinned to top of the Beta forum. It fixes it. Done
  22. That is a good price. Some experts are easy on bikes and some are brutal bike wreckers..... as a few questions. The 2009 was the first year of the Evo and they had problems with the rear wheel bearings dieing because they had reduced diameter to save weight. The next year they went back to the large'ns, so expect to replace them. Check the fork leg (uppers) for rock damage. The 09 & 10 Evo came out with way too soft rear (not sure of front) springs and most guys went for a heavier spring. If it hasn't got one already, budget for a fresh heavier rear spring. There were a couple of minor first year issues with a few (only a few) frames, but the factory covered these under warrantee. Ralphy
