Gordon said it all, Whatever or however an individual observer scores he has to be consistant, give a Lampkin/Colley/Jarvis etc a clean even though they blatantly hopped, skipped jumped their way to the end cards then give the Big foots/ Boofonts/ Kinells of the world a clean for a wee stationary moment. I've always preferred the other approach they stop, its a five plain and simple. Between the ages of 12 and 16 I thought my name had been changed to B******........... and that was just my dad!!! dy

Need some advice boys, Stripped the engine down in my tlr last week and then spent a couple of hours crying. Main engine seals, valves, piston, you name it, it's knackered, I'm not chuffed. Main thing it needs is the piston replaced and a rebore. Someone has said in the past that the barrel can't be rebored or honed to take out imperfections, is this true? the barrel is not too bad to my eye, Ive seen a lot worse. The piston had worn itself to about 10thou too small so it's been slapping around all over the place, half inclined to say it were too small in the first place!!! Big end okay, main bearings in good nick as well So: Can the barrel be bored or honed? What oversize pistons do Honda do for the TLR ? Is Appleyards the only place to get the bits and pieces? At the moment the plan is to get hold of a new piston to match the bore of the barrel, will this cause any other problems. Any advice welcome. Thanks donald

Let me call it Kentallen, please ........ Agree it's very sad to lose this ground but as has always happenned with the Scottish something else crops up that proves bigger and better, remember when the committee lost Achlain Farm, the Tuesday big group but found Creag Lundie, Ceannacroc, Meall Dham instead. Hope the new stuff at Kinlochleven proves as popular in the years to come as Kentallen has over the last 20 - 25 years. Who knows some trials riding nut might win the lottery and buy Lagnaha.......wish it could be me!! dy

  12. Big John, thanks for the PM's on the book, Haven't spoken to his nibs yet but I'll let him know when it's out, I know he's desperate to see a copy. Old pics of him are practically non existant, saw a few that Archie Bell had but nothing since then dy
  13. Didn't mean to hit the post there, my dad got hold of the 320 Hiro engined CAN-AM that Kurt Comer road in the Scottish in 1981 or 82 ( i think), direct from the factory through a dealer in Kilmarnock at the time. He rode number 222 that year cos one the plates is still in my dad's garage at home. Comer retired from the Scottish after jamming the bike in third or fourth gear. Don't know if it's the same one, would doubt it but you never know dy
  14. Yeah, it looks like my dad's old bike!!!!!! dy
  15. Thanks bigfoot dy
  16. It's not just bikes, every single so called minority sport has as much chance of ANY funding as I have of winning the Scottish. I asked recently for some money to take the NATIONAL Under 16 Ice Hockey Team to play at an international tournament in Sweden at Easter and to build our national program. We have a five year development plan, we have support from every rink owner in the country but we can't get a penny in fiscal support from the National sports council. Unless you play Kissball, sorry football, Rugby or Golf then you don't have a snowballs chance in hell of getting anything. It's not just bikes dy
  17. Bigfoot, Can't help with much on the history stuff that quick cos it's all at my dad's but what I do want to know is where can I get hold of Big John's book in the North East, any ideas.......( supossed to be a pic of my old man in it) dy

If not the Monty banger what about the fabled Sherco in the hands of Grimbo, suspect that is a stronger option.......... dy
  21. In your best Swiss Tony Voice now boys.......... Starting a bike is like making love to a beautiful woman, you fire her up then gently let her warm to the situation. Gently increase the intensity for a few minutes to let you thrash away like ........... (Sorry boys the rest is up to your own dirty minds..Mrs Slapshot) she always spoils the best bits.... dy
  22. Watcha M4RT, Though you'd LEFT us forever, obviously this poll has mind blowing potential for someone?? so I'll get the ball rolling, me's a Rightie. ( is this some cunning plan to make us buy more gear from Alan Wright(ie)......) dy

Booma, I think gorgeous kinda sums it up really........... dy
  24. Tank unit looks very like the one on the old Hiro engined Armstrongs not the newer Rotax ones they had a much deeper swoop at the seat Certainly vaguely similar to the one my old man had dy
  25. Regarding Doug's attitude... Think we've all had a bad day at the office, the boss (mr honda/montesa) pushing us into a task we knew we didn't have the right tools to dothe job to the best of our relevant abilities. On top of that he has 8000 screaming "feet up freaks" who would consecrate the very ground his wheels turn on expecting, hanging on every roll of the Michelins to see him to the top of the podium........ I might be a bit Pi$$ed off too...... Think we might let him have that one, don't you dy
