  1. Gutted to be missing it again this year. I do love Craiglash even better with the wee bit of burn thrown in. I'm downhilling again at Innerleithen again.

Remember the practice/training day at Tillyfourie the following weekend too. Donald, it would be good to see you out on the bike.

I agree, it would be great however, work problems mean I'm working every weekend from now till whenever unless I have them booked off well in advance. Our 5 man roster has become a 3 and a half man roster at very short notice so were back at the 65+ hour weeks again...not great!!

  2. Just a week earlier my own club organised the second round of the Normandale series which attracted 169 starters. We possibly had a few too many for the land which proved to be quite wet (in contrast to the Bemrose which was as dry as I’ve ever seen it), but the real problem for us at the end of the event and commented upon by our forgiving landowners was the huge amount of litter left behind.

As a club we failed miserably as we should have had a litter collecting party on hand at the finish when everybody had gone home. But darkness was falling and the day had been long and arduous, suffice to say we didn’t do a pick up when we should have.

But should we? As a club we have every right to expect riders to respect the land we use and not leave behind a significant amount of litter. So please, let this be a reminder to all and sundry, no matter what the trial, leave the land as you found it please.

Easy answer is to do what we do and issue a black bag to every rider as they sign on, not expensive and it put's the onus on the riders. Apart from anything else the woman who does our environmental stuff at Bon Accord is a right harridan....... ;)

Can't provide answers to the Bemrose issue but there was obviously a breakdown in communications somewhere, unlucky for them

  3. err well... the snow was so bad I couldn't get there..:blush:

actually, the french attacked with their 1664 and won!!!!!!!

    Sorry! howd it go?

Shocking...our forces can't handle an attack of the Kronenburgs.....

Good day, bit sloppy to start with but the course opened out up and dried out enough to make it rideable by all classes. The weather brightened up and we even had some sunshine.

  4. Interesting.....I think there have been some within the SACU looking at different ideas BUT you have a group of people on the management committee who only see that bottom line of numbers at the end of the year and who refuse to change because they are old and set in their ways. I grew up listening to some on them the current President included, bring in money to clubs and association but don't use it to invest in our sport. Do we really need a full-time, fully staffed office?? Why should the SACU have a decent bank balance when our sports are struggling, doesn't that money belong to the riders who take their licences every year because I don't see where else they bring the cash in.

I'm a very occasional rider and the fact that a licence is

  5. Every morning the two newcombers will see dibs in the parc ferme. Dibs will run up section one and be gone while the two new guys discuss yesterday. Dont let the fact dibs is near you put you off, the top guys are so quick you wont see much of him anyway.

Just enjoy the ssdt for what it is, the best trial in the world !

Lucky.....we'll ALL be lucky if Baldilocks leaves that feckin one piece at home

  6. Frame can cost more than a trials bike,10 or more years ago a workmate came back from riding & working for Foes in the states with a bike that was conservatively valued at $10k NZ but they reckoned real cost would be closer to twice that, mind you there were only 2 of those frames in existence at the time.

Forks cost that much that he had to send them back when the season was over

You'd probably be able to buy 2 monts for the price 1 of the bikes used by the top guys

    Try this one boys....

    Clicky..

  7. I did my first 3hr hare and hounds today in elgin, man those things are a handful and they really dont like tree roots. had a good result tho managed 1st place in the sportsman class.

As for the bamcc one im not sure I could put myself through that again!!!!!!!

But i might send the entry form off anyway ;);)

You know want too mate....

  8. Doesn't Bon Accord run enduros too?

    Aye we do.

Spiky...we have a hare and hounds next weekend on the Glen Trusta estate near Brechin might be a good opener for you, three hours at your pace.

    Regs

    Entry Form

Even some pics on the Scottish Endurosweb site.

There are apparently mega problems at Woodside and it should be avoided at all costs. Some major land use shenanigans on the go.

  9. Oh oh ! I can actually understand Mr Cope and I haven't even finished building the still ! I can only advise downing a bottle of Grouse instead of the wine ?

    :hl:

    GJ

Must be why you ride Gassers Gav....that Grouse muck is addling your brain :thumbup:

  10. Off topic but why are Scottish people so touchy and oversensative ?

We're not and you know that, what irks me is what I've written above, people spend a lot of time putting on two of the best events on the planet yet our keyboard warriors see the need to rip the trials and everything about them apart, completely unnecessarily.

How pi55ed of do you get Paul if someone rips your wee club trials apart, too hard too easy, rules are rubbish......any of the garbage that gets spouted on here, multiply that to the level of these international events and put yourself in their shoes.

  11. We saw cock all either cloud base was a 600ft. last time I saw this many geeks cry was when LHC let go it's magnets :biggrinsanta:

Even though it is beautiful are we not witnessing a battle for the preservation of our atmosphere?

Nah not with this, just high energy particles bombarding the atmosphere, causes all sort of hassle with radio and satellite transmissions but other than that it would take a catastrophic solar event to cause us any major problems.

  12. Can I just ask why it is that the club are called upon to justify every rule in the regs (yes you know who you are)? Everyone knows the rules when they send in their entries, if they're not happy about whatever, let someone else take their place! That goes for the p65 as well, remember everyone involved is giving up their own time at their own expense to run these events. Mini rant over.

    ¡Vivan los 6 Dias!

Because there are too many people out there who feel their omission is cause to whine and complain or they just can't handle a day without whining about something!!

The Rules - if you don't like whats in the Trials Regs, DON'T ENTER

Trial is too hard - If you can't handle it, DON'T ENTER

The Ballot - if you don't like it DON'T ENTER

It's in Scotland - if you don't like it DON'T ENTER (the SSDT and Pre 65 committees are not sponsored by Visit Scotland)

It's always my view that 95% of the whines and whinges are motivated by sour grapes, especially the Pre'65. These two trials are the best there is in their respective categories and people want to ride but if you can't accept the rules the club lays down then tough sh!t, get off the respective organisers back, they are not the problem the whingers are!

  13. My old man used to rave about Reg May's tweaks to Bultos and certainly considered him to be in the demi-god ranks of the spanner men at making good bikes into something much more special. I know he always wanted to have one of his bikes breathed on by Reg May.

20 years later when so much more is now possible with lighter stronger materials and better technology the Puma bikes are stunning but even now I think if the money was no option I have something that had been fettled by Reg May than a Puma. I trust my old man's judgement on these things!! (anyway if money was no object I'd have both!!)
