  1. Woah thats a pretty heavy bend!

Your correct with the routing however loosen the banjo bolt off of the master and allow the line to sit closer to the swing arm. If you dont allow it to come out towards the swing arm then the line will rub on the engine case as it is pushed too far off to the left or the center of the bike. I had mine routed like yours once and after 1 trials i rubbed through the line. Bring the banjo fitting closer to the swing arm. I will take a picture of mine when i get home. I know yours is a txt but the pro's are similar and i have a txt sitting in my garage next to it.

  2. OOOOOH - Gatlinburg, been there many times. City is the pits but the area around it is just beautiful. Now if you really want to go to a classy joint you need to hit Pigeon Forge.

    Alan

Wow what a zoo Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg was.

We made a sales lady cry and didnt buy into the time share.

I have been to vegas i have been to atlantic city but man these little towns in tennesse really take the cake.

I would go again but stay in the national park. Good times.....

  3. No i didnt get the distance award by a bit of a long shot. Acutally Jim problaby wouldnt have either. I was at 331 miles and i think that 390 or 420 took it. It was an awesome drive down route 800 from 70 to the property. About 45 mins of 25 to 20 mile per hour turns back and fourth. Fortunately i took the miata down and man was that fun!

  4. trials inc sure gets the results posted fast. Harker is a good rider and only 12 years old

Yeah i had him sweating on the second day. I was considering moving up to champ to "challenge" (i mean kill) myself and he was hopeing i would. I let him know he could beat me regardless and he did. I hope it gives him some push to keep up the good work.

  5. saturday was about 95 degrees and what felt like 100% humidity and very little breeze. I ended up comming in fourth with 1st and 3rd dominated by the zuroske crew.

On sunday it was slick from the previous nights rain. I again came in fourth with my loop scores fluctuating badly 15, 2, 15, 4. You could get sea sick with those scores. Chase Harker beat me out by 2 points. The kid is good.

Over all i took 3rd for the weekend. Great property and great trials! Lots of work was put in and they had all the terain that a trials rider would desire.

  6. I really dont even know where we are going. She had me pay for it and she has all of the info. I have the wheels and the wallet...... hahahaha well she is worth it. I get to ride as much as i want so i really cant complain. I am going to state flat out that i am just there for the cheap vacation and the smokey mountains. It should be an adventure. I believe that it is closer to nashville but i really couldnt tell ya.

  7. I couldnt find pictures but the results look pretty good.

That expert class looks a bit do or die.

Was it dry there? I hear east tennesse is super dry this summer.

The old lady and i are spending labor day weekend in tennesse getting sold a time share. (im not buying)

I am under strict orders that trials is not on the menu but little does she know that we are driving right past ttc's front door. Maybe a night in a discovered cabin some where near chatenooga will turn her around.. hahaha.

  8. I have always had a bit of slack there with my gasgas sprockets. Generally as long as the new sprocket slides over the shaft without getting hung up on the splines then there is usually not too much worry. I have worn out several sprockets but have never damaged a shaft as of yet.

  9. SAM!

I had this same thing happen to my sisters mower. A nut fell off the air box and got stuck in the valve seat which stuck the valve open. Pull the head. Gaskets are pretty easy to come by but i reused hers and as for what i can tell its still running. The valve seat with chewed up a bit but it still runs.

  10. Neat photos Biff,

You can see the difference in styles, finger on the clutch lever. I do the same on my B40, but know that it just doesn't look right. Can't help it. Probably why the plates had started to slip, never used to use the clutch too much in the older times I reckon. On your Dad's photo, it looks like the rocks have knocked his left foot off the peg! Bikes are looking good. A friend used to have an Anglian in the early 70's when we were riding Bultaco's and Ossas, I always thought they felt real heavy and lacked a bit of zip when compared to the Spanish bikes.

    Ta ta, PeterB.

My dad went to these because they are still relatively light and not as popular as the cub... Kinda that rare thing going on. Yeah i can clutch and flip turn the greeves which doesnt look right but it gets the cheers with the crowd. Again they turn sharp but do feel a bit more front heavy. That Villiers has such a long stroke that it does not seem as zippy your correct.

  11. Ok so I was reading the owners manual for my 9.9 yamaha outboard and they suggested using Yamaha Brand Ring Free. Apparently i cleans up the ring grooves of 2 strokes very nicely. 2 strokes as most of you know carbon up pretty easily and since they run at low speeds in the ring groove. Have any of you in the trials world used anything like this?

