Its a mixed bag there. Dusty sand hills rocks and logs. It is unlike any terrain we ride on currently. Apparently we will have more rocks this year from what i have heard.
If its hot on saturday i am heading over to the rifel river state park to go swimming which is not that far away.
Bring the mopeds cause the restarunt is right around the corner!
There is also a bar/hotel/bowling alley right on the property if your board. (doubt it)
Have you seen the Nitro Circus episode where they try to ride the obsitcal course? Robbie Madisons new years ride up and down the Arc Triumph in Vegas? (I thought he should have paused and launched on his way down not just rode off. Rookie mistake! haha) These are trials manuvers. Of course they were on 110 pit bikes and motorcross bike but it is here on our tv. Bicycle trials may make it into x games before motorcycles. It just seems that much more impossible with out an engine on camera. The camera also does not give it perspective.
The other thing to consider in the x-games is the failure or pulling off a stunts in the events that they have in place already. From freestyle to skate boards to roller blade freestyle. These guys are crashing at what seems impossible to survive heights. I don't know about you but a trials crash does not seem that horrific (oops i fell down). Thats not saying that we can't get hurt doing what we do but it just wouldn't seem that impossible on camera. A race between two trials riders may be the answer but a true trials just may not cut it.
I agree I could watch it on tv and would be glued to the tube if it were on but I am the first to tell you that I am not the normal watcher.
I know that i will always be riding something over something regardless if there will be anybody out there with me.
If there is a dealer left i will buy from them.
If there are people willing to join me I will ride with them.
If some one wants to learn how I will show them all that I know.
I grew up with this sport and I won't stop trying it.
In college i couldnt afford a bike but i got a hand me down enduro rd360 that i used as my commuter bike. I would ride trials with that almost every day to school. I got it impounded once because I was riding over the rail road tracks near college.
What ever it takes I will ride. I know that there are others there like me and that is what keeps this sport alive.
There is a trials shop on Kauai as I understand it. I remember seeing these guys having pictures and stuff. Set up a dream trials resort and I am there!
I used to make trials sections with excite bike. My friends would get so ticked because all i wanted to do is come up this bank from the bottom of the screen but land on the platform. They wanted to race.....
The harder i ride it the more i break stuff but the stuff i break (levers, plastic, external stuff, ect...) is on ever bike out there and will break when i ride. My gasgas has never caused me to not finish an event. I am biased towards the brand but anything will break. What i like is that the stuff on a gasgas is relatively universal (brakes, levers, bolts). Change your oil, lube the swing arm bushings and keep an eye on the water pump seal (throught the provided window) and you will have a lot of fun on one of these.
Apparently there is a new video game coming out for the xbox. They think that a motorcross bike is the optimal machine for the job. They got my crashes and flaming death down too.... hahahahah
Logan got top ES score on Saturday and won HS by a large margin on Sunday. Way to go dude!
I think he ment that Pat is not being challenged by the US level of riding any longer but Cody has really stepped up his game so i would possibly say that we put both of them in this bag. We have the terrain here in the states. What can we do to help them get better? Money would probably be the first answer there but I think that it begins with them. We should ask Pat and Cody and Will and Ron what it takes for them to get better. Is it riding with a rider better then them? Is it section design? Is it fear? Should probably start a new post with this...
I wasn't there but apparently he had failed the section and was trying to re-ride it. He stuffed the front end into a root or a hole comming up a huge hill climb and beat the bike to the ground. The bike followed suit and hit him in the head from most accounts. Mike Komer (who was the checker) said it was one of the worst crashes he had ever seen. Will wanted to get up and walk out of the sectoin (thats good news) but the group decided against it.
On a happy note the Schuyler <sp? county medical team has been sitting at idle for the past 15 years just itching for something exciting to happen. There must have been 10 emergency vehicles plus a fire truck plus an ambulance and they even decided to fire up the helicopter which really didnt decide to land after apparently not seeing the 10 acre field. Hats off to them and their response. Will got towed out of the woods and should be in good hands by now.
I was heading up the creek watching about 30 riders comming at me so i flipped it around and we all left the woods in a mad dash for section 12. The minder loop had about a foot deep of mud in areas and 30-40 of us were fighting our way through this up the hill. Talk about getting the blood pumping! Sorry to any spectators who had to personally witness this.
On cars they are directional because of the way that the manufacture has applied the belts. Hunter (the balancing company) explains it this way. Lets say you have a wire wheel on a cup. You have been using it clock wise for several years. One day you decide to use it counter clock wise. Not good. If Michelin has decided to do this with the x11 that is very interesting. That may mean that the Michelin has a lot of tire wrap and flex in the direction of its rotation. Such as in drag racing. The more flex you have the less resistance to breaking free you have. Hmmmmm.... I don't think i am a good enough of a rider to tell but i would suggest flipping it if needed to see if you feel a difference..... On a car flipping a directional the wrong way can cause delamination. In trials if you have delamination then you have skills i will never posses.
Here is how it works. When you pull in the clutch lever number 18 is pushing a piston out and pushing on number 20, 21, and 22. Number 23 in this picture is a bearing which will allow number 13 to spin while it is being pushed out. When you release your clutch the springs (6 of them number 14) push number 13 and the clutch pack into number 6. Clear as mud? hahaha sorry.
Since number 18 (your clutch slave cylinder) is bolted right past the front sprocket we suspect that this may be damaged or leaking. There are three bolts that hold this clutch slave to the case right in front of the small engine sprocket. Remove these three allen bolts and pull this slave cylinder off. You should see a piston move when you slowly pull on the clutch lever. If you do see this piston move then look for fluid leaks. If there are no leaks and it moves in and out freely then inspect for a missing part possibly 21, or the bearing number 23.
That o ring under the sleeve has been known to do this. It gets hot and crumbled when i took mine appart to do my seals. My sleeve was very stuck to the crank shaft. I like that design. If the seal wears a groove you can just replace the sleeve rather than get a whole crank. Some one in Andora was paying attention. Go GasGas!

His dad Louie is an awesome rider as well. He used to come up to NY when i was a kid and clean every bodys clock. They are part of the Durty Dabbers up there in D6 with the likes of Manzoros <Sp? and the bunch. I remember the D6 nationals being some of the hardest terrain i had ever seen but my girth was not as bountyfull back in those days. Some day i would hope that the Pennsl-tucky crew could put on another national. Participation is the key in that department. Thoughts?

The Champ (trying to be pc here) shoot out was quite the show. It started raining about 30 mins before it started.
Ronnie had a pretty hard crash in it but he has really stepped up his game.
JimG had an awesome crash on a big rock with just a scratch. It could have turned into the first sucessfull backflip on a trials bike in a section. Completely upside down 10 feet up. AWESOME. I was supposed to be a catcher but I was in awe... im a jerk! haha
