Why do you believe they should not all be removed?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
DG
They just get too noisey with no noticable power gain. Personally I think leave them all in but make sure you do the rejetting, that makes heaps of difference!

Hi all
Seasons greetings and all that stuff.
The only thing I really found odd with a Scorpa was the frontend set up. To start with it felt floppy (too much caster)and harder to balance than the Sherco/GG's. After getting used to the different feel I love it! It tracks and and front hops (only to the right....still working on hopping left)and I can hold it when the front wants to wash out. Only thing I can recommend to change is that superbly made bashplate........ditch it and buy a flat one!!!!
We did lean my 04 down a tad on the main jet and that gave it "S" loads of lift and between sections it monos through whoops like a gem Other than that, is there a sweeter bike to ride???? I think not

I hope that is the bolt you are talking about not the brake pedal It could come in handy :hat:

I screwed mine down a bit today but only half what your bolt is out to. It does work but I think the design is to keep it high and protected. I think of the rear brake like the gear lever.........I know where it is when I want it....and it's out of the way when I don't.

I think you will find it is making the filter sock retainer/air inlet hole full size. I'm currently looking into the same mod for the 175. It appears the SY125/175 has the same inlet as the SY 250 but the TY-S only has a small oval hole in the plastic retainer. Be warned, increasing the air flow into the filter will lean down the mixture making the richer pilot get change a must!
If I am wrong I am sure someone will let us both know!

Sorry Lane, I just re-read your original post and my response and realised that I misunderstood what you were suggesting. My apologies.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Yep.... I do it all the time...
Just like realising you are in neutral not second when you roll into a section....
Glad to hear it aint just me that does it!!!!!!!
I don't want double points, I want half points, then I would be 50% more competetive in the next grade :santawink:
Just waitin for the response from PA

Not sure where he has gone, could explain why he was coming to ride the Oz SuperTrial then pulled out quite late. I told Joa he should be in the Scorpa team, maybe he might have a crack at it. He must be getting bored with winning the Finnish title by now.

Not to mention the fact the Japanese finally figured out how build bikes in the late seventies (all bar Kawasaki anyway)and took a big bite out of european manufacturers sales.

DON'T DO IT!!!! (if you own cats)
True story!!!
Friend of mine was fixing a chainsaw on kitchen table. Cat #1 brushes on gallon of fuel on table..... it spills on cat #2.....
Cat #2 runs through house... there was an open fire.....
Needless to say cat #2 ran out of fuel eventaully....
One less bed, couch, electric guitar and numerous holes in carpet!!!!
Unless you are renting and don't have a garage, take it to a friends!!!!!!

Glad to hear you got one
The flat bashplate is a good investment! It also gives better protection for the waterpump. Keith Marchant modified his pump so the outlet is angled in like the factory racing ones. Paul Arnott has kevlar exhaust guards and I think we can also get alloy ones too. I haven't burnt my leg or damaged the pump but I would preffer a flat skid. The angled bit at the front that can test the balance of a lower grade rider when you miss judge a rock or get on a greasy log.
Happy Scorpa riding, I might make the titles over there next year and we can catch up then. In the meantime I have found a good backcracker and am starting to ache a little less.

Some kind fellow Australian sent me those pics (damn Beta lovers!)
The headstem nut could have been stripped either before the breakage or during. Looks to me like the the forks just slid up when the nut let go and broke the bottom clamp because of the twist. Either way I think it comes down to something not being tight enough. We had four bikes coming off a 9ft drop off at the SuperTrial and they gave the suspension a workout but nothing broke!

Sorry Atom, I thought you were taking the p^&& out of me.
BB, it's not just a link, it is my website and runs on a very small budget and bandwidth. If I could, I would put up some longer vids but they hog to much space.
I have a really good one I took of Jon Pons. I think he was having trouble with the engine management system on the Sherco but I dare not upload it incase my spanish is not so good. Does "puta" mean the same as "puter"???????? If not I hate to think what the other words mean

Sorry guys if this was not enough to keep your interest....not trying to get website traffic.....just thought I'd share something I liked. I think I'll stay at home!
I hear a lot of people complaining that no one puts up vids...
Do I spend the money on bandwidth or not, up to you??????

Hi Guys
Have a couple of short vids of Joa Hindren on the www.scorpavictoria.com website. Will have a few more soon!
JOA ROCKS.... Dan Clarke not too bad either!

