  1. when hot (the bike not me)...ya gotta find nuetral to push it!
  2. My 07 ...bought new iin 08...has never shifted well. Different oils and different temps seem to have no major affect...though I believe ATF may be just a smidge better for slick shifts (if you can call them that). More slack in the chain seems to allow better shifting in the higher gears .... a taughter chain seems to make the 1-2 gears easier to shift inbetween. I always thought it would break in and improve...but it never has....its a clunky shifter. Engine speed seems to be much bigger factor thany my previous GasGas ride.
  3. I bumped mine up to a 40t. It allows me a bit more flexiblity as I ride 90% of the sections in 2nd....using 1st for really crawling sections and 3rd for hill climbs.
  4. I'd buy for $7000 american.....btw, I ride a Scorpa! Actually I really like it. The simplicity, tidiness, and quality are real assets. However I can never see it as affordable here in the states (where Gas Gas rules).
  5. Good luck with any parts...its been tough for awhile.
  6. It seems like its been months since the announcement...now nothing. Any news on when bikes and parts will start rolling...did they run out of orange paint? The last rumor I heard was no factory activity till summer. Any news out there?
  7. Personally....i'd still be more interested in a complete unit....not a slip on
  8. here's how I did it...in order i think. Remove: 1. fender 2. tank 3. sub frame 4. airbox 5. muffler 6. expansion chamber 7. header Seems a bit much...but its tight in there. Remeber to take pics as i had to remove some of the electrics and master cyclinder....and had to fiddle to get it all right.

    250 Reeds

just leaned it out a bit with the air screw.

    250 Reeds

6-petal, single stage, carbon fiber...just ask for recently engineered scorpa 250 reeds

    250 Reeds

i paid a hundred bucks...which included a custom engineering/cad fee....so im guessing a lot less than that. I think it really makes the power even smoother. My 2 cents.

    250 Reeds

just got my custom Boyesen reeds in and installed (carbon fiber). After an initial scare (seems the carbon reeds raised the idle by about 4000rpm's!), tried them out in many conditions. Aside from the idle speed difference (easily fixed), no drastic changes...just noticable throtle response improvements at all rpms....much better at lower and higer revs. I no longer notice the percieved "reed flutter" at very high revs. Aside from the act of congress it takes to get at them...i definitely recomend this mod...and since I paid the initial "drafting" fee, they should be affordable.
  13. boyeson is making some now...they have my reeds as a template. You can call them now and ask for them...they are too new to have a part number! As for how tight it is...notbad once you remove the fender, tank, shock, exhaust, coil, rectifier, some other electrical thingy, master cylinder, ................................................
  14. its a thermostat....but in Oklahoma at 105F it runs all the time! in more normal temps it cuts in and out about every 2-5 minutes.
  15. We just finished our season here (too hot to ride), so I tore the bike down to do some maintenance and get Boysen to fit some duel stage reeds. Well, to get the reed cage out just about requires removal of most of the spokes!!!!! Anyway, the exhaust is just sitting there and i remember someone stating it should be cleaned? Well this exhaust is not like my 1978 CR 125....how do you clean this thing?
  16. Thanks FUF! I'm using the factory plug, the revving problem was non-existant when new, and now getting progressively worse. I like your ides re the blockages, Ive really knackered it about in supper muddy conditions the past several months, I'm gonna do a thorough carb, fuel system teardown and clean after my next event as we are off for the hot summer months. I will definitely check for leaks and blockages. The symptoms persist even with new / other fuel, so Im asuming its not age of petrol. Its a new bike...maybe 6 mos...I would not think Carbon would build that quickly. The spooge issue is much worse than my previous gas gas, which just "dusted" the pipe internals with carbon, I'm getting measurable gunk here. As for the kill switch thing (it seems I have a neanderthalish IQ!)....thanks!
  17. Hope this is not too stupid of a question...but I have a gut feeling I've gotten out of adjustment carbwise. Here are the symptoms: 1. lots of "spooge" coating the the inner tailpipe, different oils and mixtures up to 80:1 do not alter the amount. 2. routine backfiring upon killing the bike ... generally occurs just after rides betwen sections, not after riding a section. 3. "phantom" engine revs...after a long ride between sections, the bikes rpm steadily climbs with no throttle input, several thousand rpm's, not just a few hundred. I can make them subside with putting a load on the clutch or gassing the throttle. But it will resume and continue for a few minutes before subsiding. The carb and settings are pretty much stock/standard....and the bike runs fine in sections, never dies. I do get a bit of high rpm reed flutter that I hope to correct after I get the carb dialed in. My gut instinct says rich, but major air screw adjustments seem to do nothing. I was thinking of a smaller main jet???? OK, let the character assassinations begin!! I need help! Thanks.
  18. Just wondering if anyone has reliable news on Scorp'as future. Is it going to survive or fail...there seems to be very little discusion and most of the "facts" are contradictory. The US importer really seems to be focusing on Sherco. Hate to see another brand go away.
  19. When I get some time...i'm gonna take it out and trace it....Lewissport said they should be able to find one that fits. If so, i'll post the part number. Thanks again.
  20. Thanks for the help....its a bone stock 07 model. I have always had great luck with the boysens...sharpening up the low end. So I just thought that I'd install the them the next time I had the bike tore down. What are/is a yammy stopper? Thanks.
  21. Does anyone out there know if Boysen makes a dual stage reed for the 250R. Boysen's site doesn't list one...but surly one of the hundreds they make fits. Any help?
  22. Hello all....been a "lurker" for awhile now...thought I'd dive into the fold. I'm a recent Scorpa convert (from Gas Gas) and am having a few issues finding experienced tech. asst. (as Scorpa's are not the most popular bike here in the States)...so I'm hoping not to wearout my welcome in the Scorpa column. Hello all.
