tell the T&EC not me! (i've got nothing/ectrmely little to do with them)
-
IMHO anyone who is not a youth and of normal weight will be happy on any machine above 125cc, its nothing like other motorclylce sports where the jumps between 250 and 450/500cc is huge. a 300 won't tear your arms off and kill you like a good old 500cc 2T MX bike!
-
you got a better source of coperate clothing ?
-
putting my MX hat on
as i udnerstand it, Tom Fuller did the GB teams helmets for this year's MXDN
i did know we were meant to be observing a colour rule but i'm not involved in the MXDN effort
as for painting helemts, a lot of MX lads have them done, and i presume that they all know what they are doing. liabilty is definately not the ACU's, organisers/pormoters, etc its down to the rider who got the helmt sprayed, and thus probalby the helmet sprayer.

i'm being somewhat sarcastic, but most of surrey is dominated by stockbrokers, and field full of horses - that the fact of life living that close to london. sure there are real farms but surrey is the richest/well off county in the country. i don't by any means to belittle the plight of farmers, but the surrey set are somewhat diffrent than the sweeping generalisation as portrayed in this week's TMX's letters page.
BTW i'm prehaps the ultimate news junkie out there
-
the "Red Tape" is the CMSA run trial in the south eastern centre (IIRC classes for novices, tiwnshoicks, pre67, etc) - could be championship for some of them classes.
-
spud - are you ridding the witley LDT?
-
the ACU line is (per TMX) its down to the club who will make a decicon in conulations with their landowners, etc
Thames at Hook Woods didn't "get away with it", as such, they were following the ACU line, the land belongs to the CofC (Jim Connor) and really what farms are there in surrey (its stockbrocker belt, full of horse stables)

GB idn't do bad for a 5th, lot of injuries all around going into the event spoiled it for most teams but the US put on a cracking show - well done.

a) now your thinking the rights diea
you mention get a few animals, i keep thinking we're misisng out on a fortune's worht of fram subsides - we've 36 acres (hopefully another 17 soon), at least half is grass - so a few sheep must get us some euro cash (to spend on importing more rocks!)....
-

-
go ahve some fun looking thorugh http://www.secret-bases.co.uk/ lots of google earth / etc finds of things that don't exist
-
That was the original idea of the ISDT (now ISDE) but it evolved into a time trial as opposed to an observation trial.
Why didn't it work as an observation trial then ?
well it was meant to be (as i understand it), a bit of everyhting. so not only tough offorad terrrian (the trails side), but the tiem 9this was before enduros), but also road going, and they tradtioanlly have an MX type thing thrown in.
it really got to be an enduro event (and the rest of the world dosen't really do trials like they do enduro...)
-
there was a maico and CCM flying round the british Grand prix with the vets and senior classes. nothing like seeing a 490 maico taking all those jumps!

I'm trying desperately not to say too much
a) yes if you've been on the course you should know the rules, if you write the rules you should also know them and if you say might forget, etc one would hope you would look them up
I'm not really sure if you (ie joe public or the ACU members or even just as CofCs) are meant to decide who was right/wrong. the court of enquiry investigates the events (sort of like European investigating judges i think) and action follows from there. be glad you got a press release in TMX, as it doesn't normally either a) get out get any publicity
the problem is, what this thread started off about and you rightly highlight, is how does it affect the normal CofC out there, and in my slightly cynical take on it, the court was thinking about that / the press release wasn't thinking about that

south of the river (don't know the other side very well) out in Kent, Sussex and Surrey tehre aren't really any "practice" ground like they have in say MX. on the other hand there are at lest one (if not more) events every weekend (see http://www.southeasttrialscombine.org.uk/ ). look out for wobbler trials or pre65 events with a mdoern novice class to get pracitce. some clubs (like owls, bexlyheath, etc) run a club series of really low key trials - having ridden a few wobbler events by OWLS that are run alongside their club events they are perfect for anyone getting into trials. jsut go out there and give it a go!
-
yup won the aussie 4 day, blitzed the last round of the GNCC (won by 10 minutes IIRC) - knighter is god ???
