Thanks Jay
That's exactly what happened to me with the guy with the CZ - It was the first corner - I almost holeshot, was top 6 and had a choice of lines - (boy - do I wish I'd chose a different one !) - guy with the CZ T-boned me, we went into a heap and my foot got pulled into his back wheel and stopped his motor dead. Happened really quick - never really hurt at that moment but when I tried to stand up and realised I had a CZ attached to my foot (and the direction my boot was facing me was a medical impossibility) - then it started to hurt ...........!!!
Sad as it sounds, when I got some of theh titanium screws out a yar or so later, I keep them in a jar next to the best of my trophies !
I'll see if I can dig some photo's of my twinshocks out.....
cheers

Great story, and great photo's !
I got into trials after 13 years of Moto-X. The best two years were the last two, in 1997 and 1998 when I rode twinshock. Boy was that fun !
In 97 I rode a 76 Elsinore 125 in the pre-77 class against Maico 400's etc, and finished 3rd overall. That was such a good bike. It didn't have a throttle, just an on-off switch ! - but so much fun to ride and lay down speedway style flat out on fast smooth corners.
98 brought the arrival of a 75 Elsinore 250 imported from California - virtually brand new. Loads of bottom end now !
A great season, until................an argument with a CZ at the Twinshock Grand Prix. My foot got sucked into the spinning back wheel, resulting in a the swinging arm having to be cut, and the underslung pipe bent out of the way to release me. The resulting 5 weeks in hospital, numerous operations and 6 months on crutches put paid to MX - but racing those bikes was so much fun.
The track looks excellent to ride on - would love to get a little Elsinore 125 round those corners flat out !!!!
So - I had a few years off bikes - then took up trials
This will be easy I thought - I've won loads at MX - nothing phases me - this looks a piece of p*ss!!!
5 years later and Im now breaking into top 3 - on the easy route !!!
But - like my wife says - we must have petrol in our veins to keep going at it ...
cheers

this is the original info I got from Brian R at the time ref the clutch lever I bought
If the clutch is a little heavy and quick to engage, try the MSR Raptor clutch lever and perch. Chaparral has them at a really good price but I can't seem to get there website to work. I have one on my TL and one on my son's Amigo. They have a choice of hard pull (quick engagment) , standard pull and easy pull (300%) easier. I think they work great, you don't have to modify the clutch arm and is simple to reverse.

Had one of the first TYS125F's in the country (Oct 03) and kept it for over 2 years - great bike !!
Mods I did:-
Exhaust Baffles
Welded on extensions on the bashplate (invaluable!)
Hebo Footpegs
Clutch lever from the States - this has 3 positions for the cable, and really really lightens the clutch. I got the info from Brian R on Trials Central - Was really cheap as well - I think about

Just done mine....
Fit the front 2 bolts - loose
Scissor jack (car jack) underneath - jack it up into position - fit the two back bolts - loose
tighten all bolts up gradually - (couple of turns on each in sequence)
cheers

Sorted......
Wheel was siezed onto the spindle.
Bit of WD40, and gentle persuasion with a close fitting long reach socket and hammer on the other side did the trick........
cheers
John.
ps - a bit of copperslip due on re-assembly !

I am missing sometjing ?
Just spent the last hour trying to take the front wheel out of my 05 SY250
First up, loosened and took out the 3 allen bolts on the RHS fork leg, then tried to undo the spindle with a 12mm allen key.Was getting tight, and the disc was pushing on the caliper.
Took the caliper off.
The spindle unscrews easily, but the wheel pulls over to the RHS fork leg, then when it gets to the leg the spindle just turns.....!!!
when you tighten it, it does tighten back up no problem....
Am I missing something !!!!!
It has been a long day at work - and I must have taken hundreds of front whels off over the years !!!
cheers

Hi Marky Boy
Love the bike.
I've done 3 trials on it so far, and its soooo smooth.
A bit of history on my (poor!) riding career since moving from Moto-X may help!
I started on a GG Pro, which rode me though the section rather than me ride it ! - I found it so snappy and I 3'd everything !
I had one of the first Scorpa 125T's and kept it for 2 years - improved me dramatically
Had a Beta 200 for the last year and that was a good bike.
I find the Scorpa so tractable and smooth - an excellent bike.
First trial was getting used to it - finished mid pack. Second trial lost 2 marks (it was an easy trial!) - would have been top 3 but I lost the second mark on the last section - last lap ! - tw*t!)
Yesterday's trial was excellent - waiting for the results.
Yesterday's was tougher than last weeks - lots of streams - rock steps etc - the difference this week I rode everything in first rather than second and it made a big difference - slowed everything down in the section.
All in all - very pleased !
I've had the back mudguard sprayed blue as well - doesnt make me lose less marks, but looks so much better!
cheers

