  1. Didn't mean to hit the post there, my dad got hold of the 320 Hiro engined CAN-AM that Kurt Comer road in the Scottish in 1981 or 82 ( i think), direct from the factory through a dealer in Kilmarnock at the time. He rode number 222 that year cos one the plates is still in my dad's garage at home. Comer retired from the Scottish after jamming the bike in third or fourth gear. Don't know if it's the same one, would doubt it but you never know dy
  2. Yeah, it looks like my dad's old bike!!!!!! dy
  3. It's not just bikes, every single so called minority sport has as much chance of ANY funding as I have of winning the Scottish. I asked recently for some money to take the NATIONAL Under 16 Ice Hockey Team to play at an international tournament in Sweden at Easter and to build our national program. We have a five year development plan, we have support from every rink owner in the country but we can't get a penny in fiscal support from the National sports council. Unless you play Kissball, sorry football, Rugby or Golf then you don't have a snowballs chance in hell of getting anything. It's not just bikes dy
  4. Bigfoot, Can't help with much on the history stuff that quick cos it's all at my dad's but what I do want to know is where can I get hold of Big John's book in the North East, any ideas.......( supossed to be a pic of my old man in it) dy
  5. If you've any spare I could do with a set....haven't seen any on ebay recently dy

    4rt To Win?

If not the Monty banger what about the fabled Sherco in the hands of Grimbo, suspect that is a stronger option.......... dy
  8. In your best Swiss Tony Voice now boys.......... Starting a bike is like making love to a beautiful woman, you fire her up then gently let her warm to the situation. Gently increase the intensity for a few minutes to let you thrash away like ........... (Sorry boys the rest is up to your own dirty minds..Mrs Slapshot) she always spoils the best bits.... dy
  9. Watcha M4RT, Though you'd LEFT us forever, obviously this poll has mind blowing potential for someone?? so I'll get the ball rolling, me's a Rightie. ( is this some cunning plan to make us buy more gear from Alan Wright(ie)......) dy

    Tlr 250 Pics

Booma, I think gorgeous kinda sums it up really........... dy
  11. Tank unit looks very like the one on the old Hiro engined Armstrongs not the newer Rotax ones they had a much deeper swoop at the seat Certainly vaguely similar to the one my old man had dy
  12. Regarding Doug's attitude... Think we've all had a bad day at the office, the boss (mr honda/montesa) pushing us into a task we knew we didn't have the right tools to dothe job to the best of our relevant abilities. On top of that he has 8000 screaming "feet up freaks" who would consecrate the very ground his wheels turn on expecting, hanging on every roll of the Michelins to see him to the top of the podium........ I might be a bit Pi$$ed off too...... Think we might let him have that one, don't you dy
  13. Agreed, Well done TC, better coverage than we'll get anywhere else. Thanks guys dy
  14. Any idea why this site was so dammned difficult to log onto earlier on. It was a nightmare for ages dy
  15. Short time on here but a lot of fun, bye Mr M4RT, you might be missed dy PS au revoir mes ami.........................
  16. Watcha All, reading everything thats been written I can only suggest that the individual styling himself as M4RT can only be God himself. Now ask yourself a searching question do you believe in God. If so then we assume that M4RT exists and has taken a persona similar to that of the messiah on earth. If not maybe he'll go away......... However, M4RT looks suspiciously like a well know shortening of the name Martin................ dy

  18. Hi G4321, I'd love a copy of that TLR 250 Manual Been hunting all over the place for one. send it to dy3.northstars@btinternet.com please What a star Regards dy
  19. Hi, Hope you all had a merry christmas...some of us have been working!!! Thought I'd chip in my tuppence worth. In all the years I have ridden bikes back to riding my old mans 325 bulto into a fence(!!!) the TLR is the best thing I have ever ridden. I have never noticed snatchy power at low revs on mine or a light twitchy front end, power just rolls on nicely and off when you want it too. Gearing seems okay for whatever I want it to do. It may have some mods but I don't know what, got it from my old man but he doesn't know of any either. The biggest thing I found as a negative, was as someone else has said, a tendency to stall at very low revs, tick over up quarter of a turn solved that. I've never ridden anything that can grip as well in any conditions, deep muck, slimy rocks everything. It's got enough grunt the way it is to cope with my dynamically challenged frame (fat!)... As to some of the comments on price, it is immaterial whether the prices are extremely high or stupidly low, if some one is willing to pay that price then why argue. Market forces will always dictate but no-ones getting mine even after the missus saw what they were selling for! My only wish with the TLR is that the rider, me, was better and could do it more justice... dy
  20. I love my TLR 250,soft, pliable bit of oomph when needed. I does everything I need from a bike. Only issue I have is the prices of some spares and as said already, some are getting a little bit rare. My engine is about to get stripped to see if I can solve the smoking, hopefully simple like a jammed piston ring which is salvagable other wise it's about
  21. so JRSunt we get the impression that you like it !! It's good that we are getting the first impressions of a stronger rider at this stage maybe if we can get impressions across the whole scale of rider we'll get a real guide to the strengths of the bike. For the completely crap riders view - Mum can I have a new Mont for chrimbo...........................
  22. Please let me know as well, I have a dose of Honda Wheel Rot and will need a new back shortly......busy winter coming up engine rebuild and a new wheel. (note don't let wife read this..... ..) dy

Wallace, Is this an open area for practice or private and personal. I'm desperate to find somewhere decent and not overly far from home. Last time I had a day out was in Ayrshire, not good when you live in Stonehaven!!!! dy
