I take it you are looking at mid/late 90's models. Both the Scorpa and the Beta are likely to be very well used, you realy do need to buy by condition. One could be so much better/worse than the other as to cancel out any advice given.
A really tidy Techno would be a good buy, but a rough one could be a money pit. And vice-versa.
Which one is in the best condtion?
-
Yes, that's already the case. However, there is an on-going discussion concerning the benefit of allowing younger riders use bigger machines (which I believe is allowed by AMCA clubs at the moment possibly?)
Would it help attract youngsters to the sport?
-
Here's a topic for constructive discussion.
Certain interested parties are asking ACU Centres for their opinion on the current age and machine regulations for youth riders.
In our club we have very few under 16's, despite positively promoting the youth side of trials with championships, trophies, conducted routes and even a youth trial, we are struggling to attract the younger riders.
Personally I don't think a change in the age groups or machine capacities would make any difference to entries.
eg 6 year olds on 80's, 13 year olds on 250's etc etc
What do you think, could a change make a difference to youth entries?

Under ACU rules, both.
As soon as he turns 16 he can ride as an adult on any capacity machine. He can also continue riding as a Youth until the end of the year when he is 17 on a 125. He can also, if he chooses swap between the two as he wishes.

The video of Alexz was from 2009 which was the last time the Colmore was run stop allowed, so it was a perfect clean.
Since then, the S-3 Parts championship has been non stop. And from an organisers point of view (not as a rider, as I'm not good enough for this) swapping to non stop for the Colmore has been much much better.

I notice the Wallace has a full house also.

One last one but from 2010 which was TSR22b.
This is the third of the 'Three Sisters' climbs in Dovedale whihc riders can look forward to. We always make this one graded, the three board has an escape route and many of the clubmen riders turn off after that, but after the three there's no escape! It's wet, muddy, rooted, and vertical! (And did I mention muddy!)
Not many cleans here, but this was one of the very few.

Here's a clip from the next section, it's on the other side of the same bank and it gives you a btter idea of how steep the hill was. Stopping really didn't help on this section.
A lot of riders failed here completely, this was a truly fantastic ride by Maria Conway!
-
I agree, putting in a B route on 50% of the sections has made a significant difference to entries.
I found the video from Top Farm in 2009 when I was trying to remember the last time we ran the Colmore under non stop, I thought you might like to watch it. The section came up a very steep grassy field along the course of an old Cotswold stone wall that has fallen down.
The B route rode straight up and the A route had the diversion to the side over a larger more awkward stone. Nothing dangerous but it still took a few marks.
Here's another from the same spot. Remember, this is actually very steep!

The Colmore has been run under TSR22b non stop since 2010. This will be the third year.

Be prepared to pay for the letter from Yamaha.
I did an enduro bike a few years back and they charged me

Off a small bracket located infront of the carb on the right hand side.

And the previous year (or was it three years ago? Time flies!) the Colmore was TSR22a stop allowed.... the later entries were missing sections to stay on time, and the observers were out in the dark.
But back to my main point (and the important one), if you are riding in the S-Parts Championship and need the points.... make sure your entry is in and on the list shown! Some will think they have plenty of time and it's nearly full!

I can assure you, the many hundreds of man-hours spent putting this event on is not done to make money, it's done to make it a success.
-
The Stratford-Upon-Avon Club S3 Parts Colmore Cup trial, which is being run under TSR22b non stop rules is approaching a full entry despite still being a month away.
If you are planning to enter this event, you should get you entry in as soon as possible.

Honda do love world champions!

The idea is to promote Conducted trials to everyone who is at the Telford Show and try to generate interest in the Youth D & E classes.
It's suprising how few people know that trials of this type exist.
I will have a 12.5" Oset, a 16" 36V Oset and a Gas Gas 50 auto on display.
Any clubs that would like a free plug on the display, just give me the details. It's not much, but every little helps.

Here's a picture of my SY250 that I bought new in 2005. Apart from things like tyres and wheel bearings, it's still on all it's orignial parts. The 2006 model had a flat bash plate and black wheels.

I have a small display stand at a well advertised Trials show (coming up in the next week or so.) No names no pack drill, but it is at Telford.
The stand is not selling anything, it is promoting our own Conducted trials for riders aged 4 and above.
If there are any other clubs that run conducted routes that would like a mention on the stand, let me know and I will put up a list.
I need is the name of the club, your location and the dates of the events.

And make sure your earth lead is as close to the weld as possible.

In the video there's a few backwards fives, but surley there's also at least one five for crossing his own line?
I doubt there was a 100% genuine clean of that section even under stop allowed rules. As said above, this really illustrates to difficulty the CotC has when setting out under either set of rules.

Stratfrod-Upon-Avon Club in the Midland Centre, club trials stop allowed TSR22a (by the request of riders who expressed an option) and all other trials TSR22b Non stop.
Almost definately will move completely over to non stop for 2013.

I've got a cheap one that I bought off ebay, it's more than upto the job for a non o ring trials bike chain.
