  1. I know it's a pain but I guess the AMA has had some lawsuit problems with a child getting hurt and the other parent filing suit because they did not approve of the activity.

    Brockaway,

OH yea the book that i should have read.... DOH!

    Zippy,

Dont let the mrs know that her prior consent is required and if she wants to sue tell her to sue me. Im broke so no harm no foul there....

    Kjax,

Dont tell zippy yet but my plans have changed as of about 10 mins ago. Were riding over at Kutchey's tomorrow. Come on and hang!

  3. If you go to their website it does not look like they make this any longer but they do make an interesting looking full size electric mx bike. 25 electric horse power, Ohlins shocks and stuff. Seems like they do a lot in shop as well.

If you google them you will find this.

    www.electricmoto.com

A quote from their website "In 1997 we became Denali Cycles and brought to market the first production high-performance electric powered off-road cycle, The Moto Pro."

An interesting note is that their stock price is $0.00001 (according to the link on their website). You can buy 5000 shares for 10 cents. Take half of your paycheck and perform a hostile corporate take over.... ;)

  4. Can I ride Beginner class?

I highly doubt you can ride much above the junior class....

Bring on the SEASON!!! i am stoked.

Hey i have not been paying any attention. The release form that i had noterized, blood drawn for, sealed in a circoficus, then sent out to ama.... I have not done that yet this calander year. Do i need to get anything done before your event Sam?

  5. Your centrally located between several differnt clubs being in the nyc area.

No organization is really in the ny metro that i know of however your close to several differnet organizations.

http://members.dmcom.net/~3dtrials/ This is 3d of eastern new york but upstate from where you are at. The catskill mountains has a great event about an hour or two from you.

http://newenglandtrials.org/ These guys ride all over the new england region (new york, mass, conneticut, vermont, new hampshire) Some of the events in conneticut would not be too bad.

http://www.durtydabbers.com/ These guys ride in the district six pennsylvania area. I couldnt find their schedule but for the durtydabbers are a great bunch and will be able to help you out.

The next two places closest from these are northern virginia

    http://www.nvtr.org/ About a 5 hour drive

or western new york district 4 also about a 5 hour drive from the city.

    http://www.d4trials.50megs.com/

You might be able to find a huge following of trials bicycles in the nyc area but not much on the motorcycle end. Long island used to have a crew but land is sparce out there.

  6. Yep i can attest his sherco has grunt back! Runs and starts like a champ! We had a blast riding for a good solid 3 hours falling on our a$$es. I still think that he needs a 4 piston front caliper. We swapped bikes at one point and zippy went over an off camber log on a muddy bank and grabbed a bunch of my gasgas's front brake (which works like a champ). Went right down on his head. Very amusing.... It was too cold for any video devises unfortunately. (high 20's)

  7. Thanks for fixing kips bike guys! Now we can go riding tomorrow!!!! should be a balmy 30 degrees and possible snow. Sweeetttttt.

Little did you all know he acutally eats his cereal out of his float bowl and his diswasher is broken... :hyper:

  8. As i recall the compression release in the cota was a second hole in the head correct?

Generally these were used to reduce compression for ease of starting. Most people put a second plug in place of the release as a backup.

On my yamaha enduro bike it puts compression gasses from above the exhaust port via a small hole into the exhaust. Running down the road the only thing i got from it was lack of power at higher rpms. If you leave it open too long there is the posibility of running lean and sucking in dirt with the head plug version.

  9. Most stuff will only go back together 1 way and in a certain order. You usually find the correct order by trial and error at times.

    Couple of hints:

If it does not go easy back up and remove any other related items.

Most bolts go in 1 way for a reason so make a note of which side the bolt or allen head is on and the nut.

If in doubt of where you are going take digital photos for yourself on tear down each step of the way. (this one is the most useful)

Other than that they are a pretty simple machine in a relatively tight package.

  10. "My roommate worked very closely with borg warner with their torque on demand system. You guys have a similar system on jeep. He has a montesa which are known for their clutch drag. As it turns out chain tension and that really expensive stuff was the answer to his problems."

I am not quite sure what you are saying here, is he using the transfer case fluid? or something? And yes, we have different fluids that rely upon progressive or modulated clutches to apply power(hopefully smoothly) and I am not sure what additive packages they use. There could be a LOT of experimentation there, more than I would like!

Oops forgot to finish my point.