I have two trailers, depending upon if I'm on my own or with mates.
Thje single bike one is basically a hand built 4' x 3' box trailer. The front section lifts out allowing the front wheel to sit right on the front member, the back wheel being in the trailer. Advantage - Its a box trailer for use for camping, going to the tip etc ! - Disadvantages - Storage - but I have a biggish back garden so its not a problem. I also have a 3 bike trailer - advantage - cuts down on fuel costs travelling 3 together - disadvantage - storage again, but it does stand vertical and not take up too much space.
I've had vans previously, and bike racks.
I prefer the car and trailer as it's one day a week the car is used to to the bike(s), and it its p-ing down with rain, youre wet anyway so getting changed in the wet makes no difference !

Hi,
Just made a snap decision on an SY250, 05 model. Im moving from a Beta 200, and prior to that a Scorpa 125 4T (had one of the first in the country).
Questions which have been probably been covered before.....!
Petrol/Oil - Currently run the Beta on 70cc per 5 litres, carry on the same with the scorpa ?
One of my riding mates had an SY250 04 for a year, and never had any problems, but anything I should look out for / check ?
As I said, I know the previous owner of the bike I'm buying, know it's been well looked after and a genuine bike.....
Loved the Beta - great bike, well recommended, but looking forward to being back on a Scorpa !
cheers

Im Crying !
Thats absolutely criminal .............. must be a stolen recovered or similar (or stolen at some time in its life and abused!!)

I started competing in trials on a new GG Pro 250 (03 model)
Was soooo light, but rode me through every section, and I struggled to be 'smooth' (I had come from 13 years of Motocross on 125's, where throttle control is either full on or shut off!!)
I bought a 125 Scorpa new in 04, and really really loved it. Was easy to ride, reliable and improved my riding.
The opportunity came up for a 'hardly used' 200 Beta and Ive had that the past year. Very similar to the Scorpa riding slow in sections, but has that bit more grunt if you need it. Great Bike...
The advantage of the Beta is it's a full 200, has the low down torque of a 250 without the snappiness to spit you off.
I haven't tried one of the new Scorpa 163cc yet tho...................now theres a thought !!!!
cheers
John.

As Doogle mentions, they are plastic with a carbon fibre print, so no need to worry about the mixed metals chemical reaction !

I ride regular in the North East, and did the trial on Saturday (easy route). Saturday easy routes tend to be very easy, but a nice ride around if thats what you're after.
My advice, stick with it (my first trial I lost 144 on the easy route, it was won on 2 !!). Different clubs have different standards, but that's not a problem, for instance you'll find this weekends trial at Rookhope, the easy route will be significantly harder than last Saturday but nothing dangerous, just some tricky sections...A great venure this weekend coming, a great trial, and you can virtually guarantee Gordon will have the results on here Sunday night.
Stick with it, and enjoy it......
cheers

Good to see some objective replies, with a bit of thought................
I've found them to be no worse than any others I've tried, and in fact in muddy conditions (when run on very low PSI) have found them to grip very well.
Now I'm no expert rider, so maybe if I was to hop on a 6ft rock step, with an adverse camber then maybe I might be thinking "mmm maybe this compound is a bit hard, and not as sticky as some others......!"
And I buy not on cheap, but value for money - there is a difference
(by the way - does anyone get taught English at school these days !!!!)
cheers
John.

I've ran a couple of rear tyres (please bear in mind I'm an easy route rider!!!), and don't discount them.....
First one was on a Scorpa 125T, and I've recently put one on my Beta 200.
Agree they are a hard compound, and you have to run them at 3psi max, BUT they have served me very well. They last for ages, and for me (and remember I'm an easy route rider) they give no worse grip than others I've tried.
Two weeks ago was a particularly muddy trial (Shafto Craggs) and certainly the Beta gripped as well as anything else..
People vote with their feet, and I have bought two in a row
cheers

My comments for the record........!!!
Started out on a brand new GG Pro 250 - not a good idea, the bike was always at the end cards while my brain was registering the begin cards....!
Moved to a Scorpa 125 4T - Loved it, brought my riding on no end cos it was soooooo smooth ! - Kept it for 2 years, the fell in love with.....
A Beta 200!
Smooth as silk, and pulls up anything - At one trial was flying up a graded hillclimb that the 250's, 280's 290's etc were struggling with. A Gem to ride, loads of grunt and finds grip anywhere !
Im just waiting for the info to come out on the 07's cos I'm fancying another one.........
Try one - You'll not be disappointed........
cheers
John.

El Escorial in Spain, isn't that the ISDT which is featured in 'on any Sunday' ?
