  1. I have an 02 pro 280. Had the shifter return spring break and the kickstart return spring break and a spring on the shifter drum break. Some people have no issues while others have all of them. I wouldn't trade my 02 for anything. I love it. An amazing bike! By far more potent then the 300.
  2. You have no idea how jealous I am. Congrats on gettin such a sweet bike!
  3. i partly agree with lineaway. its gonna be the kickstart spring that broke but chances are you may not have to replace idler gear. i had a similar thing happen on my pro model gasser. idler was fine, just lots of spring pieces everywhere. its got the scars to prove it.
  4. i ride a 2002 280 pro. its a handful if your not on top of it. i rode a 2009 300 pro and its a much mellower bike. my 280 seems to always have traction and for that i respect it. IMHO, if you ride a 280, easy on the throttle and respect it. compared to the 300 is much sharper, quicker, dangerous, and more fun!

    clutch draging

when i first put my bike ( 2002 280 pro ) in to gear for the first time after starting it i hold the rear bake it seems to work fine for me. i was told to do thing by a couple sactoPITS members when i used to ride with them. give this a shot!
  6. Apparently I had the shift drum in the wrong position. Played with it for a while and found neutral ( the little n on the drum should have been a hint ) and it went together nicely! Still got a ways to go. Thanks for the pointers!
  7. I have that done. That unfortunately isn't the issue. The halve kind of rocks as if it is something near the middle. I'm thinking it's one of the gear shafts. The shifter and the drive shaft are through.
  8. im trying to put the case halves together on my 2002 pro 280. it has about 1/4, maybe less, an inch to go. it seems hung up on something. am i doing something wrong? any tips for putting the halves together?
  9. OK. i think ill try it. there are no GG dealers with in 75 or so miles. ill probably crack open the case later this week when im back home from college.
  10. apparently it failed. ive seen mary poppins only a few times but i rewound the singing and dancing penguins part hundreds.
  11. i had the shifter return spring break, and a couple other things that needed to be done, and now that the new spring is in the bike is stuck in first. i went to check and see how badly out of adjustment it was and it went in to first and now wont come out of first. am i looking at a problem in the gear box?

i rode one of webcyclery's A3s. great riding bike. almost bought the ZM1 too but i dont believe it has skid plate mounts. my old bike (my first bike) was a monty 221 canas replica in green.
  13. i see a bit of that in my mom and dad.

lol. that seems the be what my new bike is doing but it hasent even been broken in yet. my old bike, never need to be touched unless i punctured a tube, which makes it easier to pull off the wheel with out fighting with the maggies. what kid of bike do you have?

    09 Problems

i have an 2002 280 pro and the only problem ive had with the kickstarter is a broken spring which was supposedly fixed in the 2003 and later bikes. my bike almost always starts 1st kick, usually needing less then a full kick. ive ridden a few 300s and have been able to start first or second kick while the owner of the bikes seems to have issues with starting it. im by no means a big person, being 5'8" or so and tipping the scales at around 120 pounds.
  16. yes, if i return it to center it will still shift fine.

ditto. im hooked now and i just built a new bike.
  18. my shifter will not return to the neutral position on my 2002 GG 280 Pro. is this another one of those spring issues that were fixed in the 2003 and later bikes? or something else? is this easy to repair? -Redneck.
  19. lol. i just dont think the troopers in my state will agree with that much. maybe i should now drive 70-75MPH in the 55 zones when i normally do 65-70MPH.
  20. i wonder if they could get one of those in my nissan pickup. i wants one,.......... no two.

lol. and vice versa. i wish i could get to TTC. too far for me to go.
  23. no, i do not know where that is. im in La Pine, near Bend. we are probably on other sides of oregon.
  24. hehe. i giggled a bit at that one.
  25. probably would but for that price you can most likely get something with hydraulic rim brakes. check out what is in the FS/WTB section at observedtrials.net. FS/WTB section linky im my minimal experience, v-brakes are not very strong. i prefer the maguras or disk brakes. it really all depends on what you want to do on it. the guys at OTN are gurus compared to me. id post there for better suggestions, and some of them can be jerks so just ignore those. by the way, i just noticed your in oregon too. where abouts are you in oregon?
