  1. B route is the same idea. yeLLow - Left, gReen - Right It's when you get to C routes and D routes that things become rather more complicated, which is why coloured arrows are a brilliant idea. Simply remember the colour that you are riding and ride between the arrows. If you go the wrong side of an arrow, you can only blame yourself!
  2. Crickey that takes some remebering, I'd need to write that on the back of my hand to remind me when I was setting out!
  3. I really dislike riding events marked with pairs of colours (unless they are coloured arrows) I remember loosing a National Trail bike trial for dropping five marks when I rode between the wrong pair of whites in a very easy section. I asked the observer why I'd got the five and he said 'you rode between those two whites, when you should have ridden through those two!' I know that going the wrong way in a section is part of trials but that one was particlarly frustrating. My fault for not checking the correct route, but an easy mistake to make.
  4. A route = Blue - Left, Red - Right. B route = Yellow - Left, Green - Right C route = Pairs of Whites Lets not even think of a D route!!! One thing you will gather from the answers to this question is that there needs to be a fixed standardised system. Yes the Scottish system caters this very well, but sadly the ACU are reluctant to 'upset' clubs by enforcing a system different from the one they have been using for 'a thousand' years. So until our lords and masters come off the fence and stipulate a method for marking out multi route trials, we will all continue to use what ever system we have always used.
  5. Let us know how you cure the issue. It certainly is an unusual one. Best of luck. Pete
  6. Yes, I guess lower pressures might give problems. The DRZ is a heavy bike so I keep the rear at 5psi, that said I only drop to 4psi on the Scorpa.
  7. I guess that the pads are contaminated with brake fluid, as soon as they heat up the fluid comes to the serface and reduces the braking efficiency. If this is the case, no amount of sanding will cure the problem. Only a guess though.
  8. If the rear wheel runs over the ends cards then it makes no difference, the section is finished as soon as the front spindle exits the section.
  9. I've used tubless IRC's and Michelins on the back of my DRZ400 for LDT's with no problems. Just make sure you have a decent rim lock fitted.
  10. It's not a problem providing the course setters remember to put the ends cards at least one bikes length away from the obstacle.
  11. Sounds a bit odd! Are the pads ok? Did you get brake fluid on them maybe?
  12. I have been the Clerk of the Course a number of years for the Union Jack Trial which is part of the Sammy Miller Championship and it's true that the bigger bikes seem to struggle against the lighter machines. In the past they came into their own on the road sections between the groups, making for a more relaxed ride around, but as the smaller lighter bikes became more common/popular, the length of the route has dropped. This year the single lap of 35 sections will cover just 30 miles. As for additional classes, there are already a significant number of different awards with some classes in single figures, so it is unlikely that yet another class would be added. That said, event the hard route is usually not too tough in this series. For riders wishing to enter a really challenging classic trial, there is the Classic (Traditional?) Championship. The Sammy Miller series is far more moderate. The class winners are usually on one or two marks. Pete
  13. Can you post us a picture before you get it dirty. You might have a piece of real trials history.
  14. A few years back we ran nine trials (including two Nationals) but to some extent it's self limiting. We found that it's generally the same small group of workers who put on the events, after a while we lost some of our enthusiasm so we've dropped a couple of club trials. I don't know how organisers find the motivation to run loads of events every year.
  15. Welcome to Trials Central Ben. It's a bit quiet on here at the moment for some reason, probably too much Christmas cheer to think about trials.
  16. They do look like excellent value for money.
  17. Sunny bright day here in the Midlands UK, just above freezing but still have the central heating on in the garage :-)
  18. You won't be able to use the tube rear on a tubless rim. Sorry.
  19. Was it just my TV or did the picture have a really wide black border all around? The border made it hard to watch for me.
  20. The original sump plug is M12 x 1.5 x 12mm
  21. Reminds me of a Subaru with that air horn and the spoiler.... I mean number plate!
  22. They may even have a cheaper pattern one available.
  23. Why would you say my opinion is "rubbish" I never mentioned Steve Saunders?
