A very beautiful looking bike.... its a shame it has a lot less power than a 250cc 2 stroke; it will probably prove to be quite a handicap coming off a GG Racing 300
Thanks for your first comment, not so much for your second! “This is show us your montesa” not bash people’s new bikes ?
If you’re after a 4t it’s and easy decision, Honda every time! 24 world championships back to back and total domination in trial 2 this year is proof enough for me.
My self and the group of lads I ride with have a mix of Montesa’s and gasgas’s and we ride some seriously muddy venues, I am yet to see the Montesa’s struggle in the grip department in comparison, in fact if anything I’d say they get more drive.
Has anyone taken delivery of a 2018rr in the Uk? After some feedback on how they ride? Currently own a Gasgas but the component spec of the rr has my attention.
I’d prefer a Rieger over an Ohlins, would be a little disappointing seeing an Ohlins on the racing models especially when there’s talk of a £400 pound price increase ☹️ Lower spec at a higher price? Hopefully this isn’t the case?
For a little while I’ve wanted to know the actual difference in weight between a Montesa 300rr and a GasGas 300 racing.
Having ridden both extensively I always get the feeling the Honda is much more than the claimed 72kg considering how much heavier it feels compared to the claimed 67kg gasgas.
Fairly sure these figures must be dry, no fuel, oils and coolant etc.
I decided to get the scales out! Both bikes were fitted with a full set of guards, fork, frame and swingarm, all ready to be ridden with oils, coolant and a full tank of fuel. The only real difference to the spec was the Montesa had been fitted with a heavier duty Csp sump guard, approx 500g more than the standard item.
The results were as expected.
The Montesa 76.5kg and the gasgas was just under 70kg at 69.2kg
so the ready to ride difference was 7.3kg.
both bikes are fantastic to ride and the extra weight of the Montesa isn’t a problem, it’s only really obvious when ridden back to back, or when you’ve been injured or nackered after a long day out and have to load them it the van! ??
Looks like a slight change of decals and another flimsy sump guard for the 260 ?
Anyone seen or heard anything on the 2018 300rr? Would be nice to see it actually be a true 300cc rather than it being a 289cc ? suppose 290rr doesn’t sound as impressive ?
What would be the point of the coarse layer other than being to replace the flame guard?
None of the other jitsie filters for other bikes have this same outer? Or do they? So it seems plausible with the Honda being the only bike running a flame guard that they would account for this when designing the filter.
There's no way the guys at jitsie have made the filters this way by mistake.

Unfortunately living on the Isle of Man the vehicle registration number can’t be found on a uk website.
