    M199 Forks

Need new fork springs - current springs are do not know type (one is slightly longer, and have a valve spring squished in as well) They also top out at full extension. Being only 63kg (about 8 and a bit stone) should i go with the sherpa or the pursang springs. And also can anyone comment on non-leading axle pursang fork bottoms or fitting Alpina triple clamps please?

    Clutch M199

I know trying to diagnose clutch problems through a forum is difficult - but what the hey! My M199 clutch is noice and light (well compared to other bulls i have owned), but it is a problem in tight turns. When i let the clutch go, it eases out slowly to a point, then lets go in one hit at the end. This usually happens with the front wheel on lock, which in soft/loose terrain is off setting. (i hope that all makes sense?) thanks
  3. Sounds wierd - but the more synthetic the leaner the mix. I have been running 98 octane with fully synthetic oil (Motorex) @ 50:1 for twelve months now and not a problem. no spuge in muffler and not dry either. and smeels better too - (not sure where the needle clip is though) i use the same fuel for both the sherpa and the Gas Gas EC300 Also i use Castrol MTX for the clutch and find it's great.

    Shock Length

Thanks for the offer David - i have just lashed out on a pair of YSS's @ 355mm Touch wood thier as good as some are saying. just wasn't comfortable with all the leaking Falcon stories. Wanted to get a pair of NJB's from the US, (good value at present) but after 3 emails - still no replies.

    Shock Length

Thanks for all your replies So the stories of leaky Falcons is not as bad as it sounds? No Betors here (Aus) at present and they are not the cheap ones. Hey Woody - whats with the different length fork springs please - mine are like that (approx 15mm dif), and i was just about to replace them because i thought one had crapped out. Does anyone know the correct length of fork springs also please?

    Shock Length

Just wondering what the preferred shock length for a M199 is please? I currently have 340mm and i am looking at new Hagon shocks (1 - cost $150 cheaper than Falcons and 2 - the guy that did my suspension on my EC300 gasser says they are good value) The hagons only come in 340 or 370mm centres. Is 370mm to tall and would it make the front too quick? thanks
  7. Thanks for your input. I will go to a lower grade oil @ 180cc first. I have the top nuts with valves fitted - i thought this was only to let built up air out - is this correct, or is there another purpose please?
  8. Just wondering what gearbox oil people are using these days. I would like to try synth equivilant 10W/30 or /40 as i use in my gas gas - can anybody comment please? I will stay with ATF in the clutch though. Also i have just rebuilt my M199 forks (just two new o-rings and made up new piston seals)what a difference. the forks are now the best i have ever had on a Taco but feel a bit firm for my light weight. I have always gone by the what is the norm (180cc - SAE 20/25) can anybody comment on a lighter oil or more airspace before a go to the effort of changing it. thanks