It seems to shock the system but is their a price fo using outside of a marine enviroment? Hmmmm

    http://www.pws9.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc...ACC-RNGFR-12-00

And its expensive too.... But if its less evasive then pulling off a jug and giving it a new set of rings it might be a thought.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. The bikes are acutally my fathers. He has four greeves and two of them are anglians.

All of his four are earls leading link suspension. Honestly I ride mostly modern trials but the leading link is not that bad. The greeves seems to work well with the geometry of it. Here is a couple of pictures of me at mid ohio this year.

    Ignore the dab.... hahahahaha.

My dad is 75 years young and any opprotunity i have to ride with him no matter what bike it is i take.

Here he is at mid ohio as well. He rides all of the ahrma's he can. I only ride a few.

  13. friends are few and far between these days!

hahahaha keep talking up those sherco's and you might loose more friends. Now have a real conversation about gasgas and people come in droves to hear about the marvles... hahahahhaha i needed that jab. <_<

I agree he shouldnt have problems as long as he does it as a team thing. I may need parts. I am feeling pretty perky this week so chances are i will break something.

  14. Scroll down to timing on this website.

    http://www.tanygraig.f9.co.uk/John/vil2strokes.htm

The points on my fathers had continuity when they were open. This caused intermitent spark issues and low secondary voltage. We still had spark but it was weak and intermitent.

The other thing i had happen on an anglian in an event about a month ago was that the head nuts were loose and i had compression when cold but none when hot. Its silly but just a thought. Check the head bolt torque.

If it is good verify that the piston has not burnt out on the exhaust port. Piston port engines have been known to do that especially when running lean. There is no head gasket on most villiers engines so it is a simple pull and look thing.

  15. Hmmm they claim a 2 year warranty? Is that in chineese years?

I have seen several of the chineese knock offs with non roller bearing lower and upper ends. It sounds silly but i would be interested to know if they use real bearings. (needle) Thanks in advance.

China is growing very quickly as seen from an employee of one of the not so big three's. They will be full force in american auto market within 2 years.

If that engine is cheap alone it might make a good base for a home built bike....... great thats all i need. Another project...

  16. Brad and Gray are out of it from what we have seen. Brad has thrown out his shoulder doing (what else) motor cross (um i mean jogging? :D ) and Gray is all company man now and is putting time in on work.

Funny Border crossing story. I go to ny to buy my audi back in 2002. I decide to leave syracuse at 2 am. got into canada at about 5. Got to the border at about 11 trying to come back into detroit. I only had my licence with me. Well when i got to the border patrol the lady was asking me about pass port or birth cert. I had neither... She said that i was probably a threat to the us and started badgering me. She would ask questions but not listen for answers. So she said she would let me in the country if i answered one question. Who is the 16th president of the US? Heck if i knew. I have limited amount US history knowledge and can tell you anything you want to know about a car or a trials bike. So after 45 mins of being reamed out i asked her what kind of car she drove. She said an SUV. I said Well i suggest you start walking to work so you can loose a few pounds. oooooo Big mistake. Very un biff like.

They escorted me to the tear down lane. They put me in a little room and made me take my clothes off except for my undies. We reviewed the tape of the conversation in my skivy's... Fyi they record the conversations. They punnished me verbally and did a back ground check. Thank god they didnt try to search me any further. Well after an hour they gave me my clothes back. After another hour they brought me to my new car which had inner door panels off, Seats out, Valve covers off, Instrument cluster out, Steering wheel off. They wouldnt let me borrow tools and there was no one to call because i was on international property. Crud. I begged for an allen wrench to put my valve covers on threw the seat in the drivers side unbolted. Threw all of the parts in the back of the car pushed the steering wheel on with no bolt and drove back to kalamazoo that way...... Lesson learned. Yes and no answers gets you in and out. :D

  17. Naw they dont want the premier light weights (ie brit bikes older than 1970) on the 1 line. The cub batnam james coton greeves other bsa's as well. I think that the bike can do it. I know i can do it. I think that they should have a champ class premier on teh 1 line. I also ride a ty 175 on the one line and the honda that i am building should be 1 line capable. I think that a Mar, suzuki rtl, or the ty 175 are the hot ticket for the 1 line but thats another topic.

    --Biff

  18. Next year i might be taking the ole greeves on the 1 line. It can do it. I can do it. I think it would be a trip but Dad gets all worried about scratches and stuff.
