Lots of small silly ones. Worst was my first ever event. Rode the section, managed to clean it (twice!) then stopped after the gates (dunno why). Exit was on the side of the hill. I put my right leg down and found nothing but air! Tumbled down the hill, landed with my thigh on a log or something sticking out, then bike landed on top of that! Black thigh for several weeks, as well as scratched and bent fingers etc.

I know its not the same, but would swap a Sherco 125. . . .
(didn't think so!)
Excuse me if I drool for a few more seconds. . . . . . .
I LOVE those Hondas. Had a TLM 50 once. Can't get the pics to post on here though.
Pete.
Edit: Maybe I can!
-
Havn't seen many around, but there is one that rides in NHMC has just been rebuilt over the period of a few years I think. I used to have a TLM 50, the baby brother. Would give anything to have a 250. Sherco, car, everything!
Sorry, this is more a post of admiration than help i'm afraid.
Just want to drool a little bit more. . .

Thanks for the replys. Unfortunatly there is a good gap between my foot and the pedal, so when I do move my foot it tends to throw me off balance a little-enough be very annoying. I guess I could learn how to get around it thrugh practise, but baording school means two rides a month if i'm lucky! Thanks for the reply though HondaRS, not too much bothered about the amount of force needed, as long as it is in easy reach (I feel I might regret saying that though!)
Chris-no steel of any sort on the pedal and would prefer not to buy anything if at all possible. Will get the old man onto it to see if there is anything he can do.
Thanks again,
Pete.

I got a puncture which let air INTO the tyre which gave me real bad wheelspin!
Ill get my coat. . .

Hi guys. Have found that now riding is improving a bit, i'n riding a bit differently and instead of riding to accomodate the brake on the arches of my feet i'm riding more on the balls (plenty of scope for commente there! ) and am having toido a jig to get to the lever in a section. Is there any way of shortenting the lever or moving it back an inch or so to get it under my toes without moving my whole foot?
Bike is a 2000 125 (orange one!)
Cheers,
Pete.

Hehehe. No, first time out on it. Went fine, I had a go, got it to work fine. Dad got on and. . . crack something broke followed by. . .rattlerattlerattlerattle!
Pic was at tail end of full enginge, frame suspension everything rebuild! Nothing gone wrong in the two years since, but still reluctant to let the old man have a go. . .

My current toy. . .
(in bits, i now whole again, not got any hole pics!)
Pics of old toy coming later.

I would definatly buy a thin, long sleeved shirt, preferably cotton that had as much anti-thorn etc protection as possible, maybe with a little elbow padding. Mainly for use in summer, but could also go underneath a jumper in the winter. Only got one long sleeved thin t-shirt, and thats too small!

I just gotta wiat 'till September. At school there is a list you put your name and magazine/newspaper(s) of your choice on, then you will receive it for the rest of the academic year! Looks like it'll be TMX,Trialsworld, nd maybe dirtbike rider as well! A-levels, who cares!
(PS been looking eveywherea nd still not found either DBR or Tworld!)

I reckon a fairly strong degreaser/cleaner and an old stiff toothbrush or similar will do the trick-if you have a lot of time and patience!
Other than that, no idea!

I reckon I got my sherco 125, standard everything up to about 30/40 ish between sections with plenty of revs still to go. Never clocked it and probably never will though! (Any faster than that the ramblers and dog walkers that you hit make a nasty mess on the front mudguard!)

2-stroke at the moment. As the new 4stokes get more poular, people will be selling their old two strokes so there will a lot of choice for someone with a limited amout of cash. By the time I need more power a still competitive (club trials only) second hand two stroke should be fairly cheap!

Bucket and warm water with washing up liquid, hosepipe, variety of brushes, rags.
Soak bike in warm water and liquid from bucket using brush, get into all areas, hose down. Soap again with smaller brush into the nooks and crannies, hose down. SOak again going everywhere, hose down. Stand to dry for a few mins, then rub over with a couple of rags especially the wheels. Then use a tin of de-watering fluid (castrol dwf) to cover up, makes cleaning easier the next time 'coz of the film that it leaves.

I think i'm safe from that scourge, can't afford to get all the gear. Have to settle for the thickest cheapest jeans I can find! (Having said that, even if I was Dougie you wouldn't get me in one of those things. They look so uncomfortable!)
As to the compulsory for ladies rule, I'd give that the go ahead

Have always worn a helmet doing anything on the motor bike, even though the old man told me not to bother, I was only having a quick flip round the woods one evening, but I like to wear one. I always clip my head on branches and without a helmet would have lots of scars! Having said that, never used to wear one on my mountain bike until recently.
I think that all competitors should wear a helmet at events, but it is up to them when they are practising. Some people in my club wear cycle helmets for lightness and although the club don't like it, they are allowed to ride, but anyone without is not allowed to start at all.
I value my brains (at least, now I do!)

I love riding in mud, tis wonderfull stuff. Always good to get to like it, as it gives you an advantage over the guy who doesn't like it.
The mistake many people make is to rev it up, spin the wheel and try to burn down to traction. Most of the time this doesn't work, especially on clay and bottomless. It also sprays mud everywhere and gets into the nooks and crannies that are a bugger to clean!
Going up a short but greasy climb, get a run up with plenty of speed to make it up, but as you get to the mud roll off the throttle to stop the back fro spinning. If it is on the flat, then slowly and carefully, but keep the front end farirly light to maximise rear grip. Again, low tire pressures needed.
My favourite type is in a stream, about a foot of brown water, slightly sludgy with mud underneath that is fairly firm. Looks bad, others get worried when it is actually quite easy to manage!
Hope this helps,
Pete.

Ill give it a shot!
Started out being a test of reliability around 1900 I think. If you could even finish the course then you were lucky. As the bikes got better, faster then there were morte tests added. Some organisers put speed sections in, and some added rougher ground. As each was used more they developed into Motocross and into Trials. The early trials were still quite difficult on unreliable bikes, and still had some outrageous clothes! The 'footing' coat was often worn, this went to the ground to try and fox the observer into thinking you hadn't dabbed! As time went on the bikes got better, tests got bigger. When rear suspension was introduced in the '50s I think the tests got harder. The next big step was two strokes which again increased the difficulty then came mono-shocks. After that all things have been weight saving, switching to liquid cooling etc until the new four strokes have come!
Hope this helps, a very brief history!
Pete.

Yeah great, thanks!
Been wondering about it for some time now.
Thanks a lot!

Hi all.
My 2000 125 is orange. Iv'e only seen 2 other orange sherco's and they were 125's as well. Is there are significance to this? Was it a 'limited edition', or just a 125 thing? (Also I don't think I ve seen a 2000 that isn't a 125.)
Any info would be brill.
Thanks, Pete.

Yeah its been running a long time now, lets have the answer.
Would the REAL M4RT please take a step forward. . .

Great topic so far, looks like fun. No idea yet so will have to tick someone else. Surely there is a way to track down the computer he uses. Andy, got anything up your sleeve?
