Yep probably the caliper pistons sticking, however it is always worth checking that the master cylinder piston is moving freely before you start on the calipers.
-
The entry is looking good with just one more needed to make it the magic ton.
This is made up of 56 Championship route riders and 43 Non Championship (50-50 easier) route riders.
Riding for the Colmore Trophy but not Novogar points are:
James Fry
Sam Connor
Dan Thorpe
Alexz Wigg
Sam Haslam
Representing the ladies are:
Emma Bristow
Katy Sunter
Becky Cook
Maria Conway
If you are still planning to ride the entries are open until 2nd March but are limited to 120 due to the shortage of light at this time of year.

Yes. It is 25 sections and 18 miles from the first petrol station on the way out to the second one on the way back.
-
There is a petrol station a few hundred yards to the left as you exit the first group of sections at Dovedale, then another as you head back to Dovedale for the second visit (same observers, different sections)
You are unlikely to make it to the second fill up if you don't top up at the first, as the second petrol station is about 20 miles (and 32 sections) from the start.
I suggest that you carry a small bottle of oil if you are riding a two stroke.
If you have a follower in a vehicle, they can park in the picknick area at the Top of Fish Hill off the A44 between Hancocks (Section 21 to 24) and Saintbury Quarry.
However, the risk assessment for this event prohibits refuelling at the side of the road

Excellent list there Scorpa4, the piece of equipment that I find the most handy is a small compressor with a tyre inflator, an impact gun and a trigger nozzle.
It's also suprising how often I use my small mig welder and an angle grinder. Not really for repairing the bike, but for making or adapting tools or jigs.

All good advice. Also... There's a chance that now the head has sheared off the thread, that the thread is actually loose. See if you can tap it around (anti clockwise) with a centre punch, once you have a few threads sticking out you can grab it with a pair of mole grips.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I didn't say it wasn't an advantage, I just can't see what harm it would do? It's not as if it costs a lot or is hard to source. Please explain.

I agree, a mate of mine bought a 350 Contact as a first bike some years ago and it nearly did for him! He's still got the scars to prove it! You won't go far wrong with a tidy TYmono, although it's best to try and get a disc brake one if you can.

Ben Sprigg at Top Farm during last years Colmore.
-
When you landed, did it toss you off the bike?
-
It makes no difference to mine. I've drained the oil from stinking hot and left it over night, I've leant the bike right over and stood it back up and what ever I do, it only needs 400mls to fill it back up.
I'm not saying the oil isn't in there (although I don't think it is) I'm just saying I can't get any more out.
If the oil level hole is in the correct place, then 400mls is an oil change. If I'm wrong, please feel free to coorect me as this has been a source of confusion for seven years as I had my first SY250 in 2002 and that was the same.

If you have an 18" rear wheel, all you will need is a trials tyre with a security clamp and a smaller front sprocket and I should think the little DR would make a really good LDT bike.
There are lots of events for this type of machine, many of the riders who enter are trail and enduro riders rather than regular trials riders, so you will probably find yourself fairly well up the results even on a 125!
The Wygate is coming up soon, that might be a good one to start with.
-
Why would/should it not be allowed? Seems harmless enough to me or am I missing something?
-
Nice photos, thanks.
Yet another example of a 'lighter than air' machine.
-
Could this be the cheapest competitive trials bike in the UK? It'll be interesting to see how much it costs in total. Nice one.
-
What a bargain!
Do you know what needs doing to it?
-
By the way... as at close of play today Wednesday 18th Feb, there are 83 confirmed entries which is more than we've had for some years. Due to time and light constraints, the trial is limited to 120, so don't hang around too long if you fancy having a go.
Remember, there are free refreshments for riders at the punch card change after section 20 at Top Farm and the results will be announced as the last rider finishes.
Also, thanks to everyone who's offered to observe or mark the punch cards, the 80 positions are almost full which is brilliant!
Cheers

The Colmore is traditionally a tough event for the genuine Clubmen but I can assure you that the Championship Sections will NOT be any harder than previous years.
Remember; the Novogar Championship is for Clubmen. In this context, we are talking about good centre level riders, may of whom are over 40. From our area that would include people like John Cowley, Mark Hicken, Richard Allen etc.
What the new 'Non-Championship' route will provide is a less severe day out for riders who normally find the Novogar series just a little too tough... not novices but riders who are down the order slightly at Centre Level.
This will be achieved by having a 'non-championship' eased route on the 20 hardest sections. The remainder of the sections will be the same for all. There will be no specific award for this class, it has been introduced purely to attract a bigger entry and hopefully bring back a 'feel good' factor for the lesser lights.
Just to repeat myself, if you have ridden the Colmore before you know the level of severity. If you are happy with this, ride the championship route again. It will be tough but no harder than normal.
Pete
For anyone who's not ridden the Colmore before, the championship route goes like this -
Katy making short work of the roots at Top Farm last year
Emma Bristow on the logs.
Mark Hicken a couple of years back when it froze
Eddie Roberts (I think) three years ago when it poured down all all day.

I don't know what to suggest.
How about going on the TT forum and asking the question? I've got the officila results books for every event I attended, so it would be easy for me to give you that info, but that only goes back to the early 90's.
I guess there will be people with older result books who may well be able to help.
-
John, Thanks for giving it a go, as you say it's not an easy thing to impliment..... without being dictatorial.
I resisted the chance to suggest a system as it was my opening post and I wanted others to put over their views.
I'm not really worried what system we use, providing we all use the same system, however the main view that seems to have come across is that most people are happy with how things are now... so why change?
Thanks to everyone for their input.

I can never remember seeing lap times but try HERE for rider info.

If I tried that jump I'd be more like SPREAD eagle!

I have a 1000cc road bike and Norwich Union let me add the Scorpa on for just

I can't confirm that a tubless tyre will specifically go on your Fantic but I've always used my worn ones on the back of my DRZ400 enduro bike with no problems.
