    Leaky rad

Yep, clean up the area well first and it works suprisingly well. I certainly wouldn't buy a new rad until I'd tried Araldite or had a quote for a proffessional repair.
  2. Friday 29th April - 10.30 Newmans Quarry near Little Compton - signposted off the A44 between Chipping Norton and Moreton in Marsh. I will set out two routes plus a seperate conducted route for youth D & E. If anyone would like an Expert hard route, let me know and I'll stick in an extra hard diversion for you. Newmans Quarry is an ideal place for a little club trial and even has permanent toilet facilities on site. I've set the time fairly early so that you should be able to ride and still be finished by lunch time. And not miss the Royal TV action in the afternoon. Pete
  3. With the bike level on the ground, using a spirit level to give a vertical datum line, the off set of the mounting bracket welded to the frame/hanger is approx 38 degrees. (This is of course a rough measurement as suspension sag, tyre pressures effect the angle of the bracket in relationship to the level floor.) I hope this helps. Pete
  4. It's a formal document from the importer that DVLA will accept if you wish to register your bike. A receipt is unlikely to contain enough information. If the certificate of newness can't be found, a letter from the importer stating the year of manufacture will also suffice. Expect to be charged for this. (If you get it for free then it's a bonus.) Pete
  5. A back tyre lasts a damn sight longer than a tank of fuel in the car.... and costs less! Now that's what I call expensive!
  6. You can't blame the Police for looking for uninsured bikes if they stopped one last year and then found another this year. Perhaps the message will start getting through and the Police will have done their job.
  7. They can impound vehicles with no insurance, are there other reasons?
  8. Yes. It's all very well saying this bolt will take that weight and that bracket will take this weight. But the fact remains that the manufacturers state a figure, if this is exceeded and the vehicle is involved in a fatal accident then the driver is likely to be held accountable.
  9. I'm very seriously considering a crew van. With three young children, it's not just for moving trials bikes on a Sunday, it would be really useful on a daily basis. The car is starting to seem rather small these days. Which one to buy though? Maybe a Trafic/Vivaro?
  10. I've not fitted that many but have certainly done ten IRC's (and probably the same number of Michelins) over the years, how do you get the IRC's to go on so easily? Pete
  11. Be as gentle as you possibly can, they distort supprisingly easily.
  12. Could the two issues be related? Maybe the clutch isn't operating correctly causing the gear selection to be stiff?
  13. You just may also have a tubless tyre but with a tube fitted by the previous owner for some reason.
  14. The ACU started checking road race bikes back in the 90's, I wonder how many stolen bikes were found from this? Bear in mind that there are only one or two race meetings on at any one time and all road race bikes are scrutineered by trained officials anyway and that road bikes are generally more expensive than trials bikes, then you start to see the problems we would face try this at trials. It's never going to happen. It would take too long to check every frame and engine number at every trial, never mind cross referencing the info with stolen bikes.
  15. If you think JB is annoying, try listening to the drivel over the top of the BBC's coveraqe of the Moto GP. I started watching the race yesterday and found the comentary so annoying that I switched off and waited for the Eurosport screening later on. Truly awful jibberish, does no one at the BBC have ears?
  16. Talking of nipples.... it would make life so much easier if manufacturers fitted grease nipples to swinging arm pivots and suspension bushes. I'll take the extra 0.1kg weight and
  17. I just wish the camera's would step back a bit more so that we can see the section. Nothing worse than a rider cleaning an impossible jump and we are watching his foot fly past!
  18. A small amount of float is correct.
  19. I'm thinking of going that way, for the same reasons. How does running the van compare with running a car and a trailer/bike rack?
  20. Thanks for the picture. Did they give you any advice as to the max weight of the bike and how it effected the car or insurance etc? There is another thread running about the pro's and con's of using a rack and these are some of the questions being asked. Pete
  21. I know it's only a bit of fun, but personally I'd rather not see it at all in any form.
