  1. I had a HiBoy (SM452) Bult about 2 1/2 decades ago. Most of it got stolen whilst it was stripped for a rebuild, I only have the crankcases which without looking I seem to recall were M49. Mine had Rickman hubs and wide flange Akront Rims. I still don't know how I can remember the frame number all these years later. Wayne....
  2. I doubt vinyl will either (For long anyway). Originally the Poly tanks were screen printed with the graphics. Not what you wanted to hear I'm sure. Ivan Cirre in Spain has some 199B tank decals but not sure what type they are. Wayne....
  3. South? Hehe, well I guess it is for you.. Sorry I couldn't make it up to Telford, work came first in the end. Wayne...
  4. I'd say go for it if the price is right. But then I'm a sucker for twinshocks. Parts wont be cheap as they are getting scarcer but you can get lucky. It might even be a good investment the way prices of Classic Twinshocks are going. It's actually cheaper to get into the sport with a several year old mono than a late Twinshock. Wayne....
  5. The rear one is going to be the annoyingly costly one unless you got a tame machinist. We are rarely tame hahaha. It's also the hub which takes the most load of course with the sprocket driving it. I guess it all depends of how much meat there is as you don't want to machine the drum too thin either. Pressed on might not be enough. I have a similar problem with a Grimeca alloy hub on an Ossa gripper, the sprocket bolts have ripped through their bosses. Probably caused by loose bolts or it could be a known issue. Wayne....
  6. I'd say they were at end of life <slight understatement>. Cast Iron can be successfully welded or brazed, but in this instance I'd advise against it. Only possible repair scenario I could think of is the machine off the whole flange and sweat a newly machined steel one in it's place, but thats likely to cost more than a replacement hub I'd guess. Are they Bantam hubs? Wayne....
  7. Not got a Kid 50 or 0.5? but from looking at a couple spec sheets on the net it seems they use 2.00x16 and 2.50x15 tyres. These are the same width/rim size as used on the old Cota 25A and it's this machine I need tyres for. Are they likely to fit the old cota rims? I had heard they may be bicycle tyres? Any known suppliers for these I could talk to? At the moment the cota tyres are all in one piece but for how much longer with use it's anyones guess! Wayne...
  8. Go to you local bearing factors and ask them to look them up. C3 is the radial clearance rating and will be quite important. The cages are probably phenolic (Tufnol) Though in a gearbox I'm not sure what advantage Phenolic cages will give. Wayne....
  9. It may of been done to Regina (original chain manufacturer I believe) specs and possibly reduces snatch on the runoff off that small driving sprocket, considering the close proximity of the roller tensioner. That chain is a little non standard, but whatever the reason I think you have nothing to worry about.
  10. The primary drive crankshaft sprocket is normally a little truncated on Bultaco's from memory. Now I'll have to go look at one to check myself! Update: Just found a single sided bultaco flywheel in my store pic attached. The tooth profile does look quite truncated, and it's not wear. Not sure which engine that flywheel is from, possibly a smaller Frontera or Pursang. Wayne...
  11. Small world! That conrod kit was sat on my desk a week ago, well at least I think it must be the same Gavin! He got a bargain there ! Wayne....
  12. RTX maybe? Chromed frame, shallow angle on rear shocks? A picture might say a lot. Wayne....
  13. I got a couple of M80 frames around here somewhere too. Have to check on engines. Wayne....
  14. Years too late into this thread I know! But anything about 340's is of real interest to me, as I'm lucky enough to have one. This Mono I have seen before. Many years ago when I was most active in the scene an article of sorts appeared in the SMOG magazine when it was still published by the Mobley's. I was in touch with the creator of this machine, and a couple of things I can remember are that he built the frame himself, the engine had been narrowed and Suzuki Flywheel and CDI Ignition fitted, the hubs were billet machined. I'll try to dig out the magazine when I'm next up in the attic. Wayne...
  15. Would they actually pass an MOT with LED lights? But anyway that simplifies the question for the OP, just take a look at what the OEM gear has in the headlight. Wayne....
  16. This might help. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rectifier Best of all speak to a good Physics or your GCSE Electronics teacher, and explain what you want to do. It'll be good to maybe do some hands on experiments first. I'd hope in this day and age modern Trials Bikes have rectified and regulated lighting circuits! Oh the "fun" in my youth of riding my Bultaco's on the road at night and the Festoon bulb rattling out of the tail light and causing the headlamp bulb to blow!! Wayne....
  17. I have no idea if the Gas Gas has a rectifier for it's lighting circuit. 6 x 2v rated LED's in series will need no resistor in theory. But if the Supply is AC then a diode in series would be needed.
  18. Depends on the LED's. You need to look at the datasheet and calculate it. Not all leds are rated the same. Most are rated for 1.2-2v and say 20mA. A quick google gave this page which may help you. http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/components/led.htm Wayne...
  19. Try to make it at least look like the OEM part, but repackable you then might be able to sell a few to pay for the project. I started a similar project sometime ago (Years!) for another popular Spanish bike Might be worth resurrecting as I even got around to making half the press tooling. Wayne...
  20. Ah a squaddie! OK I'm guessing the closest Yam main dealer is Poole Motorcycles. Poole Motorcycles Ltd, 138 Stanley Green Road, Poole, Dorset, BH15 3AH, U.K. Tel. (01202)670023 Fax. (01202)669734 Easy to find, just further down the same road as B&Q. Not been there for a long time, but they at least used to be helpful. Other than that there may be one in Dorchester. Wayne.....
  21. Have you tried a Yam main dealer? Poole motorcycles maybe? Not sure if you are In Blandford or just from Blandford. I knew of a place in the Alderholt area that did Just rings mainly for the vintage scene. I think they basically had all the stock from when Wellworthys at Ringwood closed down. If you are still stuck I'll try find out who they were. Wayne....
  22. Ongoing development I guess. I'm not sure we can become too set in our opinions when talking Bultaco's Those early mag covers were not that strong. I recall a serious Bultaco collector friend from Italy coming to see me years ago and looking at my MK9 370 Pursang, he was sure it was all wrong! But it's turned out rear shock mountings on that had changed mid year. That machine is an oddball in one other way, the engine and frame numbers do NOT match, but are only 1 last digit out. Wayne...
  23. That second frame does look just like an M80. Is the engine in the first bike original? I would of thought the M49 engine would of still had the early 4/5 speed covers, ie clutch adjustment on the left cover, well at least the couple of M49 engines I have here are like that. Wayne....
  24. I wouldn't do that to an enemy! I know for a fact the crank flywheels are cracked around the crankpin. I'm still waiting for a good crankshaft to show up somewhere, not actually looked too often though. I still think It'll make a good project for me sometime in the future. Wayne....
