  1. As per pictures below, I have fitted engine (which is offset to give clearance) - and have widened swinging arm. Ive got the rear hub in what I think is the correct alignment measuring as best I can, I can then measure to get correct spacers manufactured. Is there an easy way to check front to back sprocket alignment ? cheers John
  2. Cheers dave do you have a contact number ?ive searched on internet but cant find cheers john
  3. Hi Ive covered rim size on a previous post, but thought I would ask the remaing (at the moment) questions in one go 1 - Sprocket size Its a 4 speed engine - unsure of any internal gearing changes. What the best combination of sprocket sizes ? Also- chain, 428 ? 2 - Wheel offet Im about to get new rims built onto bantam hubs Rear (using a widened swinging arm and engine offset 8mm) - I think needs no offset ? Front - I think 6mm offset to brake side ? 3 - Chain tensioner Any advice on best type ? may think of more ! cheers John
  4. Me and my son are planning on riding as meany of the events as possible. I emailed to ask about the possibility of a youth class (probably within the clubman, open to maybe any A B or C class rider ??). I got a positive reply saying great idea, encourage youths into twinshock/classic etc So........come on, get your sons/daughters to ride with you and support the series ! cheers John
  5. Cheers ! Know the 21 and 18 inch, just wasn't sure of the rim width John
  6. Quick question buikding a bantam at the moment, whats suitable rim size (building new wheels) cheers John

  8. I brought my son on that way whos far better than me now (hes just gone 14, we ride trials together albeit twinshock and pre 65 now but we still do modern trials in the north east) To be honest, richmond club are great with kids on conducted then beginners easy on the main route (where you can ride as well) A couple of weeks ago we ride a guisborough trial and there seemed to be a lot of kids on the conducted route (we rode main trial) Either of these are great routes to start on then any north east easy trial will be good for both of you cheers John
  9. Latest latest update - contacted the guy I bought it off and he had a mikuni 26 built with standard 175 jetting. Going to try a 175 carb I can borrow just to be sure - but may just need more cleaning ! (Ultrasonic ?) Cheers John
  10. Update .... On cleaning the carb found out it has a 125 carb! Trial at the weekend was significantly better, however still not running right - now bogs a little under power ... 175 carb the correct route ?? Cheers John
  11. Thanks for all the info and help. easy things first, as mentioned above a good thorough carb clean first... cheers John
  12. Thanks for the response guys Reeds seem OK (no gap) - but might be worth changing anyway ? Just been stripping it down and a quick question - the inlet rubber onto the reed valve is offset (to the left hand side of the bike) by a significant amount and does not line up with the reed valve - is this normal ? cheers John
  13. Had a problem with my sons TY175 today. Was running great 'till a very wet New Years day trial, where is developed a bit of a cough and splutter. Airbox was soaked when I took it apart, so cleaned the airbox, replaced the filter with a new one (probably needed a change anyway) and cleaned the carb. Nothing obvious in the carb. Next trial out was today, where is had a distinct 'bog' off the bottom when opening the throttle. Also after stopping was really difficult to start. The 'bog' was so bad that riding through a section, seemed ok but then on the uphill exit, it just died (almost like you had left the fuel tap off). Decided to call it a day, again difficult to start (and had a little backfire before it did start again). When ticking over, open the throttle quite quick and it just dies. Running electronic ignition. Any ideas ? Was planning to clean carb again , but any thoughts welcome cheers John
  14. As Gordon says, Butsfield is a vmcc event, the land kindly offered by consett club which is great. Not really a conflict other than for a handfull of riders (me and my son included) one things for sure, you can pretty much guarantee someone will do their very best to puut a trial on cheers John
  15. Hi there Some of the local North East clubs do conducted route which runs separate from the main route, this is what you will need. It really depends upon interest, but all north east trials are advertised on TC, just give them a ring. Richmond club definitely run conducted courses at most of its trials which are a great way to learn. This is how my son learned, its great for the kids let me know if you need more info cheers John
  16. Hi there im in chester le street Trials every weekend in the north east, in the summer choices of saturday sunday and wednesday night ! my advice, go to a locsl trial, then enter one - best and most enjoyable way to learn ! cheers John
  17. Hi there my sons bantam which we got a few months ago is a 3 speed. I was a little worried that it may have been a bit higher geared, however it is fine with 14 tooth front and 62 tooth rear sprocket. It will run on tickover in a section no problem and pulls well. cant comment on longevity as we havent had it too long. cheers John
  18. Thanks for info ! I've ordered electronic ignition anyway, then going to step through carb etc Cheers John
  19. Hi there Im after some advice on my sons Bantam It has a D7 Engine, standard Amal carb and standard style Air Filter. Currently it doesnt have electronic Ignition. We have only had it a few weeks and took to first trial today. Up to now its been tried out in the street with no problem. First couple of sections if was fine - then started to bog badly when opening the throttle - also a bit of backfire ? Got to the point it was difficult to ride was boging so badly. Changed the Air filter for a foam one I had in the tool box but the problem was the same. Got home and after an hour or so on the trailer, fired it up and it ran spot on (albeit only for a few minutes). I do intend to fit electonic ignition anyway (electrex world probably, I've used them on a few bikes with no problem), however any more advice ?? Many thanks John
  20. Hi dave did you get start time and directions cheers john
  21. Hi Dave I think the last one was a Saturday - so start time moved ? I'm assuming 11am - but if you find out any different let me know ! cheers John
  22. Vmcc south durham run 12 trials a year for pre 65, around north east. They are never advertised on TC, normally in TMX and on their website. Good trials for pre 65 cheers John
  23. Hi Dave Do you mean the vmcc one at underbanks next week ? Cheers John
  24. When i had one it had a backfire, but didnt fiddle as it ran well and wasnt a problem. only time it caught me out, it blew the carb boot off during a trial! Didnt realise as it was just off (couldnt tell) , wouldnt start, long push back to the car. Realised what it was when I got home, and was just happy it wasnt high expense ! So check jubilee clip tightness ..... cheers john
