Most definately has been in my experience too.

That might be ok to ride the bike but won't help registering it sadly.
The last one I did, my broker issued a cover note on the frame number but wold only date it for two weeks rather than a month. Once I had the reg number, they issued the full cert.
I also had to take the bike along to the local DVLA centre at Worcester for an ispection. Once they saw it was a trials bike, they didn't seem to care about any road legal stuff at all, which was a big relief. They litterally checked the engine and frame numbers and it went through.

For the second time a stator failed on my Rev3 back in 04 and I kicked it over and over and over in the forlorne hope that it would start until....... I broke a bone in my left foot!
Wasn't too bothered about finishing the trial after that
-
Thanks a lot for that, really impressed

Be very careful to follow the same route with the cable.
As said abbove, you will have trouble getting the slide off without removing the carb, so you may as well take it off and give it a good clean. Infact, it's a good idea to clean the carb evry few events anyway, especially in the summer when there is more dust around.

Every bike will have it's problems, some cause more posts than others on these forums.
You can't count the number of posts about the leaking carb, but it's not a massive problem to live with or cure. There are also a lot of posts about stators, but generally speaking, these have been cured on newer bikes.
Take away these two issues, and you won't find too many problems with Beta's.

Featured bike on the front page, nice idea!!!

I think the logo means that they've avoided being in it! One of the few banks who have!

The moto of this story is to remember your password.
And even more importantly.... if you change your email address, let TC know what the new address will be before the old one disappears!
At least then you can get a new password if you need to.

I've got a tubless IRC (with a tube) on the back of my DRZ400 to use in LDT's and I've had no problems. Each LDT is around 75 miles, I run about 6psi, the 400 weighs a ton and does 75mph, so I should think you'd be ok.
-
Goodness me... no wonder I can't do it!
-
Probably a printing error, it happens.
We all know what they rule should be, it's only a problem if a rider tries to explot a loop hole.
-
Thanks for letting us know.
-
I see what you mean.
Previously I used the example of a rider who leant the end of his handle bar against a tree whilst weighing up a rock step, he didn't touch the tree with his body at all but got the one for gaining an advantage by touching the tree with his bike. Under the rules as written in the 2009 book, this situation could be open to debate.
Like you say, if the rider appealed to the CotC and he read out the rule book, you could argue that the observer interpreted the rules incorrectly and the decision could be overturned.
We all know what the rule is, but does it actually say it in writing? No, not this year.
-
It might be more than one of the above!
-
Yep, I fully agree with you on your first point.
But you also need to cater for your regulars, even with three routes, it's still tempting to make the hard route too hard for the majority. This forces the lesser riders down a route where they find it too easy. The next trial you make the route down a little harder to take marks from those who moved down and a vicious circle begins.
To some extent this is always going to happen, but it's a mistake to set out the hard route for the best rider and make it too hard. You still need an enjoyable mixture for all.
I think the new rules are really good. Thank goodness we've now just got two sets of rules!
-
I've told riders many times that they have to imagine a straight line between markers and if they cross that they will get a five. Rightly or wrongly, I have enforced that in the past and no doubt will do so again in the future. Not to the nearest mm using laser guidance, but still basically a straight line.
-
Tues 10th Feb and entries are up to 57 including Alexz Wigg and Dan Thorpe to name a couple.
The trial will be limited to 120 so don't hang around if you're planning to ride.
-
Lean on a tree is marked just the same as putting your foot down. Under this years rules, even if you are stationary it still counts as a one.
-
Mine came today, judging by the snow you've had over at your manor, your book is still sat in a drift somewhere, stuck to a block of ice
-
If you watch the WTC video closely, you will see that the rider (very skillfully) rides over to the 'easy' route, goes up the easier climb and then at the top rejoins the 'intended' hard route just below the top of the hard climb, effectively missing out the hard part.
This demonstrates the 'imaginary'straight line issue perfectly.
-
Got it.
Section 1 Round 1 2007 WTC
Members Video HERE
Talk about the long way around!
I don't blame the riders for trying it and getting away with it, I just think the observer should have said "no, that's not the intended route. Go over there and you get a five!"
-
The WTC clip was in the members section of TC, I just can't remember when it was, so I can't find it.
I just couldn't believe how far off the 'intended' route the riders were allowed to go and still get away with the clean.
-
I really believe that we should have a common standard for marking four routes.
We can call them what we like- Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink or 1,2,3,4 or a,b,c,d or Expert, Intermediate, Clubman, Beginer or Championship, Support, Wobbler and 1st event.
Use one, two, three or all four but what on earth is wrong with having them laid down?
The ACU are our governing body, we have little real say in many of the decisions that are made.
Just tell us what the system is and when it comes into force.
-
When you see the top riders inthe world doing this very thing, it's difficult to stop club riders from copying it.
There was a video clip on TC a couple of years back where the Championship riders rode all over the venue but within the boundaries of the easier support route. They missed out the difficult climb and simply nipped back into the 'intended' route just at the top. The clip is probably still on here soomewhere.
Totally out of order in my opinion, but it was allowed.
