Well done to the two riders who turned up to the first..... and last, Oset trial at Saintbury Quarry today.
-
Having read your post earlier today, I've just been out to the garage and found that my swinging arm was also far too tight. I removed the lower shock bolt and the arm stayed in exactly the same position, I'm sure my daughter could have ridden the bike in a trial without the shock fitted.
I've slackend the bolts off and refitted the shock and it works correctly now. She's only ridden the bike twice but I'm amazed that I didn't spot the absence of rear suspension.
Top tip, thankyou

A really good condition 310 or TY will give you hours of fun and be capable of far more than you, but as mentioned above a more modern trials bike will be a lot easier to ride and therefore far more competitive.
The main thing I would advise is to buy by condition, a 10 year old minter is much better than a 3 year old nail. Things like tyres, c&s, seals and bearings soon add up and you so often hear of people doubling the initial price of their 'bargain' bike once they've spent the money doing it up.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Just to let any interested young riders know that we have plotted eight sections with two routes on each, the easy route is set with class E riders in mind and the hard route for slightly older class D riders.
It definately won't be a hard trial.
If I get half a dozen or so turn up, then I plan tol make this a regular thing at our club trials.

The lad had a new one back in 2002 and it was brilliant. He found it really easy to start unlike the 125 and it felt so light whilst having all the controls of a full sized machine. The perfect stepping stone for a small 11 year old.
The only problem I had with it was fouling plugs. He learnt to carry a spanner around in his pocket with a spare plug. For some reason every few trials it would stop without warning. No amount of kicking or pushing would get it to go once the pug gave up. A new plug and it always started first kick and away he went. Other than that it was brilliant.
I kept it for about 18 months and then he upgraded, even from new I only lost about

A massive well done to Ian Hutchinson for winning five races at this years Isle of Man TT. Never been done before!
Also, a huge well done to lady racer Jenny Tinmouth for setting the fastest ever lap of the 37.73 mile circuit by a female competitor with and average speed of 119.94 mph.
Yes, that's an AVERAGE speed of 119.94 mph over 37.73 miles!!!

I spoke to the licence dept about this and they tell me that it is perfectly acceptable for a club secretary to accept a correctly completed trials registration form at the start of a trial and still allow the rider to compete that day.

My lad had a TXT80 big wheel for 12 months and it did him proud, it was easy to start and felt very light. It made riding simple because every section was first gear, he got on with it very well.
He spent so much time restarting and picking it up at first that a heavier and harder to start 125 might have put him off completely.

Looking at some of the spelling, he could actually mean anything!

Do you always turn the fuel tap off? Just wondering if the crankcase is filling up with fuel possibly?

Stratford-Upon-Avon MCC youth C rider James has had his 2008 Gas Gas 125 stolen from a locked shed in Chipping Campden, Glos.
The trials bike seems to have been specifically targeted as a quantity of other high value items were left untouched during the theft.
James is devastated at the loss of his 125 having recently won the club Youth C championship, his father is offering a

If you get a good 125 it doesn't really make much difference if it's a Gas Gas or a Sherco, they will both be more than capable. Buy by condition.
The 200 is quite different from a 125, they need a lot less revs and therefore a different riding style.

The Stratford-Upon-Avon Club will be running a Saturday afternoon trial specifically for Conducted riders with class D and the NEW CLASS E licences.
The trial will take place at Saintbury Quarry near Broadway on Saturday 19th June starting at 2pm.
There will be two routes on offer with trophies presented on the day to the best rider on each route.
The emphasis on the event is to provide a FUN afternoon with sections suitable for the smallest young trials riders away from the distractions of a normal club trial.
Similar aged riders, easy sections, no pressure equals FUN.
The following day will be a normal Club trial, so any small wheel riders can make it a two day meeting if they wish.
For more information see the TC Calendar on the front page.

Thanks for the write up, it looks like you have a tidy little machine there and some fabulous trail riding closeby too.

Congratulations, he looks like he's having loads of fun.
My daughter was riding her Oset at three with training wheels fitted the the rear axle. She is small for her age and would have been completely overwhelmed with trying to ride on two wheels at that point.
She rode it for a good year with them fitted and had litterally hundreds of hours fun on it. Eventually she grew enought to ride without them but even then she could ride her Oset on two wheels before she could ride a push bike. She would ride her trials bike every day if she could, it was worth taking things slowly at first for her.

No for long I'm afraid.
The engines are tuned for low down grunt rather than top end power and there is not enough suspension travel to cope with the repeated jumps and bumps of a mx track.

Fantastic boot review Trialsguysid, you should work for Which? magazine
I've also been very pleased with my Novogar boots. They did take a long time to wear in but are two years old and still resist water very well.

I've got on well with my Novogar boots for around

The last time I rode there the biggest problem was the cows eating the markers!

As Woody said, the Stourbridge B route will be perfect for a newcomer to the sport and a really friendly bunch too!
-
Too far for you to travel I guess, but the Stratford-Upon-Avon Club are running a completely seperate event just for Conducted class D&E riders on Saturday the 19th June at Saintbury Quarry.
There will be awards given out to the best on each route at the end.

Certainly does look like an '04 from that link.

I recently read that very good tip on another thread, I'd never thought of that before! Still waiting to try it for myself.
I've always welded on an old nut or bolt and tapped that out, but then I've got a welder permanently set up in the garage, so it's an easy option.
Will try the rawlbolt next time.