A lot of techs out there have played with friction modifier in their tcases to try and get awd shudders to diminish. They end up taking out clutches or causing chatters and engagement periods to be more harsh. My roommate tried a few different mixtures and ended up with no clutch plates after a while. He finished his experiment by getting a new clutch and tightening the chain using the specified oil and wala it worked like a champ.

Becareful because this might make a good day of practice a long day of walking around. There is a lot of science in those fluids. Besides i thought that sherco clutches were flawless? ;)

  11. Cope!

First; Spark.... Have you ever measured dwell off of your coil with a scope? Come on now i know where you work and some of your resume. Change plugs look at dwell. Change mixture look at dwell. Increase and decrease gap look at dwell. Get out your gap spark tester and measure. (doubt you have room for that on a sherco but its a thought) You bring up a good point here and i think you might find some answers in dwell. Tell ya what. This weekend I will grab one of our IDS's and a VMM here from fomoco and take some screen shots of what i have on my 04 gg. I am not sure if you have capability of something similar but this is interesting to know whats going on in there.

Second; friction modifiers... My roommate worked very closely with borg warner with their torque on demand system. You guys have a similar system on jeep. He has a montesa which are known for their clutch drag. As it turns out chain tension and that really expensive stuff was the answer to his problems. I use straight dexron and change it ever 8 hours or so of ride time. One night before an event i needed a quart and some turbo blue for the bike. I thought i would kill 2 birds with one stone and picked up a quart at the station. When i got home i looked at the bottle and i kid you not it stated "Almedes Oil Company" and it had no sae markings or anything. Due to my lazyness i threw her in so i wouldnt have to make two trips. Smelled like 80-90gls, was red, poured like 30 weight.... In the morning i drained it in fear of the unknown. Becarefull because the sulfer in friction modifiers (such as dana 60 70 or 80 additives) can set permanently in clutches and cause too much slip and its hard to get it out of the fibers once its set in.

I am part of the fuel injection generation so i would be real interested to hear the carb setup edition.

I am going home to shovel some beautiful michigan snow now.

  12. Thanks for a great time guys!

I discovered that I am out of shape again! DOH!

    We all had a blast.

Had to leave 84 degree tampa to come to 25 degree detroit last night but we will suffer.

Every body is jealous of the tans which is a plus.

If you have the means next year come down from the north you will not be disapointed. You can be sure that we will rave about it up here. Great challange and if its not for just the great weather you get to ride trials with a great group of people. Thanks again!

  13. Hey Bob,

Is that lions head the same lions head on the bruce peninsula?

I pass by there on my way to manitoulin when i vacation up there. Great granite!

Looks like Oshweken may be a go for me.... My girlfriend lives in buffalo and i live in detroit so i come by there usually twice a month.

  14. This type of information should be posted in the newly created "USA Trials Reviews and Previews". I don't think many people know this Regional Series exists. Some of the funds go to support our TdN team...which is great, but why such a secret?????? (just trying to make a point).

    Have fun down there!

You are correct I will see if andy or atom can move it for me.

The bikes are on their way.

    Thanks for the info guys.

  15. Thats a txt 280 2000-2004 non pro.

The pro seat is an air box and the pro rear fender is different and this wont fit.

    Great price for both however.

The graphics look 2002 to 04 ish.

  16. Snowbirds! Look at that snow, that is just sick! It was about 80f here today!

And if I had to say, someone needs to tell Biff not ot put the whole bike in the powdercoat oven! It seems kinda harsh on the rest of the plastics and gas tank! It could explode! :rotfl:;)

Man cope you set yourself up for this one.....

Its a SHERCO! Chances of explosion are high regardless of the oven being present or not....

My maita got stuck in his driveway on the way out. Its amazing how much mud and snow act the same. Good cross training.

    Jim,

Sorry we took over your post. I have been meaning to tell you. I went to lake placid to go skiing the other week and got really sick. Didnt hit any of the snow. Your vid makes me jealous. I spent major coin for nothin. My girlfriend had a good time so i had that going for me... Michigan has lots to be desired in the skiing department. Being from upstate ny I was spoiled at too early of an age.

  17. Great Job Pat!

I feel fortunate to see you riding at such a high level in such a short time.

It will be tough but we are behind you over here. I know its just craig's speculation that you will be upset about this but you royally kick a$$. Nice job.

But i still think we should have done some blue flames and a possible skull.....

Oh well i guess the gasgas muffler will be just that much cooler..... Now more so since i have that restriction gone. hahahahahah DOH!
