have to take my hat off to Gas Gas, they have approached the 4 stroke thing from a completely different angle to everyone else. Side valve engine, allegedly high capacity (bigger than a Sherco) and EFI. Be interesting to see how it pans out for them, don't fancy one I have to say but applaude them for having the guts to try something different
-
Jeez no, go for it on the Beta....any volunteers to drive the tanker full of 2t premix....Gizza??
-
It's a bit bland, have to agree but let's be honest guys, wouldn't you love to have done it?? Know i would
-
Exhaust port looks interesting......
going to move this into the Gas Gas forum
-
Ball of the foot all the time, if you look at the pro's that's where the pedals are set up and where you get the best cadence dynamics on the road. Even on your bike trials jobs the ball has to be better in terms of leverage and stability
-
*&%king typical, I go and type that and what happens today, carb starts pi$$ing fuel everywhere. Time for a strip down anyway be lucky of I get out much before Feb so I'll get a few bits and piece done....Fixing the *&%$

Big handful 200 or a 250 max

Yea and I will be happy to make the arrangements just as soon as we have proper Ceriani stickers on new Shercos, big snot!
I prefer Lil' Snot Sr but I guess "Big Snot" was close enough. I think that Andy apologizing to Lane is a lot more important than that other thing you mentioned.
Lil' Snot
P.S. What are Cerianis?
You're right, apologising to Lane is hugely important, if he does apologise a hell of a lot of people will think a hell of a lot less of Andy Grieg. Anyway we are pretty safe, I'll be doing one on one drills with the devil before there is any way Andy will let him back. Integrity is a great thing, some people have it... Lane doesn't!
I have one great piece of news about Lane though - HE IS STILL BANNED!!!!
PS, Cerianis - the original Telescopic forks

Boyesen Reeds, 27.5/145 jets mixture screw 1.75 turns out, couple of minutes warming up gently and as they say robert is your fathers brother!!! everything a lovely sandy brown colour and It don't leak fuel either...sorted
-
bet more folk are thinking the same
-
Fully agree, nice one kid.
As to why the Italians can run two big teams - easy money, they can get it and unless somebody in the UK has that kind of foldy stuff to throw around we might always be in the dark ages. Thank god the talent comes from these shores
-
Give me a day or two and i'll do it, save expanding permissions and that sort of stuff, save you a bit of work
-
Slapshot, if your goiing to stop the puck with your head, please wear your helmet.
Ish, I employ goalies for that however...helmet always ready for action
-
Ah right , I will investigate this a bit further then, also I have a timing strobe gun so am I correct in thinking that If I take out the small flat headed screwdriver nut on the flywheel side of the bike I can see if the timing marks are lining up at high and low revs .....?
In theory yeah though I never needed to go that far. Once I had the valve cam sprocket sorted it automaticall lined everything up. Use whatever method you can that was how I got round it. Could be other things as well but that rang a bell with me
-
this is a good thread because I have a dog that's running like a Honda.......
honda_tlr, what to have a look at is your Valve timing, after I rebuilt mine a couple of years ago before i swapped it and what not, as i built the revs up it got quite noisy, rattley and rough as sin. Tried everything in terms of carburation, cleaning it again changing jets etc etc etc i the end on a tip from someone else I looked at the valve timing.
When I had attached the new timing chain to the cam sprocket it slipped about two teeth from the marking basically to do with rebolting the sprocket in place. In the end after I set it up allowing for the slippage it ran a treat, clean and smooth from the bottom and revved out nicely all the way up through the gears.
Have a look, no need for a big strip down just check the timing marks on the head.
Hope this helps

Mikeee
Completely normal as has been said, you want to see the scars on my knees....
I tried a few timing settings but found that none made any difference, what did was your starting technique.
So fatboy's guide to staring a Honda: First kick of the day pull in the decomp and kick it a few times then let go and get the beast going, After that I always went with a kick or two on the decomp then released and usually went okay after that. It doesn't eliminate kickback but it minimised it in my case.
Cheers
Donald

You're only 15 and did that?
Blimey!
Now that's impressive, lovely restoration for anyone but at 15 that is seriously impressive.

On a personal note, i've got the book as well and watched Lane, primarily in the press, while I was growing up because he was one of them strange things, a Trials rider from the US competing at world level and he rode Bultacos which is maybe more relevant. When the forum fisrt appeared I thought great a former World competitor contributing here, superb; it's amazing how your opinions change of someone when you see them on this level, so's to speak.
-
This brings us all back to the reason why Lane was banned.
Lane made and despite numerous warnings continued to make unsubstantiated accusations about various individuals in the US trials fraternity. When challenged to back these stories and accusations up he refused to respond, even when a public time limit was put on him to respond or lose the Forum, he chose not to therefore Andy banned him and rightly so. It was fitting a few days or so after Lanes World was removed that he came back in all innocence about the situation.
We can all come on here and make crass stupid statements however if they start breaching forum rules action is taken.

FANTASTIC, Orgate looks exactly like it does now from the vids.
You're right about the title though....wonder if Heath knew anything about this Two stroke cowboys...
-
Welcome Chris
That doesn't sound good, did you ensure the air gaps at the top of the legs when you filled up with oil??? I didn't first time I did mine and they were pretty stiff(!), try that first. Next step is to make sure you have reassembled the bushes right and that there is plenty of glide before you fill em up and tighten down the top nuts.
After that it's Private Fraser time...."we're all doomed"....from me anyway. Good Luck
