I used diesel as someone suggested and it worked brilliantly, far better than I expected!! All the crap was left at the bottom of the tub and my chain looked great and had all the grime off it.
Thanks again,
Lloyd
ps. I use chain wax.

And I forgot to mention its only been used for a year, it was bought second hand but New last year.

Its because I have carbon lookalike plastic on the swingarm, and the side where the rubbing of the boots are. But my exaust hasn't got and major scratches at all, and I haven't had the carbon stuff on there. I think I'd rather dive under my bike than it be damaged.... We have a special bond

Yea, somewhere under the grime, there will almost definetly be a split link.
Look harder

Bloody hell, by the sounds of it that could have been at lot worse. You must have been like a pitcrew gettin the wheel off etc...

Thanks Steveo I'm glad someone believes me.....

It's not Brand New it's just I have cleaned every single piece well, The rason why the side of the frame doesn't look worn is becuase I had carbon fibre cut outs but they were really scruffy so I took them off. It really is my bike now, I have bought some carbon sorta plastic and put on the swingarm etc... I'm just gonna cry when it all gets mucky again.

I put all the nuts and bolts in a tray and spray degreaser in there, leave that for about 20 minutes and then take out and blow with airline, spray WD40 on them all, then scrub with toothbrush, then wipe with rag after that blow with airline. For all the larger bits I spray a liberal amount of WD40 then scrub with toothbrush, then blow with airline. After everything is clean spray WD40 thinly across the bike and wipe with a clean rag to make it shine.

I hope Cabastany does well, he deserves it and has been very focussed so far and like you say it's nice to have a bit of a mix going on, it makes it far more interesting and gets you on the edge of the seat!!

Hi again everyone,
The bike is back together completely, and it went really smoothly, no problems just a few new Nuts n Bolts,Brake pads and the usual stuff that needs replacing after a year or so. Thanks very much for your help everyone I would have been a bit lost otherwise!!
Thanks again,

I need to know how to clean my chain up properly, I have taken it off ready to do but it has grit and chain lube all over it, as to be expected really... I have tried scrubbing with degreaser, WD40 and a toothbrush with no avail. Is there a special trick to it?
Thanks in advance,
Lloyd

I'm very interested and will probably be selling my Beta to get one of these, I prefer 125's to my 250 and this one sounds really good for what I need.

Yep Charlie I know exactly what you mean and when I carry on with the bike tommorow night I will do what you said...........Finding the happy medium between play and stiffness. Thanks to you too Bob, looks good to me, I'll get the right size nipple and get it in, and I like the the idea of pushing out the moisture.
Thanks again everyone,
Lloyd

Cheers Lukass, I have done it tonight.... It is slightly stiff though, well when I say stiff it doesn't turn by its self, it needs a little bit of force to swing from side to side, is this OK? Or have I done something wrong, I backed off the nut as you said and it didn't seem to make any difference?
Thanks again for the pic,
Lloyd

I started the rebuild today and I felt it went very well. I have taken everything out, cleaned it and replaced some of it. I have got the engine and the rear end back on, so only the radiator and the front end to do The only thing is that I am slightly unsure of is the arrangmet of the headstock, if someone could post a picture of their headstock part, the top and the bottom that would help me out loads, and I would know that I'm putting it back right .The headstock bearings were good apart from quite a bit of moisture, so I am gonna get the mod done with the grease nipple so it pushes out any moisture in there. So apart from me being a little confused with the headstock part its gone far smoother than I expected... The swingarm bearings were in great condition and so I just gave them a clean up with WD40 and a blast of air then carefully greased them and put them back in, the shock bushes were good too, the engine just had a bits where the jet washer couldn't get to so just needed a little clean up, and the carb has been cleaned in and out, jets and all The front and rear wheel bearings were shot due to jet washing, they were starting to corrode and rust, so new ones went in. Brake pads are a bit worn so they will be replace after its completely back together. I found it really helpful putting a dab of grease on every nut or screw that went in, they went in far easier and should keep out moisture.
Just an update so far.....

First of all welcome to Trials, I'm sure it will improve your enduro skills cus of the control you have to have to control a trials machine. About your gearbox and premix oil... I use both IPONE BOX 2 SYNTHESIS gear box oil and IPONE 2 Stroke engine oil. I have never had any problems with either, especially the gear box oil, it is very good for trials bikes.
Good luck,

I brush the bike down with washing up liquid getting in all the little places, then pressure wash it. Then I blast the whole bike with air, getting into all the bearings discs etc. Check the filters clean, clean the rims and spokes with WD40, clean the discs with brake cleaner. Have a ride around the on the drive and stick it in the garage