Hey Guys
Did we have a fun week downunder with the visitors we had!!!
It was good to see Clarky recover from his endo at the Scot to leave some rubber (and skin) on the ozzy granite and to watch Joa Hindren show everyone a Scorpa has big teeth!!! It was also fantastic to see the likes of Morris, Pons, Dabill, Brown, and the others in the OS troup on our soil. I just can't figure why Joa isn't riding in the factory Scorpa team after seeing what he can do when he gets off a plane and rides a borrowed bike????
Nice to have you gents come to visit.....come back any time!!!!

Help ergently required, bike in bits.
Hey boofoot....I'm in the process of replacing the seals in my 04 and nobody can tell me how the seal retainer is attached to the slider. These are not the same as the Sherco Paioli's that are held in by a circlip. Can anyone tell me how the collars come off???? Are they a press fit or threaded???? Obviously Scorpa's don't getseals replaced often enough for anybody to know down here!

I agree you can tell by the smell when your fuel can isn't well! Maybe a few good long sniffs of a fresh mix might make me ride better..... what do you think???? I think fuel keeps ok for at least six months but only if the lid is on tight. After that pour it into the wife's car.... she'll never tell the difference and at least it will give the motor some lubrication when she roars off on a cold engine

Hey Guys
Was out trying the TY-S 175 (143cc) over logs and some pretty big hills today. I really think the bore kit for the 125 is a great idea if you love the 125 but just want a little more grunt. It won't make it a 2 stroke but it will give you all you need in torque even if you are a 100kg like me. The bike I have came fitted with a 14 - 57 sprocket set and a 10 front in the bag. The 14 was ok for road racing so I swapped over to the 10. Today I tried the bike with a 12 on the front and it was really good. It doesn't seem much different than the 10 in first(which surprised me) and at least it has a reasonable road speed without reving the bags out of it.
The 125 may not set the world on fire power wise but you have to learn to use to grunt. Just when I think it's going to stall and the rev's drop real low the little 4 stroke keeps going when a 2T of the same size has coughed and died.
Mind you, getting back on a 250 2T afterward is a scary experiance when you turn the thottle as far as you have been doing on the little 4T

It's interesting to hear the chat about "Made in China" trials bikes. I bought a new Chinese tractor two years ago. Not a lawn tractor but a 65hp 4x4. It is a copy of a Fiat model made about 10 or 15 years ago. I did my research and the new tractor was only going to cost about the same as a 15 yr old Fiat with 8,000hrs up. Not only that, the company that made the tractor Shanghai Tractor & Engine Company (STEC) was 70% owner by Fiat Group and all New Holland tractors under 80hp were made in the same factory!!!! Scary thing is, the STEC logo is a blue oval just like Scorpa and Ford....oh I Hope that never happens!
The piont is, any of the major trials manufactures could set up shop in China and make bikes for about 1/3 of the price. You can be sure if someone doesn't soon someone else will do it and find away around EU trade barriers (ie. Bra War). One thing to be wary about with anything Chinese, they make shocking rubber and seals. I could just see a Scorpa 125 copy leaving a trail of oil on the rocks as it went through a section. I think I'll stick with the real thing this time, a chinese tractor is enough for me!

It's just a suspension design issue, heaps of cars do it. As the car rolls back onto the rear axle it transfers load from the springs. Try it out at the traffic lights, put the handbrake on and go between forward and reverse. When you go back the rear pushes up and forward pushes it down. Even ols Nissan 1600's did it.

What sproket are you running on the front? The TY-S 175 I have as a demo came with a 10 in the bag but the bike was fitted with a 13 or 14. On the high gearing you could use to 1st to climb hills or ride to the High St it is geared so tall. I have tried the bike in 1,2 & 3rd on some pretty long climbs and my advice is to use second and let the bike take it's time, it makes not differnce revving the bags out of it. The same climb can be done on the SY 250 in 4th if you want get air at the top but the little 4T has a much different attitude. As far a as the clutch shudder goes, if you are using the 10 front I think it may just be a feel thing. If you have a bigger front sprocket than the 10, 2nd or 3rd is way to high for a launch.
Let me know what you are doing (get someone to take a pic or two)and with what gearing and I'll try to do something similar myself and tell you what I think is going on. I find the 175 can do nearly anything but it does it in a different way, once you learn it, it is such an easy bike to ride.
