  1. I have to say that I really did get on the with the 290 when I tried it. In wet muddy conditions, it's low down power and ability to grip was amazing. I'm never even going to ride the hard route at club trials, so I certainly don't need the power. But it was just so easy to ride. The bottom third of the revs felt about the same as ALL the revs on my Scorpa, I only had to be careful above half throttle

Don't forget that Addict rides for 16 hours a day, he only ever stops for a red bull and a tab and it's full throttle all the way! The poor motor needs all the help it can get.
  3. Nice on Just. As you're road legal for another year, do you have insurance that covers you whilst in between groups in a road trial? I recently swapped to Carol Nash and stipulated that I wanted cover on the non competitive parts of an event. Sure enough they came up trumps and the exclusion is not there! The last five or six years I've had to take out rta cover at each road trial, now I'm ok. Although the one event
  4. I'd say '97 too. It has a one piece mudguard/seat.
  5. Welcome to trials Steve, I always use fully synthetic 2t oil and mix 80mls to 5 litres. Some may tell you to use more and others will say less, you can always use less next time if you feel it's running a bit oily. One thing you will really notice with trials is how inexpensive the sport is, a set of tyres will last for many events and the entry fee is usually under
  6. If it's on there already just give it a try. You can let us know what you think, they certainly are cheap.
  7. Centre boxes do tend to knock on the top of the engine and split, if this happens get it ally welded and grind off the offending lump on the engine before you refit.
  8. Close but no cigar! Well spotted. Too easy
  9. Ok, since this is a Yamaha forum I'll get it going with this one.
  10. NOw you've got us going, doesn't that look like Steve Saunders dog?????
  11. Yes, I've heard back from him also, he's been having a laugh at the posts on here. The bike is actually sold but he is having trouble cancelling the auction, so he's deleted the text on the listing.
  12. I'd take a guess that it is the front wheel from a TY175 twin shock, probably about 1978 but with the wrong front mudguard fitted.
  13. Looks good in the picture.
  14. The location is very close to me but I can't recognise it from any of the pictures, he looks like an experienced seller and has an excellent feedback. He is breaking a number of small bikes, if yu look at his other listings he is always a man of few words, but has excelled himself with this Yamaha.
  15. I observed in the Ralph Varden Centre championship round at the weekend, it was a traditional style of event which you find in this area. Mud, cambers and wet tree roots. It's amazing how many riders lost marks trying to bounce and hop, when so many cleaned the section by riding it non stop. I took a short break from observing when a mate appeared and I shot a few video clips. Remember the camera makes it look a lot flatter than it really is. Concerning making sections too tight to be ridden non stop; don't forget it's ok to have a dab to get round a really tight turn, it gives you a 'one' not a 'five' whether the rules are stop or non-stop it's still just a one!
  16. This auction site should provide an automatic spell checker. Can you imagine collecting the bike and the seller says "well I told you it needed re-comishing"!
  17. Had pretty much the same ting with a road race rider a few years back. Only you forgot to mention the paragraph that states: When your results don't match your over inflated ego, always blame the team, the track, the tyres, the suspension, the organisers or even the weather. Never but never NEVER blame yourself!!!
  18. I'll mention it to Wrighty, thanks for letting me know. Pete
  19. I definately percieve the IRC's to be an advantage, I wouldn't use anything else on the Scorpa, but for LDT's I use Michelins on the 400, IRC's just wear out too quickly.
  20. If you're on your bike it has to be better than not being on your bike. I often spend ten minutes just riding around my car on (my very short) drive when I don't have enough time to go practicing. Pete
  21. 2004 Rev3's all had weak kick starts, many broke off and virtually all have the problem which you mention. Take it off the bike and weld it no problem. Pete
  22. Yep. Each observer has their own level of tollerance for such things, but I would suggest that two feet is well outside any tollerance. Pete
  23. Wrighty called me this evening and mentioned that he is short of a Garelli and a Moto Gori trials bike for his show next year. There are a number of themes to the 2010 show and Italian Twin shocks is one, he would be very interested in speaking to anyone who has a nice example that they might like to display. Pete
