Great sound --- yes! But did you see all of the dents and scrapes on that bike? Either Kenichi is hard on bikes or Yamaha doesn't make many spares
....
-
Get back with you later Copey....still checking my nuts!
-
This GasGas/Scorpa guy has jumped ship and bought my newest, last bike (that's what i tell the Wife anyway)...a new 250. So what's the skinny on Shercos. I live in Gas Gas Country and Sherco's are pretty rare here. Any real differences...or "same animal, just different stripes"?
-
Heck Jon...I've did those headstands several times. They are just of extremely short duration and occur in the middle of my crashes.
-
Well....lost a jitsie carbon/kevlar fork guard....disc side....2010 GasGas (Marzocchi aluinum). This is the kind that just form fits to the lower fork leg...carbon or kevlar i think. Anyone out there lose a disc side and need a rightside? Anyone out there lose a right side and want to sell a disc side?
-
At fast highway speeds they suck. At low trials speeds....I think they would be much worse. I think a sweat-soaked cotten t-shirt works better....certainly less expensive. My 2 cents.
-
As an old fart that has had the pleasure to ride with some of these Kids when they were in the lower classes....I'd like to say they are the nicest Kids Ive ever been around. Trials makes for good kids I guess.
-
Congrats on the SY. I had an 07...best engine ever...best turner ever. It is a bit heavy compared to otherbikes, but for club level...its the bullet. RYP is great to deal with as is the Tryals Shop. That dude at the Tryals Shop can diagnose any issue you have over the phone....he's great. Either of these guys can tell you the best plugs/oils...I was at a recent National and spoke to the RYP guys...they gave me this wierd, radial-elotroded plug (sic)...it worked great.
-
...so I guess not many. Curious to see how it goes. Sold my SY for a GasGas due to parts issues. The SY turns the best of any bike I have ever ridden...nice motor too...just too dang heavy.
I hope it makes a go of it. Times are tough and our club has changed from a multi-make showroom to a near sole GasGas affair. With Ossa on the verge, it is a crowded field for limited dollars.

Anyone riding the new bikes for real yet?
-
...as long as we're in the rulebook, how about we scap that whole "5" thing for crashing
...of course that would also negate my rather easy score card tabulation
-
WD-40 is my "duct tape"...i use it by the gallon (really). I spray everything sans brakes...however note that discs and pads are WD-40 "magnets", so learn how to "boil them off"!
-
....one of the strange things I have noticed re section make-up/obstacle difficulty is the "visual impact aspect". What i mean is that I often see folks look for that "perfect rock" that really looks cool when cleaned and they will bypass more natural terrain issues that dont appear as impressive (but are often just as difficult/require just as much skill) -- creek sections with multiple 1' ledges in succession are just as challenging as that lone 4' step. Also, these natural obstacles often tend to be easier on bikes (and bones)! We have an older Gentleman in our club that can set up sections with "traction issues in the midst of difficult turns" that are a blast to ride...but i hear folks gripe about them (scoring a 3) and ask were they can go jap zap.
I scored at a National event and actually had guys punch out of my section beacse it was a wet/muddy/boggy mess...muttering they werent going to ger their bikes dirty. Oh well....I'm just an old fart.
-
Well...I broke 2 front discs on my Scorpa in 2 sucessive rides....S##t happens. Odds say you should be free from shifter woes for a while.
-
My 2007 did the same thing. I think the condidtion is exacerbated by negative weighting of the back wheel (ala lots of air time via jumps, hauling atop the skid plate, etc.)...as the hose does not rub under normal "sag"conditions. It took 2 years for mine to develop a pin hole. I simply cut about 1/2" of hose off and reconected...you should have enough slack to do this once or twice....then just replace the hose (i'm assuming its just the supply hose and not the pressured one). Irritating yes...but a small price to pay for the otherwise top-notch quality.
-
OK if BS is now taking over this thread....I offer the following. Just as Nigel Mansel came to the states during the waning of his open wheel career...I surmise Dougie will make the rumors true and switch to Gas Gas for his stateside debut.
-
Now with CW to Beta....PS seemingly staying at Sherco...just who (or is it whom?) will carry the Gas Gas banner? Any leaks, rumors, or outright lies will be appreciated.

Re Ridgerunners rant:
I've seen new riders come to events and not finish. I seen novice riders leave with with huge bruises. Add the broken bikes (and egos)...a lot of these guys dont come back. Thus, i see difficulty levels as a big issue. Another thing is getting volunteers to set up sections...8 am and 8 pm....each with several splits...thats a lotta work. Fewer classes/lines would make it easier. Even with all that...its still a lotta fun.

....oh great! Now Gas Gas will be calling me night and day wanting me to take his place!
-
MUD!!!
Agreed. At a recent national our pro riders didnt want to do a mud bog section. And some lower classes got mad about getting their bikes wet and dirty. Good grief. Let's ride it all.

Hey guys is this mormal?
2010 pro:
My front brake line sits against the front fork leg ... and the travel motion is causing the black finish to wear a bit. It is not being scratched as the brake line is covered in soft plastic/rubber sheath. do they all do this? I tried twisting and turning everything but the guide seems to make the line rub in thiat one spot. Any help out there?
Thanks.

I think it was Ricky Deitrich, 2009 endurocross champ, that Ron was holding at bay. I could just tell that Ron was not going to give up the spot willingly. For a couple laps he gave Ricky fits...it was a cool heat.
-
Last Saturday's EnduroCross event was ruled by Trial guys. Of course Taddy was untouchable as always. Geoff Aaron had a mishap early, but climbed back to second in the main event. Cody had a very solid day....he finished second in his heat and made it up to fourth in the main. Commo was having an incredible heat holding onto second...almost appearing to be riding over his head....and then went over his head (literally!)...I assume he was too sore to come back to the semis. Local Trials Rider Josh Nutsch won the TrialsCross event. It was a great night.
-
Well I only made it to 2 events this year....but Cody was clearly the class of the field. However....i sensed not all was well in the Sherco camp. Mr. Smage seemed tentative and a bit disconected. I for one hope neither goes to Europe next year. I can make a USA event...not a world event. I want to see Pat regain the fire in his belly and throw the gauntlet down to Cody. I think we are better off with both of them here...but Im selfish. Congrats to Mr. Webb.

Good grief!!! Does the Aussie dollar have a value near the Mexican peso....if notI cannot afford!
